Press Release
by JohnJBB123 indecember 4, 2001. for immediate release:.
a national human rights organization is taking jehovah's witnesses to task for claiming to support human rights while denying them to members.. approaches to education, inc., a arizona based human rights group, went public this week about its concerns that the jehovah's witness religion claims to support the un declaration of human rights while at the same time that it denies those rights to its members.
while jehovah's witnesses claim to be crusaders for freedom of religion and human rights, and in favor of religious tolerance, this is not what they practice within the group, states john b. brown, the executive director of approaches to education, inc, individual members of the jehovahs witnesses are not allowed to question their religious beliefs, because this questioning may elicit a punitive response by the religions leaders.

Elders called-Want to 'get together'....Hmmmmm

Yes Reckless, that's the way they played it with me. Never a judicial meeting, never an announcement, but suddenly I'm "known" as an apostate and even my own sister wont talk to me. Talk about breaking their own rules. Something I could never prove in court of course. The judge would say, "I can't force people to talk to you, ma'am."
Those sons of bitches are ruthless. They have no consciences. Lawyers run the whole damned mess. But I am waiting .... just like those people who lost loved ones due to tobacco use. Yes, when the cards come tumbling down, I'll be there!

NOTIFY YOUR HOSPITAL & DOCTORS ABOUT JW SPYS
by MadApostate ini am sending this letter via email to both my local hospital and to several doctors (different version) who have occasion to treat my immediate family.. i thought that i would post such on the db so that others here could also do the same.
however, i would ask that you do not completely duplicate the letter, in the event that the same hospital or same doctor receive this more than once, and discard it as a hoax.
please take the time to change some of the wording, and personalize it to your own circumstances.. i will post any received replies, and i ask that others please do the same.. *****************************************.

Mommy, my experience is my experience. The lady told me they automatically call the elders. Maybe this is an isolated hospital, maybe not. Regardless, it's a problem. They were going to call them with or without my consent. They ASSUME they have your consent if you're a JW. The Hospital Liaison Idiots have them brainwashed that they're doing you a favor.
If you don't believe, me I don't know what to tell you. It's what actually happened to ME.
It is pointless to get into other clergy of other religions because we're talking about the Watchtower here, aren't we? I mean when I was Catholic they didn't automatically call my priest because they know different people have different priests in different parishes.
But with the liaison committees they've been convinced that it's the arrangement preferred by the JWs. Like I said, they think they're doing a good deed. Not a matter to them of confidentiality at this point where no diagnosis or treatment has been rendered. Just a step in the admittance process.

Hi everyone. I keep missing good threads due to lack of time.
Briefly - since hubby is getting impatient - I have some thoughts:
Three years ago I had to go to the emergency room. While I was being admitted, I was asked what religion I am (why the relevance? Who knows?) Anyways, I was afraid to say JW because I knew they would call the elders. (I was still a semi-dub at the time)
Anyways, long story short, I said I was "Christian." But my good-ole-dad said, "She's JW." Too sick to argue but spoke up anyways I said, "No! I am Christian!" The lady at the hospital said, "Ma'am if you're JW, we need to know because we will notify your elders right away." I swear to God that was what she said.
She proceeded to happily state, "We have an arrangement with your local church to notify them if any of their people come in."
So I adamantly stated to the surprize of my dad, "NO I AM NOT JW!"
Needless to say, it doesn't take a person in a records department to cause the trouble. The whole system is in trouble. We got hospitals here thinking they are doing a good deed by calling elders. We have some serious PR work to do. The word needs to get out that there are JWs who DO ACCEPT BLOOD and would LOSE THEIR FAMILIES if they were found out.
Anyways, that's about all the time I have tonight. Please respond. This thread is interesting.

