Holy crap.. I think my mind forced that out of my subconcious from the last time I studied that book. I remember sitting through a bookstudy of that crap about 8 years ago or so and deciding to start fading from meetings..
I took notes for just about everything because I was constantly bored. After drifting away from the religion for 3 years I came back for a short time and it felt like I had not missed a meeting. It was all the same. Enduring 'till the end' was an expression that I tried to apply to getting through the meetings.
to those who have conscientiously walked away:.
what changes will at least make you consider coming back in?.
of course some will say nothing they do will lure them back?
They would have to become the Unitarian Universalists. Even then I'd probably only show up once in a while.
my name is jaron, 19 years old, i'm from the netherlands, and in about a month i am going to start joining the jw's meetings and i'm kind of looking forward to become a jw.
i can of course tell ya'll my entire spiritual story, but that would take an entire bookwork.
in a nuttshell: my father is an ex-jw, my half-sis (from an earlier marriage from my dads) is one of those "special pioneers", and i am jewish (my mom is jewish).
I could never be a part of an organization that is so bloodguilty. Look at how they flip-flopped on organ transplants for example. Lots of people died then they change their minds. How do you think their family's felt..What the hell.

You guys that have been out of the org for a long time must almost find it amusing to see reletive newbies like me get so pissed when reading all of this junk from the Watchtower. These guys CAN'T POSSIBLY get around this. They have dug their own graves, but they keep trying to bury the evidence.
by that, i mean, some witnesses will not just now "out" themselves because of various fears and concerns.
some of us are still "in the closet".
so to speak, because we're not ready to expose ourselves to the "loving brothers", just yet---at least not 100 %.
This is soo funny.. a friend who was helping me out of the tower noticed that I used a lot of terms that a gay person would use in describing my exit as well. 'Coming out of the closet' is one that I can remember.

I don't know how those guys can sleep at night knowing the B.S they spew out. That word 'channel' has to be the most loaded expression they have ever used. I can hardly believe people still buy into their crap.
one of the anomalies of the jehovah's witness worldview is that it "carries" its non-violence hand-in-hand with some fairly violent practices towards its young ones.
so, the jehovah's witness father or mother who would reject any involvement in the military or "turn the other cheek" if physically attacked in field service, has no qualms about yanking their noisy child out of the kingdom hall and giving that child a good thrashing (i.e., beating on the buttocks, legs, arms and back) and creating an even greater noise.
i am not a parent, but over the years of observing parents - and others - hitting children both inside and outside the kingdom hall, it slowly occurred to me just what a barbaric practice this was.
Remember having to sing that "he says use the rod" verse from the songbook as a child?? How much did THAT suck!
I'd like to see my grandmother again. I have no idea how that will ever happen. I guess all relgions believe in an afterlife.. hopefully I can make it in to one of them even though I have no faith because I see no evidence.
i'm wondering if our departure has cost the society and local congregations money.
I donated 20 bucks a month for a while. I wish I had sent it to the Red Cross.
