No need to hassle Bribie . I understand completely that letter writing is a deadly boring thing to do. I hated doing it in the past when I needed time. Personally, I never enjoyed H to H ministry, but I have known several who really did . I guess you are one of them.

I have not heard that it has closed . As far as I know it re opened after Covid. I have many memories of meeting there , I testify to the Nazi style attendants and the roping off of the Balcony…. “ You will sit where WE SAY you will sit”
I helped ( or hindered) on occasion in the rebuilding of it.. I’m not a handyman. We assisted some days in the kitchen too , that was fun.. I remember the names mentioned on here , different era.

Who will be killed at Armageddon?
by ExBethelitenowPIMA inif the current doctrine is that only baptised witnesses are going to survive and everyone else burns them what about this new update new light that some from before the flood and sodomites will be resurrected?.
but didn’t he mention at the agm something about there is no point jehovah killing them and then resurrecting them again?
it seems they are confused about what they teach and that’s why brother jackson joked about “is this what we used to believe or what we believe now?”.

I know what has been said about the AGM but I want to hear he the talks fully and in context before I am sure what they are now saying. The devil may be in the detail or what they do not say.

Jah-Jireh are going strong in England, I know a couple of oldies that have gone there. It is news to me that they are American owned. Their website only speaks of them here with a head office in Preston, England.

We used to ask these questions as far back as the ‘60s. The answer was always, wait and see…There are are a good many reasons why the ideal of living off the land with no economy or industry would not work.

BREAKING NEWS | Highlights of 2023 Worldwide Service Year Report
by Drearyweather inbreaking news | highlights of 2023 worldwide service year report.
on november 15, 2023, the service committee of the governing body shared highlights of the 2023 worldwide service year report with the bethel family.
the following exciting increases were announced: baptisms: during the 2023 service year, 269,517 persons were baptized.

I have heard dubs being delighted with the increases.. But surely it is irrelevant to compare with 2021/2022, when K.Halls were shut and no assemblies to get baptised in .. Who wants to get baptised in an elder’s bathtub? Let’s see how it evens out over the next year or two. And we look forward to the full report to see what did not go so well.

TODAY is my 56th anniversary of GOING TO PRISON as a Jehovah's Witness Conscientious Objector
by Terry inwhat happened to jehovah’s witness young men and why did it happen?______in the 1960s men of draft age were called upon to either serve in the military (during the vietnam war) or to comply with the alternate service option: serving in a hospital or community in need.. non-jehovah’s witnesses were faced with only one refusal: military service.jw boys and young men were instructed (in private) to refuse the alternate civilian service as well.
the superior authorities had made this exemption for people of conscience.the law was clear on this.
if we worked in a hospital community we would be free to go about our witnessing ministry - if we double-refused: we would languish in prison.a no-brainer to them.

Still, to Terry and the others … at least you did not end up in Vietnam and come home in a box or a wheelchair, like so many did… and your conscience is clear that you did not take part in that unjust war or kill the innocent.
That is seen from a UK perspective. You can tell that I have an anti war outlook and had I been involved, I would have identified with those who burnt their draft card .

Women in JW Ministry
by NotFormer inwomen make up the main population of the kingdom halls, and the pool of young males willing to step up to "serve" is drying up.
what is the likelihood of "new light" on jw women in ministry roles formerly held only by males?.
-
BluesBrother
When I was a child we had a sister in charge of Literature because there were not enough qualified males. I used to help her serve , counting out leaflets and so on . She was very efficient.
As has been said it was an unofficial appointment, doing the work without the title.

Thought on “0 hours” reporting
by FFGhost inso everyone knows the “big news” of this past weekend, no more reporting of hours, placements, return visits, etc.
beginning november 1, jws just tick a box indicating whether they “shared in any form of the ministry during the month”.. so there was a brief comment by a redditor that seems like a brief joke “throwaway comment” but after thinking about it….why not?.
the idea is, what is “any form of the ministry”?
-
BluesBrother
I do remember a time when that liberal view of Ministry was the thing but it didn’t last long . They soon redefined it as “ field service “ . This from a more recent Watchtower:
Wt 2019 (study) April
“EXPRESSION EXPLAINED: Our Christian ministry includes various aspects of preaching and teaching, construction and maintenance of theocratic facilities, and disaster relief work. “
Mind you, I shall view With interest what Uncle Sam Heard has to say in the imminent broadcast.

A Coin With a Remarkable History
by cofty inover the years i have shared a few examples of objects i have found while metal detecting near my home in northumberland in ne england.
i live in a rural estate that was the site of a medieval village with a manor house and defensive tower.
many of the things i find illustrate the amazing history of the location.
