I must agree with Peaceful Pete here. My attitude was not intended to be supportive of WTS , just clarifying things. While they do not teach daily divine protection they do love to give accounts from the Bible and modern “experiences” that suggest Godly care. It is no wonder that people get the wrong idea.

How did it come to this?
by New day ini am now in my early 60’s.

Your story sounds a lot like mine except that I gave even more years to the treadmill. With me the elders have largely left me alone, with a few well meaning exceptions. I even felt a bit ignored although now it is for the best .
It is easy to look back in regret but I have tried to enjoy the rest of this life .. Best wishes to you.

Second school
by llubrevlis2000 inhas the auxiliary class or second school been done away with?.
when i grew up in my congregation we even had three schools, so three bible readings and three lots of student assignments.. after covid it seems everything is easier, less assignments now some only seem to get one or two per year.. being an elder is much easier these days, everything is done for you.
meetings are full of videos and q&as need no preparation you could take a watchtower or cong book study with zero preparation and most midweek meetings have q&as that requires no preparation .

The Ministry School has been abolished entirely so the question does not arise. These field ministry presentations that they do these days are different. I have never seen any suggestion that they divide the meetings

Blood question re: sample for testing
by carla inwhy can jw's give blood samples for testing in a medical setting?
i was with someone once (non jw related) who was getting multiple tests done and they must have taken a good pint all together in separate vials.
how do jw's square this with their blood policies?

All they know or care about is that the Governing Body say that is ok . That is all they need.

There is this urban myth that JWs are told that their lives will be protected in God’s service. It is obvious that it does not happen and neither are they promised that.. If some dubs want to believe it , it is up to them . This is a long passage but shows my point. I certainly do not share their strange logic about God’s purpose but here it is:-
Awake ,96 4/8
“To understand why divine protection is given, we must understand that it is given not simply to enable individuals to live longer but to protect something far more important, the outworking of God’s purpose. For example, the survival of the Christian congregation as a whole is guaranteed because it is closely linked with the fulfilling of that purpose. However, Christ plainly told his disciples that they as individuals could face death because of their faith. After stating this, Jesus stressed, not miraculous deliverance, but ‘endurance to the end.’ (Matthew 24:9, 13) The fact that some individuals were protected, while others were not, does not indicate that God is partial. God simply used the person who was in the best position to accomplish his purpose, which ultimately will benefit all mankind.
Since untimely death in God’s service is a real possibility, Christians should have the same balanced attitude as …………”

If this is the case , the Society told them ages ago not to hold any documents or notes relating to such things . In the congregation safe there will be the official forms they send to NY when a JC disfellowships someone but it is my guess they would be told not to submit them .

That’s nothing to crow about or make light of . The poor man has been murdered. When is America going to bring some sensible gun laws? .?
………
“ Miguel Perez, 54, of Rockford, was found dead in his vehicle on the 1300 block of 7th Avenue.
Neighbors told police the man and his family are Jehovah’s Witnesses and were reaching out to people in the area at the time.
Witnesses of the crime told police the man was sitting in his vehicle waiting on family members when a shot was fired from a passing white vehicle.”

things shelved, not looked into because of group think
by enoughisenough inhere are some things i never really believed the jw taught...i just didn't really examine it closely.
i shelved it, so to speak, thinking no one is perfect and they know more than me...if i ever thought about it at all.. i never believed that only jws would be spared at armageddon.
i never believed the where in james, you went to the elders to confess being spiritually sick-always thought that referred to a real illness.

Yes, for a long time I used to shelve issues about the faith. I would tell myself that they know better than me so…. It must be ok. I suppose the truth of it was that I was so locked into it socially and with family that I did not dare to rock the boat.
However, eventually yo get to the point when you do dare to think the unthinkable and really question the beliefs . Then it all falls apart.
Groupthink is what it is. Well.. they like to call themselves sheep.!

The demise of the public mags is astounding… back in the day Saturday morning magazine work was a really big deal . Every month there was a special Saturday where we had a big push and the KHall would be full of us all going out.. Everyone did mag work , if nothing else . I can remember offering “two for ten pence” old money, and people paid.
We had fun in those days , never thought it would come to this..
