Mercy killing a la Dr Kavorkian is not the same as a “ do not resuscitate “ order . The one hastens death to put you out of pain and misery, the other just allows things to take their course rather than artificially keeping you alive.

I guess it was the latter that the WT was talking about rather than hastening things. However, at the end of life it is between you and God, isn’t it. If you were in a desperate situation I don’t think you would stop to ask The Society.

Who raised Jesus from the dead?

i have seen arguments surrounding jesus' resurrection being proof of "the trinity" - now while in some cases it's a good argument the evidence for it remains very weak.

(bible quotes are from the nwt but other bibles are referenced, use whichever you please) this following version of it is a good example.. "the bible indicates that all [persons] of the trinity was involved in jesus’ resurrection.

galatians[1:1] says that the father raised jesus from the dead.

As has been said, arguments have gone on for 2000 years , and in the end you believe what you want.

For me, one of the few things the WTS have got right is the nature of Jesus and the falsehood of the trinity. There are two different beings, God and Jesus.

Why didn’t we see it like that when we were in? Actually I did have worries about the morality of Armageddon, but I smothered them and pushed them to the back of my mind. I guess I was not ready to face it then.

these guys have really lost the plot.. i can promise you that bible does not say a flying flaming about world cup.. however, as much as people want them to, these events cannot provide lasting unity.

Peaceful Pete made a good comment on the previous page. To read this you would think that dubs are totally heartless,and we know that is not so.

I recall once that a severely emotional sister had been recently housed in a tower block that scared her and gave her thoughts of jumping from the balcony. Another Witness family took her in for a bit until she was allocated a ground floor flat . That one was a wreck so lots of lads in the cong were co opted to decorate, which we deed with good grace.

Now that only happened because one elder was caring enough to organise it . The trouble in the .Org. Is that there is no organised provision for physical care . There should be an elder position specifically for it . There is not because those at the top do not take it seriously.

Are the teachings of JW—consistent?

i would belief so but if you can point something out, it can be discussed.. i don’t mean what jw taught in the past that they later realized was not correct and amended.

—unless you think and can show something like that is relevant.. i’ve spoken to a lot of believers from different religions.

i don’t want to bash any religion here under this topic but their beliefs are inconsistent and their reasons are sophistry and made up and grounded on circular reasoning.

The scriptures are fine , and the basic scriptural truths about God , Jesus and his return are found in most religions. It is the special understanding of things that the WT has , that is illogical.

Christ is supposed to have returned invisibly in 1914., that is 108 years ago! For me the time lapse is no longer credible, seeing that Jesus said “ this generation “ . The attempt to explain this by overlapping generations, still being that generation, are pure invention.

I could go on , with their u turns and abandoned beliefs , all presented as divine revelation but I am sure others will do so

I have known more than one Witness who claimed to have lived their life in constant prayer to God and saw his hand in every little thing . When little things went wrong it was “what is Jehovah teaching me here? “ . However most of us were not like that.

So why do some seem to get a lot of help from their congregation and others not ?

I believe it is down to personality and, the more you give ,the more you receive, like in any community. Sisters that were always involved, always willing to help and being interested in others will receive help from their many friends. Those of us more of a quiet nature , keeping to ourselves… well , no one notices if we are not there and are less minded to put themselves out for us. That’s human nature.

A Christian congregation is supposed to be better than that , offering a hand to all members regardless… but , you know how it is…..

i have the original release of the aid to bible understanding book (english), copyright, 1971 (inside front cover).

only if there is a later copyright date cited in your aid book will i need your help.

i wish to make a word for word comparison of certain articles that were found in the aid book, then transcribed into its predecessor -- the insight on the scriptures.. .

My 1971 Aid book says the same as the o/p posted from the Insight book, ie, that Sodomites may get a resurrection.

We all know that the Society has swung to and fro on this scripture, the Witnesses even chuckle about how silly it has all been …. So what are we trying to prove?

1969 Awake on Education - A Sore Spot for Me

my father would have started college 49 years ago this week.

about three months earlier, the week he graduated high school, the awake!

magazine came out with some very clear direction to teenagers.

Sadly, I can remember taking part in an Assembly Drama that directed young ones to pioneer . I played the role of a young man’s career advisor doing my best to persuade him to secure a future for himself.The Drama showed the perils of materialism ,and of course at the end he did the “ right” thing.

I was miming to a tape recording but I do hope that my small part did not cause young people to miss out
