If we have close family that are active dubs, to me it makes no sense to d/a oneself.
My wife is active and true believer , although not entirely brainwashed. When I stepped aside from the WT and gave up my responsibilities, things were fraught and could have gone either way. Now though we get on fine , just don’t discuss it anymore. She is great and I am so glad we are together. I can still deal with the local dubs and before Covid we could socialise as a couple.
thursday while i was at work, a new elder stopped by the house (almost 3 years after fading) to encourage us to go back to meetings.
said everyone misses us.
if you did, why not stop by and say hi every now and then?

I admire your attitude towards them. I am still on speaking terms but they mostly leave me alone. When they come , they will want to put you on the spot to answer their questions. If you let them control the conversation they can tie a person up in knots and you would have to deny the faith completely to get out of agreeing with them.
Make them answer your questions. Employ a Socratic technique by giving them some unexpected questions to answer...

Irrespective of the way it is paid, would someone please explain to me what this suggested donation per area is all about?
The basic principle that we ever knew was that all donations were freely given just much as you could afford, remember the widow’s mite?
The only suggested donation was for the congregation to the Assembly Hall, based on the number of publishers. That was paid from the cong. Funds and did not affect the publishers.
So, what is this set donation figure ?

It is hard to judge the zeal and enthusiasm of the flock these days . The fear of covid still affects those that I know. They are not yet back at the KHall. It will be interesting if the Society has them restricting zoom passwords to those whom they judge as deserving?

i found it ironic that the symposium "put away peace wrecker inappropriate boasting".
was presented by a helper to the publishing committee.
and all of the other talks were given by, if not gb members, but by helpers to the various committees.
I ,and the couple of believing dubs that I have family relationship with, were somewhat puzzled by this presentation. One of them was really perplexed.
I didn’t really get it , but it appeared to be that this one JW Hayley , made her living as a social media influence . Was she a pioneer? I am not sure. .
The segment was teaching the need to avoid boasting, envy and anger , maybe more I forget..The faults seemed to lie with the gaggle of friends, I saw no criticism of the main character.... I thought they were not supposed to use Social Media?..
Are American congregations really like that? I mean full of wealthy looking ‘sisters’ who looked like “Hollywood Wives” , sitting around in coffee shops gossiping about each other .
It didn’t look like any congregation I know.......
is there any new music or singers whatsoever nowadays or just junk?
and how about movies, besides documentaries is there anything at all, any movie at all, any new actor at all that that has any real worth to watch and enjoy or is it all a boring waste of time.

I am struggling to find a reason for this digital publication. We have an 8 page excerpt from the Bible book of Mathew containing the sermon on the mount. It is without comment or artwork.
It is very nice but I ask , why?
( perhaps they are letting the scripture speak for itself , for once)

The cong announcement mentions those with covid or maybe spreaders to stay at home , and misapplies Scriptures to coerce them back .What about those with weakened immunity? The trouble is that people will feel pressured, feel guilty and go when they shouldn’t.
today i watched my 1st wt drama video since 30 years ago when i quit as a jw member.
the strange thing is that i did not choose to start watching this video.
it was my wife who's never been a witness, who started going over the jw.org site, and came across the new videos.
Sitting at home and watching a video they must be tons better than a film of one of our old dramas. They were performed by bods like us miming to a pre recorded tape (which in the U.K. sounded way too American) and gesturing wildly to make a point....
At a stadium though, performed live , I enjoyed the old ones far more . There was the buzz of a live performance and you knew it was your best friend out there under the frock and beard and you prayed that he did not screw up! Would the right prop be in the right place ? That all added to the excitement of it.
Despite the slick videos, I enjoyed those old dramas more and remember them though the recent videos are soon forgotten.
