The places and times are real. You may see Bethlehem on TV today.

Eyewitness? - yes. We place reliance on pieces of clay with inscriptions by anonymous writers, surely the gospel writers deserve the same respect.

The ethics are sound . Jesus taught love, respect, tolerance and the insight to see a principle rather than follow rules.

What is disputed is the application of the Holy Spirit and the performing of miracles, but that was not the title of the piece.

Jesus is historic, and very different from other religion's founders.As such he deserves our study and investigation.

IMHO, of course.

Oh Boy! You have to be seriously wacko not to see a piece of creative Hebrew poetry for what it is , and try to make it out to be literal truth.

Does the creator of the human brain not see the need for a more efficient way of recording data? Or can He afford redundancy in Paradise?

its thanks to jesikas story that i was able to crack through my jw defenses and see the truth about the truth.

i read about her abuse on the silentlambs website, which then led me to other sites, then eventually here.

Why Celebrating Holidays is Good

i've posted this information in previous years, but given the holiday season,.

it's worth repeating.. celebrating the holidays can be a very good thing.

well, not celebrating holidays tends to break up families in subtle ways.

tends to promote and preserve emotional ties. ...... between people - who would otherwise forget
and just go about their business.

Just reminde me of the old chestnut "We can give gifts at any time, who needs a special day to do it ?"

In reality - we didn't . or not very often . The fact is that we just forget. A Holiday custom is the jolt needed to make a thoughtful card or gift - human nature , I guess.

Still , my relatives would not thank me for a Christmas present !

Incidentally, anyone enlighten me as to why American Fox News keep wishing us "Happy Holiday" rather than the obvious greeting? .. Is it not PC?

It's 2 AM...and Im soooo sad

its just not supposed to be like this.

i just put my jw husband on a plane to san fran so he can spend the entire holiday week out there, get this, dog sitting his nonjw brothers shitzus while he goes to visit family for christmas.

i told him i was going to miss him...and he replied, well "i wont miss christmas".

I am so sorry for all of you that suffer from divided families at christmas. It must be terrible , We will get together with my wifes family, some in ,some out but none d/fd so we mix. - not Christmassy though. The C word is banned.

I really feel for you now that it has been so eloquently put down .

I also wonder how husband feels, thousands of miles from home with just a Shitzy dog to watch T V with . Christmas is a long day with no one around and no where to go. Perhaps next year he will see sense .

Mulans mother too. I bet she would love to mix with the grandchildren, although her faith does not permit it on that day. We know that Mulan is very good to her .

Just a few random thoughts, bestwishes to anyone that misses loved one at this time.

during his campaign for mayor, jack ellis promised that his office would always be open for the citizens of macon.

so, on dec. 17, a spiritual brother and i, both jehovah's witnesses, called on the mayor to present an important article in our magazine that contained a recent landmark decision by the u.s. supreme court that gives us and others a legal right to visit the homes of the people to express our views.

Its my guess that they just wanted to "witness" to the Mayor , who could not be reached without an appointment ; and to get their name in the paper and perhaps get on to the next Circuit Assembly as an experience.

They no doubt took the Jan 8th Awake "U S Supreme Court And Free Speech". The Stratton case gets all the first eleven pages . Their comments include the following ;

" The residents of Stratton had been visited for years by ministers of the Wellsville Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses who had had problems with a few local officials ever since 1979. In the early 1990's a local police officer chased a group of Witnesses out of town saying "I could not care less about your rights"

The matter came to a head in 1998 when the mayor of Stratton personaly confronted four witnesses. They were driving out of the village after having returned there to speak again with residents who had shown an interest in their discussions. According to one of the women who who was confronted, the mayor stated that if they were men he would have put them in jail...........

The ordnance ..........required anyone wishing to engage in door to door activity to obtain a permit at no extra cost ,from the mayor. Jehovahs Witnesses viewed this ordinance as an infringement of freedom of speech,free exercise of religion and freedom of press .Therefore they brought a lawsuit in federal court.........................................................................................................................

(After appeal ) The Supreme Court ruled " The judgement of the Court of Appeals is reversed ,and the case is remanded for further proceedings consistant with this opinion . It is so ordered."

Judge Bans Shunning

today i spoke with a former jw i've been in touch with for several years and discovered what i think could be a major bombshell for the wts.

as we all know, shunning is the most powerful weapon the wt cult has over its members and for decades the wts has been able to get away with practicing it at their whim.

the us and other courts have permitted them to to use it, even though it destroys families and has ruined countless lives.

Interesting, but lets not get carried away . A family situation is different from the normal practices , and the court recognized the right of J Ws to shun if they wish , as an org . I daresay that they would try to find a way round it, like disassociation , not technically disfellowshipped for blood and voting etc.but the same in practice

There would be hardly anyone fighting the evils of the WTS if they were to stop shunning. Blood would not longer be an issue. Patients could take blood to save their lives and even though the society taught it was wrong, if they couldn't shun members for taking blood, members could take blood it to save their lives.

The dubs that I know are so convinced that it is Gods will , they would not take it at any price. They have also been so indoctrinated with the issue of safety of blood that they consider it only one step better than a death sentence. Funny that they don't seem to have applied the same fears to blood fractions.........
