It was great to hear sister Serena thank her god Jehovah for helping her win the tennis open in Australia again!! What a great god he is. There are thousands dying from cancer and poverty, he has no time for them, but he helps her win the tennis!!! Go figure.

As of Thursday night I am no longer a Jehovahs Witness
by Es inyep my fade has come to a stop, got the phone call off my dad today he asked me if i celebrate christmas and birthdays and i said yes, and so he said they are going to go ahead with the disassociation letter i sent over two years ago!!!!..
he said that after today the only phone calls i will get are if there is an emergency, but nothing social my response to that was well you havnt seen or spoken to me for over a year im used to it.. he also said there was no bad feelings and that i should never doubt there love for me, and that the stupid thing of it is they can associate with mike and the kids just not me.. im really happy and calm about it, ive had my initial cry over it, and now i feel good that i dont have to lie and hide things anymore.. its such a relief.. luv ya all.

Why after 12 months did your father ring and ask specifically are you celebrating birthdays and christmas? You hadn't heard from him and then he rings. He also loves you....but....
I realize we all understand where he is coming from, having been that ignorant. Dubz show their love in a funny way dont they?
My in-laws have been frantic in their keeping in touch, but over the last month, we initiate any contact. They are happy enough to see us, spend time with us, but are definitely cutting back on us. My father in-law is a PO in his congo, and his oldest son is an elder there too, so maybe they are subtly putting some heat on him.
Only hope that they see the promises of the wtbts are not worth the paper they are written on before it's too late...[they die!!]

Assistance needed on issue of birthdays
by Peacekeeper ini am currently reviewing various doctrines of the wt.. would it be possible for this thread to focus completely on the issue of birthdays and avoid other subjects & also any digs at the wt over their current policy.. personally, i believe that birthdays are acceptable but i need concrete reasons / facts to counteract the arguments provided by the wt for their refusal to celebrate birthdays.. thanks .

In the elders book that is available in pdf from reexamine around page 92 it list heaps of things that you could be dfed for. Birthdays are not mentioned, but observing pagan celebrations is.
As I have mentioned to family members, if God says birthdays are so bad, why are the not mentioned along with drunkardness, fornication etc in 1 Cor? -

by thasmyquixtar5000 inthis one was too funny... sent to me by my brother an audio tape of a talk stating that the preaching work is now over and that witnesses are in every country in the world, except north korea, somila, and afganistan (excuse my miss spellings) but really this was just too funny so funny i could not even listen to the whole thing with out screaming in laughter.
the brother goes on to say that they will not be preaching in those countries becaues jehovah god will never put his people in danger and allow them to be killed... hello... what about all those that died over no blood, and what about all those in africa rewanda that the brother told to refuse to except an id card sumilar to our ss card telling those poor brothers that it was a form of worship?
i could not believe it but thought it was just tipical of the times, too many of the witnesses are leaving, and the love of the greater number has cooled the hell off... they are grabbing at straws right about now.

we all need to be reminded of what the FDS said in the KM, that we should try our best not to send out UNVERIFIED "news" or experiences. i know we all get so excited. and it is true that, as the clip brought out, we should all be trying to do our best before we can no longer try.
so all you dear ones, please go do this now. that will be a good thing. see letter below, esp the last sentence!

I often wondered about how many who grew up in it actually remained virgins until they wed.
When I was an elder, mainly females would be more likely to fess up, does that mean the young males didn't? Or do they keep it a secret? Although of the young females who did fess up, it was generally with some non jw guy, so maybe that is why not too many males came forward and repented.
How sad that we still refer to it as "fornication". Yes that is what it is, but how borgized is the expression.
Sadly I passed up plenty of opportunites, preferring to keep myself "chaste".....what a tool! -

by bobld inthe wbts has published many of these, where money is found and returned to the owner .with a reason,because i am a jw.in this issue,there is a big picture of nelma:a woman from chuzeiro do sul,brazil.she apparently found $1000.00 in the pockets of some trousers that were donated because of a flood.nelma returned the money to the businesswoman who had donated the clothing.this lady was overjoyed to receive the money,because she had set aside her payroll for her employees in a trouser pocket.. should they(gb/fds) be idolizing these honest people?.
note:no man should be idolized.christians should guard against idolatry.it means giving such a one a measure of worshipful devotion.but god explicitly stated that he does not tolerate such a thing.however,they (gb/fds) lack proper perspective,of knowledge and understanding of honest people helping people.it is as if by exalting a fellow human creature they are lifting themselves up also.. now here is an example from the world.. this is from a wordly newspaper.yes i know the wts says these are half truths.i will not quote the whole article.
"i am contacting your newspaper in the hope that i may be able to puplicly thank the good samaritans who helped me when my truck broke down on the highway just......on date.in my distress,i regrettably failed to get the name of this kind young man from...who went home to get a vehicle that could tow my vehicle back to the city.and than to top it off,drove me to get a room for the night.my thanks are also extended to the hotel owner to drove me to my truck.he gives more praise.......thank you for the opportunity to express my gratitude to all who assisted me to return home safely".
