My Book of Bible Stories
by Taylor S. ini just got my hands on a copy of my book of bible stories ... (1978).
at first i was excited when a friend pulled it out of his bag, said he'd gotten it as a kid.
then i started flipping through, looking at the pictures, feeling the memories spin in my brain.

Mostly every one of the stories had a moral that basically was, 'if you do what we tell you to do God won't kill you. If you don't you are as good as dead'. Just setting kids up to fall in line as fellow cultist of the WTBTS. That book is just trash.

Apostates, Hatred for the Org, leaving JWD

that thread wasn?t about how bad the society was, it wasn?t about sex or drugs, it was what we thought could have been someone committing suicide, saying they had enough?life sucks and then....
then today i read a second posting of someone who has done an exhaustive study on the postings found within jwd (actually only the tame ones that are from people leaning more pro org than against) and determined what a hate filled sack of pus this place is.

Man when I was part of the Borg this type of shit would drive me up the wall. Go out drinking with a bunch of guys at the hall and get smashed out of our brains one weekend, then hear a comment from them the next.. sometimes even ABOUT drunkeness!! I was NEVER that type of person - I could never be a hypocrite like that. Now I'm the one being shunned as a follower of Satan and they are still in it, rationalizing their lives away. I'm so happy to be out of there..

That book gave me serious nightmares dude. The story about the writing on the wall seriously freaked me out bad. Everybody was getting killed ALL THE TIME. Also hearing stuff from Revelations about birds eating the fleshy parts of dead people.. holy crap I had a real messed up view of life when I was a kid! Those images are tough to erase from a mind. I can remember back to that stuff from when I was like 5 years old. Now its all I can do not to resent my parents for all the baggage I carry around.. I know its not their fault.

Do you ever DEFEND Witnesses?
by GetBusyLiving ini know i come on here a lot and laugh at the crazy stuff i used to believe.. it's a terrific place to vent my frustration at the org.
and share experiences with people who understand.
but i find that when some people trash talk witnesses who were never part of it i end up sort of defending them usually.

lol, good point.. just every now and then you will hear someone say how annoying it is when they call Saturday mornings and shit like that. Or the occasional comment that witness parents don't love their children because they refuse blood.. -

Are JW apologists really that bad?
by seattleniceguy inin recent weeks, we've had a few jw apologists or sympathizers that have created a bit of a stir around these parts.
some of their posts have been inconsiderate of the feelings of others, causing no small amount of understandable outrage on several threads.
on other threads, some of them have frequently failed to even read the posts to which they are responding, causing them to make comments that are unrelated to the discussion at hand.

I was indoctrinated with this book before I could even read. My parents got the cassette tapes for me and I had the entire book memorized. The story of the angel killing that entire army in their sleep scared the ever living shit out of me. But they made me listen to it and eventually read it. Nice effing stories. The one about Jezabel getting thrown out of a window to be fed to the dog's was another joyful tale.

First off you need to drop all your JW friends.. those guys are only holding you back, and as you said, you don't even believe in God ( I almost pissed myself laughing when I read that). Next, forget the cold calls man. You have to get some real friends and get introduced and chat with the girls a little bit before you ask them out. You don't have much time. Get to work and let us know how it goes.
