  Taped Call w/ JR Brown on Cano

  on the silent lambs site there is a taped call with a media person and jr. brown.

  he stated that jw's don't proclaim or feel that they have special chosen ones to lead nor do they feel as though they are the sole organization to get to god.

  My thought on this is that any current Witness who is lurking here or even an active Witness who is involved but not out, needs to write the Governing Body and ask them when the change took place. Reference JR Browns quotes directly and tell them his words have stumbled you ..you need answers. Theocratic warfare is lying plain and simple. Call a spade a spade cos that's what it is. The Elder in alamb's court case lied opening in a court of law - this also flies in the face of what Brown stated, that they work with governments and so on. A lie is a lie is a lie...and doesn't Jehovah know that? sammieswife

Like how your hair had to be, or how your clothes had to look, the music you couldn't listen to...overwhelm me. Those absurdities just reinforce for me how far beyond the bible the Watchtower really is and make me laugh. sammieswife.

  Early menopause

  i just found out today that i'm in menopause.

  i haven't had a menstrual cycle in over a year.

  here's my dilemma?

  In reading these posts I'm more curious than worried about menopause. Does everyone really need to take hormones? Like puberty, don't our bodies go through these stages with little interference? I guess I don't think about these things much and I'm fortunate they haven't affected me or I guess I'd be in the docs office alongside a lot of others. But geez.....the talk about your insides falling to the outside if you don't take something is kind of gross and scary...swife.

  many on here say they are being shunned by their family members.in some case this is probably true.

  but seriously..could it be that they have a life and they may not have time for you anyway?

  The only point I am trying to make is that some may come across as obnoxious when trying to speak to JW's..maybe that could be one reason they "shun".

  Huh? what did I miss? ...you mean there are actually JW's out there that speak to disfellowshipped ones????? Where? Can I have their address? I've never run into any JW that would speak to a disfellowshipped person. Shunning is abuse and it happens all the time. Now if JR Brown is correct in his figures that 50,000 or so are df'd each year...that's a whole heck of a lot of shunning. Funny, I feel like I'm being put on the defensive for an abusive act being committed by someone else...like I'm to blame. Kind of like the thinking you know - I got slapped upside the head by my husband because I didn't clean the house...I'm imagining it or it's my attitude - hmmmmm. swife

  Judicial Committees and the 'Two Witnesses' Rule

  i'm not and never have been, etc.. i was not even aware jcs existed until a couple of months ago - but now i understand a lot more from the postings i have read (and i find some them tragic).. two thoughts struck me as an outsider.. the first is to agree with the advice/suggestions given by many posters that submission to the jc process is a voluntary thing.

  in the real world any court or tribunal can only act or consider issues if it has 'competent jurisdiction', laid down by law.

  a jc only has 'competent jurisdiction' over a jw if the jw consents to that jurisdiction.

  Joe, I was a little confused by your heading but I think I have it now. I don't know if I agree with the voluntary position, simply because when one is in the cult they already brainwashed enough that they simply agree with everything and many just accept a JC and take their licks. They do this because they believe they are bad and should be punished and if they act repentent, they won't be df'd. Its sad when you have parents abdicating the lives of their kids to the Elders instead of handling family issues themselves. Most Elders can give you pages of confessions and a lot from kids who have done things wrong, gone to their parents who then have turned them into the Elders to deal with the problem. We had the boogey man growing up.....those kids had the threat of death and a meeting with the Elders. You should also be aware, that if one of your witnesses was a 'worldly' person they probably wouldn't allow it. All wordly people are immoral..you know, all we do is get drunk, take a lot of drugs, watch porn and screw around like animals. We don't love one another and will lie, cheat and steal whenever we get a chance. It's ridiculous. swife.

  Minimus..part of me is in agreement with you but the other part of me is hopeful that this might expose more and thereby force some major changes to be made in the Society. The best way to hurt them externally is to keep this in the news - bad PR is the best and it will move people away from contact with them instead of toward it. swife

  I think it's impossible for one raised as a JW to have any idea what might have been if they weren't. When we say - being raised in it helped me stay away from drugs etc., how do we know that being raised outside of it, would have made your morals, values or good experiences any different? swife
