what i mean by the title of this thread is what has happened to a relative of mine, one who is really upset about this factor:.
this relative is a distant cousin on my mother's side of the family.
she studied as a child and got baptized at 14 1/2 years old.
That is the way of us all. I am lucky to have a modest pension from employment that augments the state pension but I know of many Witnesses that just get by on the basic. They gave their all in service, many were self employed and never bothered with a pension plan. They totally believed the false promise that “ you will never grow old in this system “
The ones I know still have their faith. They just keep going. I don’t know how....
will they start appointing "teen-agers"?

last spring norweigian state refused to give public contribution to jws (religious organisations can apply that in norway and previously wtbs has been granted that).
the decision was caused because of practise of disfellowshpiping.. now there is a new twist.. 25.10.2022 authorites in norway send a letter to wtbs and told them that they have four weeks to fix that practise.
if they don't do that they will loose their status as a religiouse organisation.. intrestingly jws did not "understand" what authorites meant by that and requested more time.. how can they not understand?
Anthony Morris addresses this issue in his Governing Body Update No.8. He described the matter just as we have seen it reported and called it an attack on religious freedom. He affirmed that the authorities would want them to change their policies but that they will never do so. He asked the viewers to pray for a satisfactory outcome.

pimo , as i said i`m going out on a limb here and i might upset some people ,but i really don`t think this is a real strategy that works and doesn`t help the person who is still in.. while you may be doing this to keep the peace in the household and keep relations somewhat stable in the family arrangement ,it`s not helping the person who is still under the control of wt/gb to break free from it ,and isn`t that what you would really like to happen ?.
and are their children involved as well ?
that`s another issue ,the longer they are subject to this control the harder it will be for them to disengage get free.. maybe you should re-evaluate what you could do more to help your partner / spouse or whatever to free themselves from this bondage they have involved themselves in.. [ of course their may be others who are quite happy to have their partners/mates under the control of the wt/gb.
For a while , I was PIMO , while I was organising an exit that would not cost me my wife and home. That was 20 years ago and my home life is better than ever was when I was in.
During that time it was terrible. I felt a hypocrite and everyone despises a hypocrite. I could not have kept it up for long . I tried hard to help her see the “truth about the truth “ but it was no good . Eventually we agreed to differ and settled down .
We looked at this last Sunday. The concept of a book is only a metaphor for God’s memory, since he clearly does not need to write things down . That scriptural illustration is fine as far as it goes but problems arise once they start adding things and making it fit their theology.
The article says that the anointed are in the book…. Ok . Then it says that the great crowd of other sheep are also in , but the goats are not… Now correct me if I missed something but last I heard , the separation of sheep and goats is a future event . No decision has yet been made . So how can he have the names already ?
Of the resurrected, the “righteous “ are in . That’s o k but no one knows who they are. The “unrighteous” are not in , so how can they be resurrected if they are not in God’s memory?
If I took it seriously,, I would be confused……..

They definitely do identify B the G as “ false religion “ still. However they do no carry on about it so much these days .They have a new image of cosy warmth and holding out a carrot of material pleasure in a New World . So there is no more calling down fire and brimstone on the Catholic Church …. No more “clergy bashing “ , My old school dub relatives miss that…..

I don’t see any signs of it at the moment. The covid closedown would have been the perfect opportunity to do it, keeping a lot of meetings on zoom. But, no, they have re opened the Halls, are planning real conventions and Circuit Assemblies next year as well as in-person elders schools . They know the value of being together as a group .
Maybe one day if it is forced on them but not for a long time yet.
i'll assume we have all felt a jolt of loss when a favorite tv, movie or book character dies.
when i watched the death of the incredible hulk tv movie after years of reading the comics and watch the tv show i was impacted.
funny even today it just feels wrong.
I am not really so involved with films and tv to feel personal sadness when a character dies . The only one that was really poignant and sad was the last episode of Blackadder, on U.K. tv. That was set in WW1 and it ended when the characters, despite their comedic efforts to escape it,were sent “ over the top “ to a certain death in battle.
That was deliberately made to be moving and showing the folly of war.......
