Creationism is not "the other view". It's like flat-earthism. The first time you heard somebody say that if the earth was round, people would fall off the bottom, you might be polite and explain gently and carefully about how gravity works. The hundredth time you heard the same tired argument - even if it was from a new source - you might be a little less helpful.
Flat-earthism? I think you just proved my point Funkydereck. If that wasn't a personal jab at those you don't agree with, what is? And that IS the problem.

The evidence AGAINST evolution
by AlmostAtheist inno, sorry, i won't be providing any.
this is a thread for those that have done some research and concluded that evolution is not how various species came to exist.. have you done the research?
do you believe that species exist as a result of god's direct creation?

Careful, Honesty, the baptismal questions prior to 1985 did follow the proper formula so that there are some who were baptised in the proper names:
*** w73 5/1 p. 280 Baptizing Follows Discipling ***
25 After considering what has been published on the preceding pages, if you are one who has been learning and you wish to observe the commandments of Jesus Christ, what should you do? Peter reminds you that the way is open to you; Jehovah wants you to come into harmony with him: ?Jehovah . . . is patient with you because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.? (2 Pet. 3:9; see also 2 Corinthians 5:18?6:2; Revelation 22:17.) After the Ethiopian had learned from Philip, he asked: ?What prevents me from getting baptized?? (Acts 8:36) If you feel the same about serving Jehovah God and taking Christ?s yoke upon you, we suggest that you consider the following two questions, which are asked of candidates for baptism:
(1) Have you repented of your sins and turned around, recognizing yourself before Jehovah God as a condemned sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him, the Father, through his Son Jesus Christ?
(2) On the basis of this faith in God and in his provision for salvation, have you dedicated yourself unreservedly to God to do his will henceforth as he reveals it to you through Jesus Christ and through the Bible under the enlightening power of the holy spirit?
However, there are other areas that can be addressed. For instance, The watchtower policy of Df'ng for smoking. There is no command in the New Testament to expell people for that. The whole thing is based on a very weak agrument for keeping our bodies "undefiled" and the coincidence that the Greek word for "sorcery" shares the same root as our word "pharmacy." Is that not a LAW THAT GOES BEYOND Christ's commands? And there are other things which could be brought up. -

What was the most INTENSE thing a householder did to you while in Service
by GetBusyLiving inwhen i was about 10 years old me and my service partner called on a guy that came to the door with a shotgun.
he just said in the most deadpan voice you can ever imagine: ""if you don't get off my doorstep within the next 30 seconds im going to have to use this.
" that was some scary shit.. we bolted.

Twice I stared down the barrel of a gun; and on another occaision had one threaten to pull one out. On one of the occasions first mentioned, as my partner and I calmly walked off (I always did that, I never showed panic), the man fired the shotgun into the air when we were abou5t half-way down the path from his door. I still didn't run. I don't know, I was just damned determine not to give the man the satisfaction of seeing me panicked (though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared as hell. ;-) ).

I think that a number of the commentaries here illustrate why creationists are so loathe to try to engage the other side. Already, commentators have questioned our intelligence, our knowledge, etc... It is the old game of attacking the person rather than the message. although I don't claim to be an expert on biology, one thing I can say is that, in my experience, when one needs to take personal digs at those who hold the other view, then one backhandedly acknowledges that their own position is not as strong as one claims.
As long as the materialists insists on that kind of tactic, then honest exchange of views and debate is not possible. What I will remind you is that, in spite of the pressure to follow the elvolution dogma, there are a number of scientists who have come to the conclusion that creation best fits the evidence. I am speaking of people who are well trained in biology and are in a better position to make that conclusion than the average Joe. It has cost them dearly because the evolutionists cannot tolerate the dissent.
I know of one such scientist who went through the experience of his colleagues trying to strip him of his credntials. Another recently made the news because he left the evolutionist camp. His explanation, as I recall, was pretty much the same as Funky said in his rebuttal of me. He said that he had to go where the weight of the evidence led him. -

If The Watchtower were to go bankrupt from lawsuits,Do you think GB and...?

do you think the governing body and friends would try to hide large sums of money?

As I recall, they did move most of the French branch's assets and monies out of France before the Gov't could sieze it to cover the taxes they tried to levy. So I don't doubt they'd do something like that here if they had to.

I think that our genetic make up is a pretty good evidence against evolution.
Throughout the whole body of living things, we find that they are all divided into family groupings (canine etc...) within which they can interbreed. Yet, they can only go so far. For instance, within the family which contains horses, all sorts of intebreeding within the family occur. However, there are limits. When a horse is bred to a donkey, the result is a hybrid that is sterile. and there are others which can be cited.
Why is this? Because the family has a certain number of chromosome pairs set for it which allow a certain variation, or speciation, within the family but prevents things from going further or cross-family breeding. For humans, there are 24 such pairs. For chimpanzees, 25 pairs. Anytime the number of chromosomes are not correct for the family, a it usually produces a deficient organism rather than an improvement. Examples among humans would include trisonomy 21 (Down's syndrome), trisonomy 15, (a variation that usually spontaniously aborts ), etc....
I remember the sensation that occured in the 60's when a chimp was found who supposedly had 49 chromosomes, indicating a possible cross-species breed. He had certain features that were human-like (the ability to walk upright in the human fashion as opposed to the chimp style etc...). however, the chimp, now aged, was tested in recent years and shown to have the correct number of chromosomes for a chimp. indicating that no interspecies breeding had occured.
This encourages both flexibility to adapt to conditions and stability so that the kinds of monsters mentioned in ancient myths, such as the minotaurs (part bull part human) just never happen. To me this indicates that intelligence was involved in the speciation of our planet and not just blind chance.
As mentioned oft by creationists, true transitional species just do not occur in the fossil record. I know that the archaeopteryx is often trumpeted as such a type, however, recent fossil findings bring that into question. There can only be two explanations fo that lack. Either they just weren't preserved in the record by the vagarities of chance (not likely), or they were never there in the first place. The acceptance of either explanation requires a certain amount of faith since none of us were there to see it happpen for ourselves.
So now, can some of my fellow creationists step up to the plate as well? -

Frank Sinatra is oft quote as saying that massive success is the best revenge. So I'd agree that being happy with one's life is what really counts. That is the best thing that can be flung back in people's faces. And especially so when it is a bunch of former associates, be they JWs or anyone else, who wish one nothing but misery like the dubs often do for the ones they shun.
