Hi Sirona,
Big Big hugs and warm encouragement. You are very brave , keep hoping for the best because we all are . Our thoughts and prayers are with you
thanks for your support on my thread "bad day".. it seems things don't want to get better.
sorry for moaning, but i thought i'd update you all too.... firstly i saw the dental specialist today (remember, infected wisdom tooth?).
he said (after thorough examination, xray etc).

disfellowshipping, beyond what is written.
part one.
there has been much discussion on this board about the wts august insert in the kingdom ministry entitled: display christian loyalty when a relative is disfellowshipped.
The disfellowshipping principle is found in scripture, 2nd John 10 + 11. However the correct application of that and ,of course , the definition of apostasy remain all the Watchtowers own.
Also they have introduced some interesting new reasons, eg, smoking tobacco, causing divisions (Bill Bowen), etc or anything that suits their purpose
oh yeah , the can shall be opened very soon.. we were ratted on for smoking at the dance club a few weeks ago, the dub that did it told our elders and we just said to hell with it all, we don't beleive it is the "truth" anymore and want to disassociate ourselves.
we told the elders that smoking was not the problem, the borg was, the lies, the child abuse, the cover ups, the changes etc.
in fact i dont even smoke now.
For someone as devious as that, his thinking may have been to get rid of you as soon as possible. As soon as you are d/fd or d/a'd , then your testimony cannot be called upon. Even if the elders now suspect him, they cannot prove anything unless anotther witness comes forward. A tactical move on his part
lately, more and more elders are either resigning or being deleted.
a few elders have been known to be "good elders", brothers that really did care about the flock more than the organization.
some that are presently elders are having their own crisis of conscience.most elders that i have come to know are quite simply, not that bright.
I have to agree with Zev and others. some of the men I served with on bodies of elders were men that I was proud to be with and I still respect as human beings - a minority however!
One or two have already come to grief and been removed for something, by the company men.
My theory is that now too many elders have been raised in the borg and do not know the outside, so they let the "Big Brother" Org do their thinking. The men I was thinking of were older .had been in WW2 before learning dubdom and had charecters already formed
The congregations today are the poorer for their passing
one of the most striking things about this and similar message boards concerning jehovah's witnesses is the strength of feeling jw-related discussions evoke.
as i dabble in sociology, i was wondering what you all thought about the following questions.
my objective is not to criticize persons belonging to other group but rather to attempt to grasp the dynamics of the conflicts at work here.. the questions:.
When I did Psychology, basic level at night school - everyone had to do a project for the test. Are we your project Mr Soci?
We moan because we have been hurt. Either ,like me with a sense of a wasted life and what might have been, or many that have suffered REAL hurt . A brief look at the threads would show that to you.
Yes life in the Borg taught me a lot. A fascination with history/archeology, a thirst for knowlege and knowlege of the Bible. I knew some wonderful people and learned people/skills
But does that excuse
a] the total falsehood of their interpretation of Bible prophecy?
b] the fabrication of doctrines eg blood transfusion
c] Misrepresenting history , eg the "fact " that Jerusalem fell in 607 BCE? inconsequential until you realise that prophecy to prove the imminent end of the world hangs on this date.
d] the control they exercise and the power the elders have to instruct our families to shun us if we are cought posting on this board .
And you wonder why we are angry?
yep , it will happen next monday morning at 8:30 am.
all of my children will be attending their very first day of school, jake is 15, kelly is 9 and chance is 7. they are so excited about getting school supplies , backpacks, i almost said bookbags, lol , for the first time.
my daughter said this is her dream come true.
Hi Dede (another Eagles fan?)
I have always had mis givings about home schooling ,even when I was an active elder . It seemed that kids would miss out on so much. The day to day experience of coping with life at school is a bigger education than what they get from books, and it bothered me, when especially the younger ones were removed from school for very little reason.
Good luck to you all in your new life !
can i be disfellowedshipped for attending my family members wedding who is already disfellowedshipp.where is this in print?thanking you in advance for any help on this matter.
QBox : WT May 15 2002: "Would it be adviseable .......to attend a funeral or wedding in church?
Answer , in essence No! although in some cases they accept overiding circumstances, a dub would have to stand like a dummy and not be part of the prayers / singing etc.
In view of the fairly tough latest comment they aye sure to take a dim view of a wedding of the disfellowshipped, in or out of church.
Judicial action would depend on your past record and the personality of your local elders.
Go for it ! do not let them win!
L B & Stinkpanz had the right idea
life's complexity defies demand for a designer
by tom siegfried / the dallas morning news
life is complicated, and explaining it is more complicated still or so it would seem.
O K , I am just a layman with a basic education but I read
"Keeping time requires above all else absolutey reliable motion to guarantee near perfect predicabilityNature......produces complexity with wild abandon"
Surely any timepiece made by man, be it a Victoriam pocket watch or a modern digital , is only set to follow the timekeeping of the rotation of the Earth ,in 24 hours and the orbit of the Earth in c 365.25 days. Those time periods are accurate to a final degree , no "Wild abandon " there!
Sorry, I can nowadays read such articals with interest and a more open mind, but nothing has yet shown me that we are not the product of a wonderful designer.
it seems to me that many americans are convinced that europeans are for ever slagging off the usa for some reason or another.. just to set the record straight, america bashing is relatively rare in europe, most of us regard the usa with a not inconsiderable degree of affection.
obviously there are cultural differences between the continents that can lead to feelings being trampled on, but america-hating persons are quite rare over here.
the few real antagonists are very vociferous, but like most fundamentalists, regaded as being completely loony.. maybe the americans who have visited over here have an opinion?.
Macdonalds, Starbucks, Hilton Hotels, , along with The X Files, E R , Friends, along with a host of past T V shows all have added to the warmth that we feel toward the U SA . Kids wear sweat shirts with brand logo's Dallas ,Boston etc .
There is a certain reluctance to follow politically everything that the U S Government wants to do . It is seen as more likely to want to start a war than to prevent one and people are cautious to say the least in such issues
I am saying that we see a difference between the U S people and culture compared with the U S Govt. of the day and politics.
going to that funeral this week made me think about a few things.. first the family members that attended, who btw were not dubs, were shedding tears.
i did not see anyone else there crying even though the woman who died was a great friend and will really be missed.. now since the dubs have the hope of the "resurrection" does that allieviate their grief that they should normally posess?
does that mean they are "happy" when someone dies because their wait is over?
"Better than others? " it depends who the others are.
I am sure that a faith in a future life will of any kind always mitigate the pain , as against those who do not believe in any afterlife. My last words to my Mother were "Even if the worst happens, you know we will meet in the resurrection, and nothing can take that away" When she died, I firmly believed she would return to Earth , looking young again and in good health and would never die again.
If I had to deal with such a loss now, it would be much harder
