  to be able to properly "encourage one another, more so as you behold the end drawing near", we as jw's were instructed to do the following: .

  (1) stay after the meeting for "upbuilding association", and .

  (2) rather than talk about mundane things of life, discuss the finer points of the meeting just held.

  As the Secretary I was too busy running around with a list of "Congregation business" matters and people just had to see ,to be able to do a real job of talking to the "Brothers". A Good elder wasnt I ?

  No flames Metatron, I enjoyed your reasoning.

  But the amazing ability of Siamese twins to survive and adapt does not mean that God created or designed them that way. The dubs would just say "That is imperfection" . I have never considered that all creatures were painstakingly blue printed ,rather that the designed species have a level of adaptation to circumstances , and this may be mistaken for evolution. In fact the strength of the "design" of the human being is that even such twins may survive.

  I am sure the idea that "God is in everything" is not new. But it does not satisfy the simple logic that the wonder of this world points to a grand designer .Just my thoughts

  some here have heard about my son and the loss of his feet due to bacterial menengitis.

  yesterday he was finally fitted with his new feet.

  after standing and taking steps he was promised his new feet for next wednesday!

  It did not sound odd when I was a Witness!

  some times i will go out to lunch with some friends, or maybe they will have me over to dinner.

  in doing so they will some times ask me a question about the witnesses.

  normally it is because one of them works with one, or knows one in the family and they did not want to offend that person with a question that might sound rude or even silly.

  I find something everyday that has me thinking that way.

  Remember that many of us were raised in it with parents we respected who sincerely taught us the stuff. We were also exposed to outside teaching but we were pre disposed to disregard that as "Worldly" wisdom and meaningless compared to the "Truth". I guess also that we wanted to believe

  Members of closed groups,even Branch Davidians and George Jones' group (as extremes) found it all ok when they were within it.

  Resurection of billions will bring famine

  when billions of people resurect, in flesh and bone, their bodies will again need a source of energy: food.

  the world will be seriously overpopulated overnight and food will become scarce; should we expect cattle rustlers, gangs, tribal wars?

  will history repeat itself?

  Cattle rustlers? They always told me that we would be vegetarian!

  Perhaps that would be an excuse to kill off again the wrongdoers - a "ressurection of judgement" indeed.

  Seriously, if you can be about this baloney, the WT used to predict a steady and orderly ress. starting with the latest to die and working back to man's earliest ancestors - so that each ressurectee could be greeted by someone they know.

  How do they make this stuff up - and why the hell did we belieive it?

  i was in the grocery store and someone called my name.

  i turned around and it was a young ex jw sister who had been d/f several years ago.

  i walked up to her and hugged her , said i havent seen her in so long, yadda yadda.

  Nice post Dede,

  I always used to puzzle at the non active witnesses that we used to meet sometimes, they would almost always say "I know its the truth but..." If they believed it was true why not do it?

  There is this guilt trip as someone said, or maybe fear of Armageddon, - it certainly took me a long time to wind down but I never had any bad conscience about it .

  It is easier to talk about things now. I suppose because we are really speaking from the heart and not keeping to someone elses writings.

  Nice thought about a discussion group meeting. I would come, but the Atlantic is in the way .

  first of all, sorry for my bad english i'm from peru south america.

  there's a lot to tell but i'm going in this time to be brief, because i'm very busy.. i had been an elder for almost 8 years and a jh for more than 22 years.. i'm a searcher of the truth from the 10 years old.

  i grow as a catholic and got baptized as a jh at the age of 21.. in october of 2001 a jw friend ask me about the un&wt and bulgarian affair.

  May I add my words of welcome to this place where you will find genuine support, sometimes disagreement, but always the right to speak your mind.

  It is strange how differently issues are handled in different places. I too have been seriously affected by the U N issue . I have written twice to the Society & got only standard replies. I have made no secret of this and have fully discussed it with local elders - even by e mail which was,I suppose asking for it. But I got no reaction at all. They met with me ,eventually, talked around the issues, offered patronizing suggestions as how to "Strengthen my faith" and left it at that ....And here you are being told to go and dissasociate yourself ! . That is a contradiction in terms. If they did that to me I would refuse unless they formally dissfellowshipped me.

  This is a new beginning , Welcome !

  a contradiction not often discussed relates to the biblical teaching to abandon family in order to serve god.

  matthew claims that jesus told his disciples to "honor your father and mother.

  On balance, then, a stronger case can be made for the claim that Jesus' teaching worked against family togetherness than it did for it.

  Despite three pages of refutation, Joseph Allward still posts nonsense like that. He is obviously not interested in a reasonable answer.

  Sorry tdogg but perhaps the memory plays tricks .

  There is on page 42/43 of "From Paradise Lost to Paradise Regained" a picture of corpses of people being tossed in a turbulent sea of flood water , but the only dinosaur is a tiny sillhouette set in a panoramic picture on the inside front cover.Heaven knows why he is there.

  Thumbing through that book brougt back memories. Amazing how much I had remembered, and why did they steal the title from Milton?
