someone posted on another thread: the cong.
i came from we were not allowed to watch football though i'm sure some did on the sly.
football was likened to the christians being torn apart at the coliseum.
Our congregation ALWAYS had lots of Super Bowl parties. In fact, I met my future husband at one. What I thought was a little wierd when I was studying was that they would always turn off the volume for the national anthem and sneer about how they didn't want to listen to that. Of course, when I was a full-blown brainwashed dub, I didn't see anything wrong with that behavior.
on the 12th of this month, around 9:30pm, i was getting ready to leave for work.
running around, putting on clothes, making sure i had everything ready and the kids were settled in bed.
my husband, shawn, was laying aross our bed, resting, he stood up and suddenlly put his hand to his chest.
How frightening for you. You are in my thoughts. ((((Josie, husband, and kiddoes)))
hello all, the last 24+ hours, i've been at the hospital.
i took my husband in because he was having chest pains.
come to find out his cardiac enzymes were elevated and his ekg was abnormal.
((((MsMcDuckett)))) I hope all goes well for your husband. And I hope your twins will not do any shunning at this stressful time.
I'm thinking of you-please take care of yourself, too.
i was thinking of writing a letter to our local hospital, the hospital board, and the human relations dept of the hospital regarding the hiring of jw's.
i can think of 4 jw's employed there right now!.
i remember reading an article regarding jw's willingness to disclose personal health information to the elders, and would like to alert the hospital of this practice.. can anyone help me locate that article and what i should say?
Wow! Is this the hospital in your hometown? I ask because I know of 2 dubs that work there, and I'm not entirely confident that they haven't been in my files. I would love to do this. On a smaller scale, I warned my dentist who employs a dub. Probably not a big deal, but every bit helps, right?
i thought i would let you know that my dad, passed away a little while ago, tonight, january 23. they called me at 6pm to tell me.
he had been failing rapidly for the past month, and had completely lost his hearing and was totally blind.
the dementia was extreme too, and he still knew me on thursday, but didn't wake up to know me in the following days.
My deepest condolences to you and your family.
how lame was i that when i toured bethel many years ago, i was all giddy when i saw the old man who was "john" from the wtbts 'revelation' book?
"ooh!
it's the guy from the revelation book!
Yes, we knew David Lay. He was in several magazines. If I remember correctly, one was about how to cope losing your job. I can't remember the others anymore.
during the past few weeks i have noticed a lot of people sign off their posts with their names.. does this mean that we have no fear of the evil wt empire?.
bob evans.
walland, tn..
I have signed some posts with my real name, but now I think I should update my profile with it also. I would love it if people from my state (and local area, especially) make the connection and then realize that they are not alone and would subsequently contact me. It is a scary, lost feeling when one first is brave enough to come to this board, and knowing others are close by can be very helpful.
the jensen letters is the name given to a series of letters between an elder in the united states and the watchtower society, over the period 1998 to 2003, and neatly illustrate the plight of thinking jehovah's witnesses trying to make sense of the society's blood policy.
they are remarkable in terms of both the incisive questions asked about critical aspects of the blood policy and the society's incompetent attempts at 'spin' and sidestepping awkward issues.
even more remarkably, they conclude with the writer's letter of resignation as an elder!
I don't know how I missed these letters before, but I did. Thanks for putting these up-I just downloaded them. They will be very useful.
.
hey, i thought i'd just share this with you guys.
this is a picture of me at my green belt ceremony.. .
Congratulations! Aren't you happy to be free, and not having to follow Borg restrictions on martial arts? My seven year old son is testing for his yellow belt in TKD on the 21st, btw.
