Would YOU kill someone if you felt they really deserved to die?

could be anyone, osama bin laden, oj simpson, pat robertson, someone who personally hurt you or your family, anyone at all.

would you pull the trigger, throw the switch, etc, which would end someones life?

would it make a difference if no one would ever know, versus everyone knowing?

The piece of garbage that abducted the little girl in Florida last year. After abusing her he buried her alive.

I'm certain if I were in the presence of someone who was brutalizing another person, I would automatically step in and if that resulted in bodily injury - then that would be that. Just today I was reading in the paper, where a father and step mother murdered his 12 year old son. How and why? The child was too fat for the father's liking and the step mother was disgusted by him apparently, so they handcuffed him to a post and fed him nothing but 1 tsp of pedialyte a day - it took 4 months but he lost 35 pounds and died. Not just from starvation but from a videotaped beating that lasted 4 days - 100 bruises and 74 injuries. Just like the guy in Florida..these vermin don't deserve to spend their life in prison. They don't deserve to breathe. They don't deserve anything. I believe when there is no doubt of guilt as in these 2 cases - why allow them the privilege to exist? They should simply be terminated. Could I do it? If that was my child who was buried alive and I knew the guy did it without a doubt - I most probably could. Perhaps instead of bad karma, I would choose to look at it as good karma..taking the scum off the street and doing something positive for the rest of society. Oh yeah.....they showed a picture of the father who beat and starved his kid to death - he doodled, yawned and looked bored while they sentenced him to death. Tell me - what value is this man to society? Two 16 year olds, broke down the door of a 90 year old blind and deaf womans house and beat her to death with her cane...for 200 bucks - where does it end? Do the elderly deserve to die any less peacefully than the young? sammieswife.

jw's on welfare?

are there many jw's on welfare or some state assisted programs?

how do they reconcile this with being 'no part of this world' and their abhorrence of government?

This was one of the questions I asked about those I know who accept veterans pensions from being in the war. I took it a step further when I met a family who (being very zealous) were home schooling their kids, yet the parent worked in the same school system they removed them from. I asked them if that wasn't just a tad hypocritical..you don't want the kids tainted by worldly kids and their behavior or issues, you have no wish to be part of the world, you in all reality could care less or feel repulsed by your coworkers and the environment - yet you feel free to take that money in payment for a position in a public funded school. Of course I got the response 'we pay taxes too'...doesn't wash for me. swife.

They are sheltered beyond belief. They are either going to remain hardcore watchtower slaves their whole lives, or flip out and get tattoos and start using drugs. There's really no middle ground when you're that sheltered.

This is very true. I know JW's who have been that sheltered and because there are NO people in their lives that they socialize outside the organization, they have no reason to question. A good, obedient Witness doesn't associate with wordly people of any sort and that goes so far as to extend to family relationships be it aunt, uncle or grandparent. They might be polite but will not exchange intimacies as most families do in order to bond. When the child is home schooled - it intensifies. I know of JW's who have lived for many, many years with no contact with their neighbours except to say hello. I know of JW's who have worked with the same people (wordly) for 15 years, but who have never ever gone out to lunch or a movie or anywhere with any of them - they work, go home and surround themselves with more JW's. As they get older, they become more wary and fearful of the world and more guilt ridden over everything they do and in summary, they simply become more repressed. Sometimes, in JW's I've talked to, I almost feel like there are a whole lot of sociophaths walking around in suits. To display little kindness or compassion for others, regardless of who they are in the world - to feel little emotion for victims of situation or circumstance - all I can say is - you gotta wonder..sammieswife.

Of course. Without question. When you are raised in the truth there is no other world out there. You are isolated and taught to be obedient. You are allowed no independent thought or action. A psychologist will tell you that critical reasoning develops in children when they are about 8-12 and if a child is unable to develop that part of himself, they lose the ability to think independently. Critical reasoning in a normal kid simply means to look at something, question and resolve. A kid raised zealously in the truth does not have that ability because they become dependent on the organization to instruct them on all aspects of their lives. That is just one reason why someone raised in the truth often has a harder time if they leave - they do not have those skills. A Witness family, living their live in accordance with the demands of the Watchtower does believe because they are told.

i called the information dept politely asking if mr brown was still a witness after commiting verbal apostasy during the interview with ldh.. i got transferred to one of their legal staff and he dropped the "f" bomb and hung up!

i on the other hand was a complete gentleman.. i would call this a golden opportunity to play up what has to be one of the most embarrasing moments for the dub leadership but is actually an important issue that any current dubz should be concerned about.

what is the actual policy of the org?

I think that phrase is most profound. This negates the baptism since it can't hold up under the initial terms of the contract - you know, you are baptised understanding and being told that you are in allegiance ith the spirit directed...but now, they have broken the contract by switching the terms - you are not in allegiance with the spirit directed. It also takes the argument that the Watchtower is the direct channel from God, God's mouthpiece..yadayadayada...and dissolves it. Bottom line is that by issuing that statement Brown has said that the governing body is nothing more than a group of men. Lying is lying..forget the notion of theocratic warfare..if Brown was doing the double speak on this - well, it just means he is a liar. If his lying is sanctioned by the GB and all Witnesses, then hey, birds of a feather..and that alone should make any Witness question their own ethics. If the Bible says 'thou shalt not lie' but the Watchtower tells you 'thou shalt like when we instruct you to'....who you gonna follow? swife.

grief & jw's?

reading the other thread made me wonder, do jw's ever truly grieve at the loss of a loved one?

i can see in front of other jw's they feel the need to maintain the party line, but in private?

You can grieve a loss but to really grieve you have to really love. JW's have an invisble wall around them the does not allow them to love unconditionally therefore I wonder at the depth of the grieving. From my experience JW's don't grieve - if they are good Witnesses. They surround themselves with only other Witnesses in good standing therefore, when a person dies it is seen as one of two things - a) a temporary loss since they will be resurrected after Armeggedon and b) if they are of the annointed they are in heaven already. So what is there to grieve? No contact with disfellowshipped ones so they don't count - a good JW will have already grieved that loss and moved on without a thought to that person.

i know some who went back and promptly faded, some who went back and were "bt" jws (barely there), a few who went back and quickly got df'd again usually before they even got privileges back.. but the one that takes the cake (in my opinion) is the former po of my parent's congregation who had been giving dc parts for years getting disfellowshipped a couple of months after giving the rousing talk, "abhor what is wicked, cling to what is good.

" only after his reinstatement did i discover that was his third df.

It may be true that 50 percent of j-dubs 'return to their vomit' but I think most do so with the intention of fading away while regaining the 'freedom' to see their family and friends again.

I fully agree with that statement. I think the vast majority who go back, do so simply for the communication with family and/or friends and then after reinstatement they can sucessfully fade away. I believe that's why there are so many who do nothing or the bare minimum to scrape by, those are also the ones who are more apt to outright lie or become very creative with their time cards and such. It's much easier to do if you are away from your family because you can put on a show for them when they do come to visit. Just one more reason to scoff at the whole 'keeping the congregation clean' crap. swife.

for the second time in as many weeks i have left the lights on in the car and drained the battery.

the first time was technically my boyfriend's fault.

he drove to work and i dropped him off and went home, didn't realize the lights were on and well, there you go.
