don't you think the witness leaders would have given up the blood doctrine and 1914 by now had not apostates made such big things of them?
haven't they been painted into a bit of a corner where, if they tried to adjust things on blood now, everyone would come down on them like a ton of bricks?
if apostates were not so vigilant in watching the witnesses' every move, perhaps the governing body would have tried to drop the dubious doctrines by the back door, like so many others that they have discarded when they did not feel to closely watched (organ transplants, for example).

It was so nausiating to listen to those evolution talks - I felt embarassed for the speaker usually.
The last one I heard was a some doofus that said he could go on and on with technical "proofs" that evolution isnt true, but decided to focus on one very obvious proof of creation - the common household cat. How could that come about by chance? Kittens are so cute. It really made me laugh hard.

after reading and responding recently to a post about eating pork and clean and unclean meats, and also a few about newfound freedoms and pleasures that some enjoy now that they are out of the jws, i got to wondering if there is anything like that on the flip side of the coin.
in other words, despite you leaving the wts, is there anything you still believe that they taught, even though you left or were forced out, and no longer believe the rest of the jw doctrine?.
i was never a jw, but i was raised in a rather similar group called the worldwide church of god, many of the controls, strictures, and abuses that i saw as a child there, i see posted about here-though they are different, they are also the same.
I don't believe any of it at all.. I go out of my way to engage in activities forbidden to Witnesses, even if I'm not all that interested in it. I'm dressed in a Santa Claus outfit right now. I kind of view it the same as getting over a phobia, like facing your fears.

I understand what you mean here logansrun. When I got my own copy of CoC I read that thing in 3 days.. I just could not put it down. Same thing with ISOCF. That was such an exciting time. Since then it's just been my peeling away at the onion and trying not to be cynical, in what I can see as a really cynic inducing existence. For me reading, learning, being curious keeps me happy.

Jehovah isn't even the crazy tribal God's real name.. its Yahweh. Ray Franz has an excellent write up about the importance of and the significance of using God's literal name in his book "In Search of Christian Freedom". The oldest copies of the New Testament doesn't use his name ONCE.. and throwing the word "Jehovah" in place of lord changes the meaning of a lot of the passages.
