PS, Sirona, I forgot to say that they always seem to forget that their claim that the Tet was removed by the end of the 1ST CENTURY. This means that there was actually NO CANON at that time. The canon was formulated with final authority in the 4TH CENTURY -- by an "apostate" church (according to them).

So, according to their reasoning, the same apostates who removed the Tet from the New Testament, yeah, the same ones who formulated the Trinity doctrine, those anti-Christs are the ones who gave them their canon of the Bible!

This was basically the gist of my correspondece with them and THEY HAD NO ANSWERS! They sent me copies of meaningless and irrelevant articles and asked the same question, which basically means, "Who else looks like us, acts like us, smells like us - except for us? So follow us because we're us...."

Standard letter. Similar responses as to several letters we exchanged a couple years back. And of course, they are the ONLY ones doing Jehovah's will upon the earth. How could you doubt that dear?

Familes - the WTS Biggest Problem

there are a lot of interesting obstacles facing the watchtower.. potential lawsuits, legal challenges to the door to door work,.

declining revenues, general loss of zeal, exposure on the internet,.

and loss of publishers in western nations come to mind.. yet, there is no obstacle greater, in my opinion, than the.

Were you out of the borg when you did this? If not, how in the world did you come up with such an ingenious idea? I wish I had been as smart a parent as you!

I remember when I first was recruited I looked around and wondered about so many divorced and remarrieds in the congregations. I then believed they all came in that way. Little did I know.

Eventually I witnessed marriages break up. In my six short years of association, I witnessed numerous breakups due to adultery WITHIN a congregation. Two couples actually wife-swapped and married each others wives. I saw teenagers get pregnant. Two children were molested (one of them mine). Almost every sister was on Prozac or some other anti-depressant. More than a couple of prominent brothers tried to get into the sack with me even though I was married to a non-believer. One of them even suggested that we would be df'd for a year and then we could come back. And that was within the first two years!

I always tell my husband (new hubby) that the reason I continue fighting the borg is because if no one fought it, it would continue to swindle people out of their lives. But looking at it now, I think they will dissipate with or without us. They are their own worst enemies.

What "channel" do you believe God used to give us - not the Bible - but the CANON of the Bible? Were these men/women inspired? Were they Holy? Is it possible that they made a mistake in including this book but excluding that? Were they led by the holy spirit?

After you have responded to these questions, I will make my point based on your answer. Thanks.

I could'nt believe my eyes!!

i was hanging around my mom's house yesterday, and i just happened to leaf through the january 8th afake!

magazine, about the wtc disaster.. no doubt that perhaps many of the sept. 11 experiences are real, but what i mostly read were these shameless advertisements for the watchtower complex in downtown brooklyn!!

i was appalled!!

A Beautiful Mind

i see quite a few movies during the year but this one really stands out as the best i've seen for a long time.

russell crowe was fantastic and no longer will i remember him just as the gladiator.

jennifer connelly was more than the attractive girl in this one.

Poll: Successful Reactivations by Elders?

hi all,.

all my experience is that once a jw begins to question the organization, a irreversible progression sets in that leads inexorably to a total disaffection with the organization that no amount of ``shepherding'' can change.. so my question to you all is: can we document one single case in which a disgruntled ex-jw was successfully reactivated/restored to loyal dubdom?

(my impression is that the efficacy of elders' ``shepherding calls'' is a myth, a total waste of time).

German JW, good points. I see my sister in the same way. She is hooked because she has her complete social network in the cult. She has seen some of the stuff I have shown her and shrugged her shoulders in a "so what" fashion as well.

When we became inactive we got some shepherding calls which annoyed us to no end. Once the elder said to us, "You cannot have Jehovah's spirit if you're not going to the meetings." I wanted to kick him in the mouth!

Another time we were laying naked on our living room carpet and they knocked and rang our doorbell way too many times. They knew we were home. We decided to moan and groan loudly so they would hear us and leave. They didn't! That pissed me off because they just didn't care how we felt.

A couple of times they came and said we were "valuable" in the congregation and we were missed. But it was too late. We were gone due to doctrinal reasons -- basically we didn't believe in things like spirit appointment, GB appointed by God in 1914, etc. but we still believed in paradise earth, no eternal soul, etc. Now we don't believe in any of their shitty teachings.

I knew a "sister" who told us that she refused to talk to her own sister even though she got reinstated because according to her, she had only come back so she would be talked to by the family. So even if ones do go back, it's rarely for good. It's like if I were ever to go back it would be just so my sister would talk to me. And sorry sis but you aint worth it!

Bad news, folks!

my teenage son approached my husband and me yesterday to inform us that he wants to get baptized at the summer convention.

ugh!.

he hasn't shown an interest in witness things for several months until a cousin from up north came to visit and took him out in service all day.

That's very scarry. I don't know but I have a feeling he might be interested in a JW girl being around his cousins and all. Aren't his cousins leading the usual double lives that 99% of JW youth do? If they are, then he will surely see the hypocrisy.

Having recently broken up with a girlfriend could also be the cause.

My advice is to be really open minded with him. I would say this if it were my daughter, "Well, I respect your feelings of wanting to get baptized. In the 'Truth' book it says that a religion that tells lies cannot be true and it also says that every sincere person should investigate their religion. So I feel that for a decision of this magnitude you should thoroughly investigate the religion of your choice PRIOR to committing yourself to it forever and I am willing to assist you with this investigation."

Then be ready with as much information to challenge the 1914 doctrine and the FDS doctrine. But don't attack. Just ask leading questions. Help him to reach the most logical and TRUTHFUL position.

As for You Know, I used to believe he was sincere and deceived. Now I am with the others who believe he is the deceiver. Pay no attention to him.

change of position on DF'd persons?

ummm...question re my mothers status...she got dfd 3 months ago and expected to be shunned.

indeed, i told her she would be shunned.. but she reckons that everyone is being real nice, talking to her in the street, etc, has there been a change of policy?.

ive been out a long time and would have expected shunning.. shes starting to think of me as a false prophet.

Wish they would soften up but I don't think so either. My sister goes out of her way to shun me and even called me on the phone to tell me to call her and tell her where I'd be so she could shun me LOL. Two days ago I got an e-mail from her telling me not to send her e-mails. LOL.

12/15/2001 WT; Christmas ok if married to non-JW?

i was wondering if someone has the full text of the article on p.28 of the 12/15/2001 wt, in the questions from readers?.

i understand that there is an article which appears, to some, to indicate a softening of attitude regarding christmas.

i'm told that it is now ok for a jw wife married to a non-jw husband to participate in some family christmas activities as long as she doesn't regard this as an act of worship.. i would really like to have a copy of the exact wording.. many thanks!.

I'm still fuming and had to make another post.

I think that they are trying to ease the way for "sisters" to marry outside of the "truth." Think about it. Numbers are declining and we all know that those that convert are usually because they marry someone already in or other relative connections. So if one of those knock-out young pioneer sisters marries say a lawyer, doctor, architect, etc. who is not a JW, she can woooo him into dubdom by appearing to be "balanced."

They might just be realizing that they are going to have to soften up on these issues if they are going to attract any more converts.

I can just see my poor sister now after she was encouraged to dump her fiance and told how difficult her life would be married to an unbelieving mate due to thing such as this. Now she's reading this article and seeing that it wouldn't have been so hard after all - 4 years too late!

Instead she's getting older each year and still a spinster with virtually no chance of finding a mate seeing her competition grow each year with more and more pretty young sisters graduating high school and becoming "eligible" for marriage.

I just detest this SEXIST organization more every day and look forward to its downfall! The sooner the better!
