A while ago someone got a copy of the WT 2005 company tax statement in Australia. $16 million donated and it listed $1500 as being disposed of in "charitable" works! We all know how much money they give in this way.
Even some little old lady down to her last penny is first sent back to beg from her family before she is helped out, and then it will usually be by an individual and not the cong! No one gets their hands on that cash!

Youths and Young Adults Missing in my Congregation
by ruruj inthere were a handful of youths in my congregation.
all were vibrant and zealous members.
some conducted bible studies, some were dedicated and quite enthusiastic in the "truth".. .

In your teens you question and challenge the "boundries". They chose not to live that way. Cheers to them I say. I wish that I had challenged and questioned way more in my youth then got the f#@* out of there instead of wasting my "youth" on them!

"Rutherford, a prominent member of the Governing Body" (David Splane, 2010 DC)
by pirata inin david splane's talk, "remain in the secret place of the most high", at the 2010 district convention he referred to "rutherford, a prominent member of the governing body".. while technically correct (the governing body is a technical term for a board of directors), the term "governing body" currently has a spiritual meaning, seperate from "board of directors", in the eyes of jws: the representatives of the faithful and discreet slave who make the decisions on spiritual matters.
my understanding is that the "board of directors" handle other business/legal operations (since the 80s re-org).. please correct my if i am wrong, but retroactively applying the modern-day understanding of the term "governing body" to the board of directors in the rutherford/knorr era suggests that the board of directors had equal input on spiritual matters.
my understanding though is that the president/vice-president made the majority of decisions on spiritual matters during that time.. does anyone know of any quotes or references from watchtower material that states who actually made the spiritual decisions during the rutherford/knorr era?.

Triple it!
WE should be careful when talking about any members of "the Board" of directors for any period of time and not refer to them as a "body". Thereby using wt language which serves to confuse the issue.
Remember that the "governing body" is not mentioned in the bible, only in wt stuff.

A gem of hypocrasy from 1887 Watchtower
by Aussie Oz incame accross this piece from the 1887 watchtower tonight.... have a read... you can see russell criticising the protestants for how they are not allowed to teach anything that is not sanctioned by the church.. sounds mighty familier...and can be mirrored right back at the wt.. watchtower 1887. .
page 923 april 1887 (caps and italics russells and the wt).
nor should we ignore the assistance of any of god's children in seeking an understanding of the scriptures, but we should give attention to them only so far and so long, as they teach and explain the bible, in harmony with the bible.

I say congratulations to us all, whether is has been a long time or only a short one. Really the long time starts with a short one!!
Personally, it has now been 5 years..... 5 YEARS!!!!! Awesome!! AWESOME!!!...
The book study conductor was saying that victims of pedophiles that had been on TV here in Australia in 2005 were all liars and apostates! I disagreed said so, stood up and walked out! That was it.
My family and I do NOT go to memorials, we don't want anyone to get their hopes up that we might come back. If we have to go to a funeral, and that is getting closer, parents getting old and armageddon hasn't come so they WILL die in this old system!!!!!!! we are prepared to go for that and that only.
But it is fantastic to not be doing any of that bs any more.

Has anyone counted Parttakers as published in the yearbook?
by STILLINWANTOUT ini was just wondering if anyone has ever counted the yearly parttakers.
2005-8524.. based on these numbers 36373 has been anointed in four years alone.
am i mistaken to understand that the 144000 is to go to heaven and are apart of the anointed class and therefore these part takers are also going to heaven.

You couls try to understand it, but it is impossible, because it is rot any way. Borg reasoning is flawed at best. The number was filled way before this century or the last if...IF... it were in fact literal.

Awesome article. I don't often get in here to post these days.... 5 years free!!! But you have summarized it nicely. This is a keeper.
How cool to cut and paste it and send it to all our JW buddies and challenge them to read it!
Most would delete it straight away or stare blankly up into the corner of the ceiling and then delete it!

Most Ridiculous Thing You've Ever Been Counseled On
by MrFreeze ini'm sure topics like this have already come up but they tend to get hilarious with the absolute absurdity that goes on in the kh.
i was once counseled for not shaving after two days.
i was also counseled by a sister for eating lucky charms cereal.

Not to spin the wheels of my car in the k-hall carpark... "it doesn't consolidate the gravel surface"...
What about some of the bs that I had to counsel people on?... Not to quote worldly sources when giving a talk... Not to play Laser-force... Not to drink sherry before the meetings! [that guy ended up the p/o!!] if i try hard I could think up many more...
Pathetic really
