invite your student to the memorial, and explain from the bible why he should not partake of the emblems.. they might as well just put up a warning: do not feed the visitors sign 🤣 meanwhile, more and more baptized jws by the thousands continue to come out of the annointed closet year by year..

This "invite your student to the Memorial" thing is a bit weird in these times.

Basically you have to give them the log in codes for your Cong. Meeting

Ask them to sit in front of their laptop at home with a camera open on them shown to a group they don't know

Ask tbem to have a glass of red wine and a Jewish matzoh sitting before them but NO , do not drink it - just touch it when invited to.

Listen quietly to the talkon screen .......

Really? Are strangers going to do that? They are going to think this very strange indeed.

An exchange with a JW about the blood doctrine.

i recently had an online exchange with an active jw about the blood issue.

he originally wanted to talk about the potential dangers of transfusions but i pointed out that the risks of transfusions have nothing whatsoever to do with the reason that jws reject blood, and therefore i didn’t see any value in debating that topic.. not able to let it go, he then insisted that the blood mandate was a common theme throughout the bible, quoting acts 15:29.. it’s been a while since i looked into the subject, and i admit i’m now a little rusty when it comes to recalling where to find biblical quotes, but i remembered that there are passages in both the new and old testaments that, when read in the context of the time they were written, call into question the watchtower’s rendition of acts 15:29.. i offered to do some bible research and get back to the jw, suggesting that rather than letting our discussion become combative, we could have an informative and interesting exchange of ideas.

i reassured him that i was not looking to undermine his convictions, in fact i was more than happy to be corrected if my thinking was wrong.

I cannot fault your reasoning on the Scriptures. I did not appreciate that 13 years passed by when gentile Christians were free to eat unbled meat if they wished..

Others have reasoned that this was a restriction on diet only, and should not apply to the medical use of blood.

I like your way of reasoning. Sadly I doubt if a blinkered JW would follow it...... unless it came from the Governing Body of course, then they would drop the blood doctrine like a shot

Perhaps the clue to its intended use lies in the question of another contact person, preferably out of State. Given the terrible weather events that the USA has experienced, it may be so they can find you if you flee a distance from a disaster ?

It ought to be headed with the WT or Congregation name and contain a policy that no data will be shared etc.

I would have thought you would contact them if you wanted to remain in touch......

there are english speaking denominations that actively use the emphatic diaglott.

the wtb&ts is the only publisher providing new printings of this nt interlinear.

the r&f jehovah's witness doesn't use the diaglott (not even the jw version of it "kingdom interlinear translation" that supplanted it).

I can remember it being used in my childhood years, by adult JW publishers when debating the trinity with people. In John 1 ;1 it said that the Word was “a god” ( not The God) ....

I still have a copy, unused for years, perhaps I ought to offer it on EBay ?

JW Net and Politics

this site was and remains instrumental in assisting people that want to leave the jw's.. there has been political discussion here for some time now, a good couple of years and it makes me feel a little uneasy.

i just opened up the site for the first time in some weeks, of the 10 posts being discussed, 4 were by the same poster, about politics, promoting their right wing beliefs.. this has been the trend for some time now, the same name behind a peppering of posts stirring the right v left of politics.. i remain forever grateful to the site and it's founders simon & angharad, i appreciate that simon shares some of these these political beliefs.

it would be a shame to see the site evolve from a place for jw freedom of thought and escape, to political squabbling, that the world is frankly tired of right now.. just to clarify, politics is my hobby, whilst my friends read the football scores, i'm reading polling data.

Any discussion of politics on the net will only descend into biased name calling insults. That is the difference between political discussions and other general topics. That’s why many say never discuss politics.

As a Brit, I have zero interest in American party political debates. I just look on from afar and smile sometimes.

I agree with the original post that suggested a sub forum for that which would not show on the main board . I believe it would help the site maintain its core values.

Just my thoughts..

i like subjects that delve into the history of the religion and proofs that the witnesses are not the true religion.

i’m not so much into apologists saying we need to go to meetings, especially if the poster looks like a scammer trying to get ex jws going.

I am well out , mentally at least and my wife is definitely still in. When I resigned and dropped the faith I recognized what a blow that was for her. I tried to make it up by being a decent husband and never fulfilling the stereotype of "worldly men"

This is not to criticise or blow my own trumpet but you say " I have told her many times that if she is not happy she should leave and go find her JW elder so she could be happy"........Is that ghe best way to win her round ?

True, I have made comprises. On a Sunday I am willing to accompany her to the hall , if she goes. I have helped her with going to conventions . I know that if I had nothing to do with it then we would have nothing and life would be hell for us both.

It is worth sitting through a crap talk to have the benefit of a calm and enjoyable home life. Funnily enough things are better between us now than ever they were when I was an elder and always having to do something.

Everyone is different I know, but that is my experience. All the best.

I agree that it is no good trying to come up with fanciful ideas trying to harmonise the order of creation with what we know today. The comments made in the past by the WTS are indeed desperate.

I am not a literal Genesis creationist but I still hold to the basic view that “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth “ . Call me what you like but ,to me, that makes more sense than a godless abiogenesis.......

I view Genesis chapter one as a simplified parable, not a scientific document.

I found nothing more recent in Watchtower on line. The 1988 QFR is confusing. It says they are in Sheol and that those in Sheol get a resurrection. So how come they don’t?

I mean Lot lived in the city prior to being dragged out ,and his extended family , it could not be a blanket judgement on all.

Recently Steven Lett said that homosexuals would return in the res. With the same desires , so how does that work?

That WT above says that us who reject the J W message get the same fate, just for failing to be convinced by the WTS... are we as bad as perverted rapists?

All goes to show that the WTS knows nothing
