  i'm sure the jw's will be dancing around the may pole tonight celebrating!!

  honestly, mother therasa did more to help the needy and poor then the pope did any day.

  i always found it funny how catholics worshipped the pope, and even seem to think he is christ on earth or something.

  No.. I'm not saying that at all. I AM saying that the God YOU believe in could have done something if he wanted to. Im not even saying that God exists at all.

  If there is a God I think he is nothing like the Bible God, doesn't have human emotions and isnt a homicidal maniac. I allow myself to be open to the idea of a creator, but I have no idea what the hell he's thinking and I don't worry to try to figure it out.

  I can't love someone I've never met and I can't even prove exists. Plus watching all those dead bodies floating up on the shores of Indonesia and seeing their familiy members heart broken doesn't exactly fill my heart with love for these imaginary characters.

  What more is there to the equation than "happiness"? It's not enough.

  the thread on "happy jw's" got me to thinking about this.

  there really are some truly happy jw's.

  maybe it's because they don't take all the "do more, do more" stuff to heart and just do what they think is "enough".

  I started a thread along the same lines as this a while ago asking whether people would prefer to be a happy simpleton or a tortured genius. I think having a curious nature and always growing and making a difference is more important than 'happiness' in the most commonly thought of sense of the word. But I guess that makes me happy so im kind of contradicting myself..

  Making new friends after fading

  what are some good methods for finding and making new friends after fading away?

  i know this is critical to help myself and my wife to move on, and we both have suffered from depression partly because we are isolated to each other for now.

  we are good friends, but we both feel the need for others also.

  Hey, welcome to the board man! The biggest thing for myself was keeping things positive and just making a real effort to get out there. There are so many ways to meet new friends it can be overwhelming, but you first gotta make the effort. Nice to meet ya.

  she totally flipped out.

  all i was trying to do was find some mutual respect for my decision but she started smacking, punching, pushing me.

  soon after, she threw the biggest tantrum and it disgusted me to see her acting in such a manner.

  Tread lightly bro. Give your mom some time. It sounds like she might have some other issues going on and you telling her you are leaving the dubs could be aggravating it. As hard as it seems right now maybe just try to have some empathy for her if you can.. you are in a tough spot dude. Keep posting.
