  The WT has failed to explain fundamental doctrines

  sadly the wt failed to teach fundamental biblical doctrines.

  i did never really understand the doctrine about ransom while i was still in the congregation.. i did not either understand what it really means that "god is love" as stated in the bible.

  i did not either understand from the wt what is love.

  As a youngster growing up , I too did not understand the ransom doctrine. By my teens I felt too embarrassed to ask, I mean ,you are supposed to know this… right?

  So, since I assisted the Magazine Servant I had a key to the KHall ( that would not happen today) One Saturday afternoon I let myself in and delved into the library with the old written indexes. I looked up everything all about the ransom. Having read it all, I finally got it… Job done.

  My point is , if you don’t know, look it up ! It is much easier these days with stuff on line.

  Watchtower July 22 - JWs being interrogated need to muzzle their mouths

  the watchtower has printed a disturbing article about self control and gives this instruction to the r & f .

  self-control also allows us to remain silent when opposers try to trick us into revealing things that could endanger our brothers and sisters.

  this might occur when we are being interrogated by the police in a land where our work is banned or restricted.

  I would not expect the Wt to say that - “ it is up to you whether or not you rat out your brothers to an opposing authority. “

  Actually this comment reads like it came from a 1950s Watchtower. They still have a persecution complex. It shows they still view the outside world as the enemy, just waiting to pounce.

  Random thoughts on the Jubilee in the UK

  saluting the flag was something not encountered very often here in the 1970s uk, in fact that kind of nationalism or patriotism was something i'd been warned about as a young boy, being brought up in the jehovah's witnesses from age 4, through meetings and the publications.

  at some point, i don't know when, i decided it was more american, whether rightly or wrongly.. but even so, there was a large black and white photo of our entire school in panoramic format right outside my classroom on the wall saluting the flag, and i think this was the 1977 25 year jubilee of queen elizabeth ii.. now as a young person attending a fairly religious school in the 1970's, you were used to "making a stand" for things, letter in hand first day in a new class, and being ushered into one room or another to avoid religious assemblies and other xmas, and other seasonal celebrations.. one day the teachers, in their abundant wisdom, stood myself and a younger witness in the corridor right outside the assembly hall where the children would filter past.

  every second or third child that filtered past would ask, "why are you standing there?

  Saluting the flag is an American thing that I never encountered, growing up in England. The issue was standing for the National Anthem. The grown up dubs would deliberately sit down and revel in the animosity they created.

  As I grew up we tried to find out when it would be played at any event we attended and slip out beforehand. In later years the practice of playing it has largely stopped except at international sports events …

  I felt for Witness kids during the Jubilee build up . I remember how hard it was at school when you are a child dealing with these things

  The Watchtower’s definition of a generation is just plain wrong and not in line with any dictionary that I could find.

  The fact that we are still here in 2022 shows that the “time of the end “ could not have started in 1914.

  the last 2 1/2 years have been extremely stressful.

  while the rest of the world was dealing with covid, i was also dealing with cancer.

  in fact it seems none of my doctors knew about it.

  As one reads Matt 24 it destroys the whole concept of Adventism , from which JWs have come. The idea of predicting when he would return was spoken against bt Jesus. He said to keep on the watch …. never knowing when the day would come . Just be ready, whenever.

  Beards- just told by an elder

  i know this subject has been talked about lots over the years, just thought i would share a recent finding from canada.. while visiting with a group of friends, an elder (don’t recall how the subject came up) mentioned the local body had voted to allow brothers with beards be allowed to give talks from the platform.

  (it was a very close vote).

  the direction given was for each congregation to decide for themselves if that is now acceptable.. so some congregations will be for, and for many it will not.. it’ll probably be a long time before we see any pictures on the watchtower where they’re allowing this though..

  I saw immediately the blatant lie about individuals using their own conscience as to shun.

  I wondered how an organisation known as The Truth could do that. But then I remembered being told about “ theocratic strategy “, I.e. that they don’t owe the truth to opposers of their work . If they view the Governments as the agents of Satan then maybe they feel free to be “ economical with the truth” , as a politician once put it .

  This old quote says it all . After discussing Rahab hiding the Jewish spies and misleading the soldiers, it says

  Wt 1956 Feb 1st

  “Remember that there was war then. The enemies did not deserve to learn the truth to the hurt or endangerment of Jehovah’s servants. In wartime it is proper to misdirect the wolfish enemy.“
