One skeleton does not prove that it was on their menu.
it could easily be , a non Jew living there, a naughty Jew who fancied a bacon sandwich.
Any other ideas?
from haaretz newspaper:.
what does a pig skeleton discovered in jerusalem say about first temple era jews?.
the argument here is that sanctions on eating pork were only introduced in the 2nd temple era.. so what does that tell you bout biblical accuracy.. .

i was raised believing i was very fortunate knowing i had the truth.
i was groomed to be an elder.
i figured if mother said something, even if i couldn’t totally understand it, it was correct because mother knows best.
Of course I believed , I would never have done it otherwise. I’d bet you did too.
i'm surprised i only noticed this just now, deuteronomy 23:1:.
"no man who has been castrated by having his testicles crushed or who has had his male organ cut off may come...".
🤣.
Come come children, this is junior school humour.
About castrations, what’s new? They do it to animals all the time. I was hearing yesterday about male opera singers back 2 or 3 centuries who had it done to preserve their high voice.
Nothing untoward in Deuteronomy
the last talk o the saturday convention of jw was already often the centre of discussion, with all the name calling, logical fallacies and fear mongering.
however, it was interesting, not just what and how splane adressed the matter, also what he actually had to admit.
1) he had to admit, that the org is actually loosing court battles, left and right.
Good points inbetween. Reading between the lines , the reason he had to deliver this talk Is that a lot of the faithful are concerned about adverse news reports and their settling of claims. They are worried. We’ve got ‘em on the run !
i know there's a name for this technique but i need a name, nonetheless.. if i say to my audience: apostates are horrible, satanic, dirty, sinners, mentally diseased etc ... all hateful traits.
and then i say: person a is an apostate.
then my audience will associate all the traits previously associated with "apostate" with person a. but i can say: i never said person a was horrible, satanic, dirty, mentally diseased etc.
The ad hominem attack is “ sneaky “ in that it diminishes the person without having to deal with his arguments.
It is also pretty silly if you think about it.
E.g. Say you are visiting a facility for the criminally insane. Suddenly an inmate comes running down the hallway shouting “Fire! Fire! . Do you reject his warning and say “He’s just nuts ......”
No , of course not , you get the hell out of there .
Noticeably, the WTS denigrates ex members, so called apostates, but never answers our legitimate concerns. I guess they can’t.
hi all.. i'm 42 years old.
i have had two jabs of the oxford-astrazeneca vaccine.. after my first jab i experienced flu-like symptoms - shivering, wanted to lie down in a dark room, etc.. i experienced no side effects after my second shot.. how about you?.
how many jabs have you had?.
Yes, two shots of Pfizer. No I’ll effect at all
for any who can't (like me) muster the masochism necessary to sit through an 18-or-so hour commentary on a 30 minute talk from a certain famous/infamous commentator, here is a link to a transcript from splane's saturday afternoon "apostate" talk:.
https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/ot7z2e/splanes_apostate_rant_transcription/.
there are many topics worthy of consideration, but this particular section really stood out to me:.
I sat through this three times ( glutton for punishment) final time yesterday in the company of dub family watching the Convention. They were surprisingly quiet after it ......
He spoke of corrupt courts , news media being biased against them .....as reasons not to believe what you read about The Society. Very cleverly, he denied nothing but to the sheep who follow blindly- he denied everything. To use his expression “ sneaky”
The good thing is the fact that they had to give this talk at all. They must be worried over there in War-wick !
I like to think that we have got them on the run !
the watchtower—study edition | september 2021. study article 39. when a loved one leaves jehovah.
2 think how heartbroken jehovah must have been when members of his own angelic family turned their back on him!
(jude 6) and imagine how hurt he was at seeing his beloved people, the israelites, rebel against him time and again.
They always spin this as "rejecting Jehovah". Truth is many of us learned enough to reject the WTS . That is a big difference.
i know this recent video has been talked about already but i just watched it and here are a few things that got me annoyed as usual:.
splane says that if a bible student says he saw some negative information from apostates and asks us to explain it, we shouldn't look at it or address anything specifically, but instead we should tell them to go to meetings and hear what we have to say about ourselves and also tell them to befriend people at the hall.
for any person with integrity and/or intelligence, this is not a satisfactory answer.
After this talk.... No matter -how poor the Sunday speaker is, how childish the WT article is written, how many times they are asked for money, how long they have been waiting for the New World....
They had better keep smiling and say everything is wonderful, or they are branded as " negative " " going out of the truth" " a bad associate"
Keep up the painted smile !
here are links to some trailers.. the adventists documentary film - bing video - the sda live about 10 years longer than people in general of the usa, due to their emphasis on healthy living.
that is something i appreciate about them.. there are some similarities between the sda and wt/jws.
see the following videos.. the great disappointment - bing video - the video mentions christ will come to his sanctuary; the wt teaches christ came to the temple in 1918 (or so).. october 22, 1844 - we know the date.
When reading some stuff recently I was struck by some similarities between Seventh Day Adventists and JWs.
I never met an Adventist in my ministry days, but if a witness does and got down to a conversation, I think he would be surprised.
It seems they took the Watchtower out of the Adventists but kept a lot of adventism in the Watchtower.