Waiting, while I respect your view, I don't agree with it.
It's hard to apologize, especially when it leaves you open to libel suits in the future. But they did. It took a lot of legal maneuvering to get the apology. But in the end they got it.
I hate priests and anybody else who victimizes children. Don't you think the majority of Catholics feel the same way? Or the majority of Catholic priests? If I were a Catholic priest, I would really hate priests who molest children, making me suspect in the minds of the public. Man, I would really, really HATE pedophile priests. And I would do everything in my power to expose them.
The fact is that the majority of priests are not child molesters. And I believe the apology is sincere. But you know, the law does get in the way of sincerity sometimes. Like if you were at fault in an auto accident, you can't even say you're sorry because you open yourself up to a lawsuit. Yet, you might really be sorry.
Anyways, I am just rambling my thoughts. I have known literally hundreds of Catholic priests in my lifetime. There was one once who I am sure would have loved to molest me if given the chance. But he didn't have the chance. Out of all those years and all those priests, just one and he didn't even do it. The rest were very good, faithful, holy (in my opinion) men.

Why do you all keep wasting your time with this obvious troll? Even his statement about it not mattering whether he supports the Watchtower and what matters is the argument shows he is a WT supporter who is only here to keep lurkers confused. His arguments sound just like WTS arguments.
The bottom line is this, whether they SIGNED a form that said they support the UN or not is irrelevant. They became involved in a partnership with the beast PERIOD! The same type of relationship they condemn other religions for.
The reason why is irrelevant. Other religions have reasons too.
They lied to the beast to destroy the beast. This has got to be the most hilarious one of all. Is the beast destroyed? Guess Jehovah's Spirit was too weak.
Let me anticipate the next excuse: "Some" thought they could speed up the process of having the beast destroy religion by getting into the nucleus of the beast. But now "new light" has shown them how presumptuous they were. As Jehovah's faithful organization, we would never want to give the impression that we supported the UN in any way. Bla bla bla....
Notice the SOME part.
Anyways, enough with this. Any lurker who is reading needs to skip all the hooplah and go from point A to point B to point C to find out the truth.

Hawk, I sent the following letter before I read your post oooops! But I don't think it's bad. We'll see what happens and I plan on being the "squeaky wheel" since we know this reporter is interested in religions.
In response to the article on the Mormons and Shunning by William Lobdell:
William Lobdell's article on the Mormon's shunning, really hit the nail on the head to a victim of this same abusive policy through the Watchtower Society - legal entity for the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Although the Watchtower's official media website makes the claim that "Those who simply cease to be involved are not shunned..." thousands who have tried it know better!I know of no other religion which will shun a member for simply approving a blood transfusion to save their child's life. From 1967 to 1980 anyone who received an organ transplant was said to have committed "cannibalism...living off the flesh of another" (Watchtower 11/15, 1967) and subsequently shunned by the congregation. The same reasoning and scriptures which were used by the Watchtower to condemn organ transplants are currently applied to blood therapies.
Compounding the situation, many hospitals have set up "Hospital Liaison Committees" with the local congregations and upon the admittance of any JW, an elder is notified. This puts extreme durress on the JW to refuse potentially life-saving blood products, knowing that if they do not they will be shunned by all of the congregation, including their own relatives.
Some Jehovah's Witnesses find themselves having to deny that they are JWs out of fear of being found out to have received a blood product not on the current "approved" list of the Watchtower - a list which is continually changing. Only recently have fractions of all of the major blood components been added to the approved list, disregarding the fact that thousands have lost their lives due to refusing those very items. It is difficult to imagine being in the position of having to decide between living and losing your family or dying. Many choose the latter.
While the Mormon leadership - the "Quorum of the Twelve Apostles" seem to be making some attempts at "embracing" non members and former members, the "Governing Body" of Jehovah's Witnesses have not even recognized that the shunning practice for those who leave due to conscience reasons, many times their inability to comprehend the arbitrary nature of the blood doctrine, violates the most basic of human rights and liberties. This article is also perfect for showing those witness relatives of ours who shun us. They will see how much similarity they have to mormons. And it is perfect because the mormons have the 12 apostles = the GB; they call people who leave "apostates;" they shun their own relatives; they don't let their kids play with non-mormons and they also go door-to-door.
This is a good one!
