  'This Generation'

  yes, again... after reading numerous posts on this site and doing some research on my own, i have a strong feeling that my whole belief will soon stand or fall with the understanding of 'this generation'.. matthew 24:3 .."tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?".

  matthew 24:7 for nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another.. matthew 24:34 truly i say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.. .

  generation:noun: group of genetically related organisms constituting a single step in the line of descent noun: the normal time between successive generations example: "they had to wait a generation for that prejudice to fade".

  I always thought when Jesus said that he truly believed "this generation" meaning the ones his disciples were living in.

  Think about it, they thought the world was horrible, there was no way it could get worse, all the things he talked about were already happening. They lived with the belief that he was going to come back within their lifetimes.

  over two thousand years later people are still waiting for Jesus to return. I am not saying that people should give up their faith, if that is what they want to believe, but how about the idea that the end isn't coming, how about living your life with the idea that life is meant to be lived and not lived with the mindset that everything is going to be gone tomorrow.

  i went to take my daughter to school today and right at the end of her line was a jw with her child.

  seeing as i had to take my child to her line, i had to stand very close to her.

  i seen her out of the corner of my eye looking at me.

  I have an aunt (by marriage) who treated me like absolute scum and yelled at me when I attended my grandfather's funeral. What was so precious about it, was she was DF'd for a year after she was caught cheating on my uncle, in fact I do believe she slept with almost every construction worker in their town.

  Of course she has the right to judge me. hahahaa... it was so laughable.

  I always thought I was pretty, tried to act nice, but there were only a very few eligible brothers in our circuit, none really in my Hall. So I always got ignored.... so I dated my first "worldly" guy at 18 and boy oh boy he could kiss... There wasn't anything better, and soon I left, not because of worldy guys, but in all honesty, the only single guys around where always so much older, had lots of baggage, etc... I was told to wait until the new system.

  Pioneer Takes Baby Out In Zero Wind Chill

  it's a keeper and shows how fanatical they can get:.

  on my way to work in our city's downtown area i regularly see a pioneer walking up and down the street, holding up his magazines.

  A baby doesn't have enough body mass to keep themselves warm even if they are wrapped up. The man was also standing and waving his arms, which produces more heat, the baby wrapped up or not is idle. Not only was he putting the child at risk for sickness, but also hypothermia, and there is the risk of death.

  Here are some quotes off websites about it

  "Infants lose body heat more easily than adults; additionally, infants can't make enough body heat by shivering. Infants less than one year old should never sleep in a cold room. Provide warm clothing and a blanket for infants and try to maintain a warm indoor temperature."

  If an baby isn't supposed to be in a cold room INDOORS, why should they be outside like that?

  Could JW's return to the "generation of 1914" teaching and still be true?

  i was discussing the 1914 "this generation" doctrine with my jw mother the other day and she said something that made me laugh my head off.

  i told her that the wts were wrong on this belief so why does she put so much faith in them.

  she told me that jw's were not wrong on this believe but just back off being so dogmatic about it but that they still feel that the generation of 1914 will see the end come.

  They tell you that it means those with the age of understanding in the 1970's when that would mean the end is very near.... now that it's 2005, they expand it to mean something different to also interpret that the end is very near.

  At what point will people wake up and realize that the changes were to accomodate their FAILURES? The "new light" excuse is sooo tiring.

  BUT, with that all being said there are still people who have counted on this "end" their whole lives they can't adjust to thinking anything else. They want to believe it so very badly.

  i dont know how i came across this forum but when i came to it i was so shocked of all the things being mentioned about the org.

  i became doubtful of the recent decision i had made ( the big dip, which i kinda felt pressure to do but that's another story) also hearing about how jw are a cult really opened my interest.

  so now that im openly informed ,im out in search of the truth behind the truth.

  No matter what religion you are, the gift from God was FREEDOM. You should have freedom and exercise your mind, get information, get the facts and make your own choices. If you are only half informed, then you aren't making decisions based on all the information.

  In court, there is a trial and the jury is presented with the prosecution and defense's ideas of the story. Based on both sides, they come to a verdict.

  The same is true in life, and information is power. Keep informed. If anyone tells you that information and knowledge is harmful, what is it that they want to HIDE from you?

  its clincial (not photo labs sids they get photos from photoaim).

  I would be curious to know what the QUALITY of medical care is. I wonder if these very elderly Bethalites are collecting social security now ? Do they received Medicare? If they haven't worked, can they even qualify for Social Security or Medicare?

  It would be interesting to find out since they are paid like $20 a month if in a previous life they actually worked and were eligible for SSI, if they have to hand over their checks or if it's actually their money.

  But I do believe the lab is for the medical section of Bethel. They are too cheap to pay for outside healthcare.

  Did you do K P at a Summer Convention??

  remember when we had those large conventions and you volunteered for k p work.

  i can't remember how many bushels of potatoes and onions i peeled over the years.

  it was alot of fun when we had a group doing it and all the while missing out on all the spiritual food.

  I did all sorts of jobs, but the one I remember the most was making turkey sandwiches, and the brother that was in charge the "turkey sandwich Captain" was soooo cute. He was from south Florida and I kept volunteering every day, got there early, just to bat my eyelashes at him.

  I went in 1990 when I was 16 yoa in Orlando, FL.

  I still have a couple pics of it, but don't have the book. I just remember studying so much and sitting there for those long days. I know everyone around me kept commenting how wonderful and special this was... etc... how great the "spiritual food" was...

  Honestly, I faked enthusiasm because it didn't seem all that special to me. I was kinda dissapointed, I thought it was going to be a lot more marvelous and it turned out to be like a 2 week assembly.

  There was 1 lady with MS in our class and 1 brother in an electric wheelchair that I believe had suffered a stroke, that were trying to hard to pioneer.

  I do remember the sister that put us up in her house gave us Klondike bars at night... that is probably my most VIVID memory! hahahaaa
