Quite right , but it's funny how it all seems to make perfect sense when you are on the inside.

"I also wonder what I will say to the one that finally tries her "informal" sneak attack."
That will be a great opportunity. Listen, feign interest, do not disclose anything. Just ask a question ; one that made you realise that it was not the truth. When they bluster, follow up. dont expect her to admit anything but just try and plant a seed of doubt.
These people are victims just as we were, and need help. I am just inactive but awaiting a showdown.
Take care, your life is just starting,

Questions From Readers-Complete Immersion?
by Mister Biggs inmust one get baptized (complete immersion) no matter how severe their handicap?.
(paragraph 2, sentence 3..."since baptism by complete immersion is a scriptural requirement, humans have no authority to exempt someone from baptism.".
my thoughts: what elder/co/do will dare take a risk in exempting one from baptism if they have been told by the society that no human has the authority to do this?

Yippee!
Congratulations to the man!
But if he is well thought of, or they are shorthanded, he must expect a lot of pressure to make him stay on the body, even if only "temporarily". He must be resolute.
The C/o only acquiessed to me when I piled it on a bit thick about having a secret love of "Heavy Metal Music", which is true ,although not the extremes that he was probably thinking of. Anyway he then dropped me like a hot brick and gladly accepted my resignation

Are teenagers old enought to get baptised?
by sleepy ini, like many on this board got baptised when still a teenager (17).. at the time i thought i knew what i was doing and could take full responsibility for my actions.. 10 years later i realise i knew very little back then compared to what i know now.. was i old enought to make my mind up?.
or could we always at any age ,be looking back at things we did wrong thinking if only i knew what i know now?.
actually how much responsibility can we hold over what we did as teenagers .weren't we pushed by the congregation and parents, we had little knowledge of anything else being force fed the "truth" since babies.. at such a young age aren't we much more vulnerable to brainwashing ?.

I was baptised at age thirteen. No family pressure, I really wanted to do it and felt that I should dedicate my life to "The Truth".
Of course I did not really know what I was doing. How can you make decisions for a lifetime when you are not yet grown up ?
If the WT were really following Bible precedent then they would stick to ADULT baptism.
Reborn is right, the article positively urges children to be baptised. At least it looks good in the figures.

Pub Record Card Policy
by VitoJW ini remeber in a bofe meeting with co, the comment was made by the co that w/o having the pub's record card on file, a congregation could not df someone, or at least would have to be very careful in doing so for legal reasons.
i thought at the time that he may have gotten his info from a letter from bethel.. has anyone else heard of such?
maybe i make them an offer they cannot refuse........

The Elders guidebook "Shepherd the Flock of God In your Care", page 104, says that
"If a person has moved from one congregation to another, do not make jurisdiction the issue.
Do you have the facts?,can you handle the case most effectively?
Then it may be appropriate for you to follow through without delay"There is more emphasis on whether or not a person is "Known in the community as a witness " or in recent association.
If you were right, an awful lot of us would now be in the clear!

One Miracle in my life
by Dawn ina while back there were some postings asking if miracles still happen today, so i thought this latest story from my life would be appropriate.. my husband's friend from work lost his father to cancer, shortly after that he lost his wife, also to cancer.
a few months ago his teenage son was diagnosed with bone cancer and not given a very good chance of survival.. i don't know this man, only met him once, and i never met his son.
but something inside me just made me so angry, and my heart so heavy -this could not happen.

Hey, lets give Dawn a break here.
She prayed sincerely, and the boy got better. Was it a co incidence or cause and effect? No body can say for sure.
The points about choices of people to be helped are good questions, and personally I would always hesitate before claiming that my prayer was answered.. but if someone is sure, who are we to say that it was not a miracle?

Help with "APOSTATE"
by moman inwe call the wt the "borg" & their followers "dubs" etc., these are describtive words that (we) have given them.. my question is this: why do we refer to ourselves as "apostates"?
this is their (derogatory) name for us.. what can we call ourselves, how bout "liberators"?
, this is difficult.

JW molester in the news
by silentlambs inhttp://www.bergen.com/page.php?level_3_id=7&page=3284376.
a west milford man pleaded guilty to child endangerment offenses friday for sexual encounters he had with two teenage girls he met through his membership at the jehovah's witnesses temple in town.. tom blankenship, 23, had been befriended by an elder at the church and was often invited over for meals and visits, said joseph del russo, passaic county chief assistant prosecutor.. from the fall of 1998 through april 2000, blankenship had sexual relations with one of the elder's relatives, a 17-year-old girl.
he had similar sexual contact with another relative, a 14-year-old girl, from june 2001 through feb. 21, del russo said.. although there was no physical force used in the incidents, blankenship was charged with multiple sexual assault charges because of the victims' ages.

Please note that the article does not sat whether or not the perpetrator was a fully baptised member of the cong, and it was the elder that turned him in .

preventing baptism of minors
by og inhere is the situation: my wife is a very faithful true believer (and a wonderful person, i will add, who really wants to do what's right) i have been da'd about a year, and we have 2 children.
our oldest is 13, and really buys into the witness line ( as, of course, i professed to until last summer) and i am fairly sure she is considering baptism.
here is my question: as one half of her parents, is there any legal doctrine that would allow me to prevent her baptism until she is 18?

*** w68 2/1 85 Parents' Moral Responsibility ***
Children of Christian parents who have been properly trained will eventually offer themselves willingly in dedication to Jehovah. Before permitting the child to undergo water baptism, however, the parents should be satisfied that he knows exactly what is involved.Notice the word "permit".
Scriptual headship still applies here , according to J W teaching.
Personally speaking I would have not wanted to go through the 80 questions and recommend a 13 year old for baptism if I knew that her father opposed it, even if he was d/a'd .
Anyway, some great postings above, good luck!
