  here's a couple: the governing body will allow *non-spiritual israelites* on their board.

  #2 the society will install visa/mastercard services at the convention sites and in kingdom halls.........any others??????

  1. Armageddon could show up
  2. The R&F could be encouraged to read the bible WITHOUT the publications
  3. Ray Franz could get a public apology and re-instated
  4. 1914 could be dropped altogether
  5. Women could be appointed as elders
  6. Higher education and making something of yourself could be encouraged
  7. Pedophiles might be disfellowshipped and reported to the police
  8. Door to Door witnessing might be substituted for doing REAL charity work
  9. Shunning family and friends who are no longer Witnesses rule could be dropped
  10. Pigs might fly out of the CO's ass "

  Ok, #10 will happen before 1 thru 9.

  I love all of the David Sedaris books. I've also have a few of his audio tapes so I can listen and giggle as I'm driving. Read the above mentioned Red Tent and loved it. I'm currently reading "River Horse: A Vogage Across America". The History of the Lewis and Clark Expedition (3 volumes) are quite interesting reading. I also have enjoyed any Sigurd Olson books, Where the River Runs by Gary and Joanie McGuffin and Edges of the Earth by Richard Leo and many, many more, too many to list.

  Lying to someone on their deathbed...

  is it wrong?

  they are going to be dead soon right?

  does it matter what we tell someone who's dying?

  "I wouldn't want to be lied to, especially on my death bed, as the people that I hope would be around me would be my closest friend(s), not people who lie, at such a crucial time..."

  I still politely disagree, depending on the people involved and the issues. It's never that black and white. Life is not just black and white. I've seen truth destroy what tiny bit of relationship was still left between two people, one of them on their deathbed, with no time to resolve the problems that had been. The person that died "wanted and needed" to hear one thing, the other person couldn't "'honestly" tell the dying person what the dying person wanted to hear. The dying person died emotionally distraught over this and the surving person is weighted down with guilt after the fact, because, eventually the surving person would have been able to say what the dying person wanted to hear, but not at that time, and would now give anything to have said what was wanted to heard when desperately needed, even though it wouldn't have been truthful at that time. Life can be messy. People are complicated. Emotions and feelings are complicated. We, each and every one of us, are shades of gray.

  I guess the answer depends upon the individual. Personally, I would say whatever needs to be said to help ease the worries the dying person might have. They're going through so much facing death anyway. I've seen some struggle to hang on until they thought their most worrisome issues were resolved. I believe peace of mind at the time is one of the greatest gift you can give someone who is dying. But that's me.

  I am NOT getting this. How can many of them be "separated" and still looking for mate??? Cripes! I got DF'd at age 17 after already having been DA'd for 2 yrs when they found out I fornicated with the man I was about to marry (of course my belly was sticking out a wee bit during the walk down the aisle ) but this site actually condones looking for partners when one is separated or divorced NOT free to marry?!?

  i feel like screaming right about now...........the dickhead who takes our bookstudy group just came over and said "...i wonder how many brothers and sisters died in the tsunami disater.

  " while that's a natural concern, his next comment blew me away "....it figures that the media hasn't bothered mentioning jehovah's witnesses helping out in this disaster!

  " i looked at him stunned for a minute and said "and why on earth would they mention jehovah's witnesses?

  Here's a pic of our drive from earlier today. We live on a pretty good sized hill so now we're waiting to get plowed out the rest of the way. Even 4WD can't always get you out.

  Where I am in Indiana we already have 9 inches and we're expecting possibly 6-10 more inches overnight. My sis, who is only 80 miles north of us, hardly has any snow. I'm just glad it's snow and not freezing rain. Enjoy! Woo hoo! It's now officially winter!
