Blood Card Check

i remember many years ago that apparently there was an annual event where witnesses' blood cards (or whatever they're called) were checked by some visiting wt dignitary.

that the blood cards were current, and that the r&f were carrying them.. given the situation in some countries that kingdom halls can't legally keep data about people who have been visited, is the practice of checking and enforcing the carrying of blood cards similarly illegal in some places?.

are there any places where it is illegal for the hlc to set up camp near the hospital bed of a sick jw?.

I do have a memory that group leaders were once told to ask the members to make sure their blood cards were complete. Also I believe that they were asked to give a photo copy of it to the congregation to be kept by the Secretary. However, checking the “ Shepherd the Flock” book , it says nothing like that now. Data protection laws finished that off , I expect. The elders never bothered to ask anyway.

Incidentally, the book also says that HLC have to get the patient’s consent before getting involved or talking to doctors.

Conscience Issues

thought inspired by my post on tattoos: within the watchtower organisation, how many "conscience issues" actually are?

are people who actually do exercise their consciences in grey areas painting a target on their backs for the more hard-line dubs?

are they quietly avoided because " bad associations spoil useful habits"?

Many years back the WT ran a series of study articles on the “Christian Conscience” and made clear that we carry the responsibility for the outcome of such decisions w make..

That was then. Today the Org. has become much more black and white with people spoon fed instructions... It does not make for a mature Christian society.

I think a little context is required about this . If I am right this is talking about a donation that a congregation makes to the WWWF , not an individual donation by the Publisher. I guess the congregation hopes it will get it back from donations but there is no obligation on a Publisher to do so.

Am I right?

yeah, so i know nigel farage is a bit of an abrasive twat.. he no doubt holds views that other people disagree with.. but that doesn't mean his bank can just tell him to sod off and freeze his accounts.. such a thing might go on in commie china or authoritarian russia.

no doubt hitler closed lots of jewish people's accounts in nazi germany, too.. but the fact that it is happening here, in the yew-kay, is pretty chilling when you consider this country is supposed to champion freedoms, including the one to hold and express varying political views.. this seems to be part of a trend to delegitimise and cancel people who hold certain views.. i remember looking at a yt video of richard dawkins questioning muslim journalist mehdi hassan about his belief in flying horses and muhammad.

all fair analysis and criticism by dawkins until he suggested that hassan shouldn't be a journalist because of his beliefs.

Coutts are a very exclusive bank for the very rich and it is not for the likes of you and me. They select their customers. Admittedly the handling of the matter may be poor but surely they can accept or reject who ever they want . If , for example we had a political figure akin to Oswald Mosley in the last century, would you say the same about his right to bank with royalty.?

The Co Op Bank has an ethical policy which means that , for example ,if a CEO of a company making land mines wanted an account, they would tell him to go elsewhere. Is that policy under threat now?

If your wife is the patient, surely it is up to her to decide what she tells him. If it were me in your position I would willingly stand up to him and tell to go…… if my wife was unhappy about him . You have to remember that many dubs view it as loving care from a “shepherd “.

At what point, does one become apostate to the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses?

at what point does a jehovah’s witness cease to be a jehovah’s witness?

what if a witness doesn't believe some of the official teachings of the governing body but remains silent on these subjects to avoid being disfellowshipped?

is he or she an apostate to the faith?

What is an apostate? When his Elders judge him so.

If you are lucky and have got a more reasonable man who doesn’t want to do a JC anyway, you may get away with questioning the beliefs , if you do so politely.

Another Bof E may take a dim view of your failure to toe the line and see you as a danger to the cong. Of course if you have the sort of dub family that rat you out and complain about what you say at home - you are done for…..

This guy’s approach is more reasonable and gives background info so I can believe him.

This would show that AM3 is still in good standing although not on the GB . Perhaps there was was a need in that cong. or maybe he requested it ? Anyway ,God help the dubs in Lumberton, I don’t envy them having him among them.

Incidentally that is a nice house , If it were around this part of the U.K. it could cost double what they paid.

It seems very irresponsible to me to make such statements. Of course figures can be manipulated to show what you want . Somebody once spoke of “ Lies, Damned Lies and statistics “

I don’t care that the Catholic Church fares better or worse in a league table of depravity . I know that both organisations claim to represent God On Earth and both fail miserably.

Just bring the perpetrators to Court and care for the victims... that’s all

the twickenham post made me think of this.

i have a few jw family members on facebook and being summertime, their pics of the convention have shown up in my fb feed.

along with their comments about "i wished it would never end" or "what a glorious weekend".

Yes.. I did... call me a nerd ( probably right) but there were times when I was really motivated as a dub. Some of the old time speakers were really good at it and had a freedom that you don’t see today . They could really motivate. At trend , At Twickenham with a huge crowd singing “ We Thank You Jehovah “ .... brought tears to the eyes.

The whole experience was better too, with food service and all.
