there was on older white-haired circuit overseer in houston around 1989 or 1990. last name started with a w i think.... not sure though.

I would not go so far as to say that, I never liked him much , very businesslike and the changes he made ruined our cong. … I would agree with your assessment of his wife , Dodie. The sisters used to call her ‘ The Terminator’ because so many studies were stopped after taking her along.

Current blood card?

i have a question regarding the current blood card- did the blood card always have a spot where the jw gives the elders the authority to pull the plug (so to speak) and to admit them to a long term facility?

as well as no blood, naturally.

if the elders have no financial responsibility how is this possible?

I grew up near a small sea port . There was a local brother who took it on himself to go down and Witness to the crews on the ships. Everyone left it to him as a specialised territory…..This goes back to the ‘60s

how many of the millions of jws know it’s not true but stay anyway?.

my guess is most jws know it’s not true on a subconscious level to an extent but they don’t want to think about it too much and would never ever voice it out loud.. but this is probably true with all religions around the world?.

They don’t dare to think to hard ….. that is what got us on here , and they know that.
They just pray for more faith, leave “it all up to Jehovah “ and go with the flow….

Yes , “today it hardly seems fair”… We can often say that about parts of the Bible . I don’t claim to know the answers but I am willing to accept that since I was not there and we have only sparse information, I am in no position to judge.

This is really a two edged sword for JWs .
1) On the one hand it does support what we were told by WT , at the time that diseases such as AIDS and Hepatitis C can and were contracted from blood products.
2) On the other hand it shows that the blood fractions ,which they nowadays allow and seem to almost encourage, are just as liable to carry a disease, if one should be in it. . The haemophiliacs taking factor 8 were just as badly affected as anyone having a transfusion.
That fact seems lost on the JWs I know, who are too busy saying “ We told you so !”
They don’t want to know either…..

Please note that this article was published in 2008 , long before we had heard of Covid or there being any concerns over vaccines. I do not see anything different here to what they have said before.

Have to say that the zoomed program yesterday was a total disaster in this house. The older dubs hated the opening video with grinning idiots doing building work .. The 2 hours that followed was just “ branch experiences “ and reports from other places … The result being that by the time Ken Cooke started his talk they were reduced to slumber or complete annoyance with it all .

All congregations in the British branch area are to cancel the scheduled meeting this weekend and zoom into the Branch dedication event . It promises to be a 3 hour bladder marathon.
I am not looking forward to it . I am saddened by the razzmatazz that ExBethelite describes, sounds tacky and cheap . Any early updates would be appreciated, and a photo of that “courtroom”?

Yes, it was just as soon when I was a lad in the ‘50s … I knew old ones then who had expected it decades earlier and Russell and his mates expected it in 1914 … we are still waiting.
I do agree with OTWO that the doctrine of the JW is a very material paradise . The ore recent videos they have made show this very clearly .
