Recognizing the stunted growth emotionally/mentally/socially/financially etc., from being in the organization, it becomes obvious from a psychological perspective that we might be able to apply the term 'ultimate suicide cult' to the society. As has been said - if we were all to go and poll the 'friends' as to how far they would follow orders given by the WT, and if the poll resulted in say 50% of those members saying they would follow the orders and in fact an actual 30% did follow them - then what a great tragedy for physical death offers no further opportunity to escape the clutches of the cult and accept/realize and enjoy the beauty of the world and life around them. Dead is dead physically - and thus is hope destroyed for that person. sw

Are JWs the Ultimate Modern Suicide Cult?
by Gill injws lives are regularly put on the line by their religious beliefs or by the rules made by the wtbts.. if they become sick or injured they cannot accept for themselves or their loved one a blood transfusion that may save their lives.. if they live in an intolerant society, they may not purchase simple papers that could prevent them being tortured or murdered.. they go regularly to the homes of strangers and speak to total strangers and risk life and limb.
some have died because of this very practice.. so, are jws the ultimate modern suicide cult?.
i can't think of any religion, other than the suicide bombers of islam, that believe strongly in martyrdom, as the jws do.. how many jws could be dying every day because of the wtbts instructions?.

BLOOD ISSUE=PROBLEM=CAN HOSPITAL BE SUED?
by jack w inhi friends, .
a good "fader" friend of mines wife was recently at the hospital.
she used to be a staunch witness but has since gotten fed up with the whole charade.

I guess my question would have been - what would have happened if she had in fact died from NOT getting a blood transfusion? If she signed the papers allowing blood and was intimidated into reversing that paperwork for fear of exposure from the witnesses and the subsequent repercussions from them - what if she had died? Would she have left behind a husband that, instead of being a fader, would then make the leap to disassociated himeself? It's such a sad commentary when a person is too afraid to allow a doctor to provide the best healthcare they can 'because they are afraid of being 'outed' to a religious organization. Not because they don't really believe a process might be necessary but because they are afraid of being found out and being shunned. How cheap a life has become. This is the type of stuff that any lawyer compiling data on the 'big news' needs to hear - the lengths of intimidation that witnesses are subjected to and the fear they live with. In the end - it boils down to a decision of wether or not the couple will continue to fade or fully opt out. If they opt out then they might be able to contact the hospital and have the nurse investigated and their operational procedures examined. She might lose her job and for certain all the elders and probably the cong will know - and that of course will have drawn al line in the stand. If they wish to continue to fade than I can't see that bringing this situation to light is possible because if the wife was willing to (possibly) die for the organization, than its doubtful she would have the strength to confront the issue.sw

They are PROMISED a resurrection by the WTBTS if they stay true to the WATCHTOWER LIES
I believe that beyond blood, this sect is absolutely more inclined to follow orders from the top - even if those orders directed them to die - quite simply because of their fear not surviving at Armageddon. This society makes no apology for forcing termination of relationships between family/society and friends and it's members - even if this termination is equal to death in all of those ways be it medical or shunning etc. Many people here would have followed without question, the societies stance on blood even if it meant the death of themselves or their family members and many still in the organization will ignore the factual data now present - simply because the GB has brainwashed them into believing that they themselves are God. Who dare speak against God? Who dare disobey him? For this reason, I truly believe, that should the GB give orders to all of it's members to meet at a 'special' assembly with the direct purpose of death by reason of imminent world destruction, many would obey. The fear of disobeying God, of dying at Armeggedon would overtake the fear of suicide and in their minds they would simply be surviving not dying. Imagine if only 10% or 25% actually went through with it - the numbers of dead would be astronomical.

the news just flashed on a pic of 80 around Fairfield - the traffic is down to 1 lane and it's a royal mess! Wonder what effect all this flooding will have on New Years plans? It's supposed to clear up around Tuesday so here's to sunny days...

WTBS--What's the motive?
by lynnmelo inmy sister and i have speculated for quite some time about the possible motives of the gb and all others in charge of the wtbs, i.e., their raison d'etre, so to speak.
after finding out about some of the history of the wtbs and the supposed f&ds, i realized that they weren't god's spokepeople on earth.
but, then, what's their motive for all the work they're doing in the organization?

So, are their $1 Billion dollar anual earnings are just a side-effect
The GB have the use of yachts and planes that belong to the watchtower don't they? Isn't that what I heard somewhere before? This being a perk of the GB, it would probably be difficult to find out how much they all spend on travel and vacation costs from the donated funds. Are there registered boats/planes? and has anyone ever been able to locate the logs, both financial and travel for these accessories? I'm not sure what their motive is any longer - I have to wonder if they aren't simply the front for the force behind. I wonder if someone could fill us in on what goes on in the day of one of the GB - meetings? etc......

My apology to all
by bigmouth ini made the most awful mistake when i posted a comment about spelling and punctuation on the "bible research etc.." forum.
i learned that i can't just post comments about things when people are unaware of my sense of humour and my general nature.
i have spent the day in tears.

greasy - but not awful. Anyway I went upstairs to cool off before I got angry and came back down and father in law says "Okay you can cook food in that now!" I was fuming and upset for the rest of the night. Anyway my BF finally asked in provate
Too funny crumpet - I would have asked him to pour me a cuppa and get to work on the fridge! My mom used to do this to me - she had a key to my house and I'd come home on a Friday to find everything spotless and tidy. At first I got my back up but then I figured what the heck - saved me time, made her happy and I was quite capable of turning away from what I believed was her attempt at focusing negatively on my housekeeping skills, once I decided the outcome was a bigger plus than the income..lol..The only problem I had though was in finding my mail - she used to stick it in cupboards so that it was out of the way so a few bills got missed along the way. Now she is bedridden so I actually treasure those memories...samswife.
