Perhaps the word inserted above was missed by the original poster? This would jibe with the link, which shows a fundie taking the logical leap that, because she feels she is godly, and she feels that it is not appropriate to even think about legalizing marijuana, then all godly people must be equally closed-minded. Add that on top of the only offer to take xjwnews.com, which Mike has apparently spent much time customizing, coming with the comment that it would be skewed toward fundies.

Pace yourself with the satire and general news or you may get tired of it all too soon. Breaking news is appreciated, but if I miss JWdom breaking news by a week or a week-and-a-half, I've missed nothing but one or two PR cycles of the CCJW/WTS. XJWNEWS would become something I check on a regular, weekly basis, much like theOnion.com, rather than daily.

Okay, so $675.00 including $100 for membership and $575 for a press release on PR Newswire. I can personally recall seeing stuff from PR Newswire a lot, but I have a few frank questions:

- Do we really want the organization making the release to be called "xjwnews.com"? Something less immediately objectionable to Witness readers and less indicative to non-witnesses of our, um, predisposition. "Freeminds" always struck me as now immediately sounding anti-witness.

- Every time I have been on PR Newswire is because 1) a news source linked to it and 2) I was looking at the news source because of my interest, e.g. Yahoo! news for my specific industry. Is this just a craqp shoot hoping that this will more likely be picked up than what some here send to their local papers? If so, it might be fun to roll the dice.

I don't oppose this idea, may contribute, but think we must figure out how to be most effective.

Can anyone think of any time where their materials has been "altered" by apostates? LOL. The worst thing to do is reprint it in exact context. I think I may link to Watchtower.org just to see if it gets them miffed. So far music companies have objected to linked to download sites (not to them) and movie companies have objected to links to the code to descramble DVD data to read on Linux computers (which code is NOT needed to make pirated copies). But I've only seen companies opject to links to them in cases where it is linked from a negative website, and I think only from sites critical of someone else; e.g. ford.com, linked from f*ckgeneralmotors.com, sued 2600.com. I think. Anyway, they have NO standing to object to someone, favorable or unfavorable, linking to them.

went over to a disassociated witnesses house the other night,.

former org hatchet man,now as violently opposed to the org as he was, once, enslaved by them.. hes talkin "raymond franz says this...franz says that" all night.. it made me sick to my guts.. franz was pure borg heirachy, born and bred to power.. now hes opposed (if he aint dead by now)and these ex borg mind slaves are still listening to the guy like hes a repository of truth.. im not attacking ray franz,hes probably a nice guy,im just floating an idea.

Before I read CoC and ISoCF, or at least before I decided to read them, reading any books that touched on religion followed one of two paradigms:

1) When reading Society or Society-approved material, I wanted to agree with it to the point that I would rationalize any logical inconsistencies.

2) When reading material that might not be Society-approved, I was quick to find fault or to dismiss those few ideas that corresponded with my borg training as coincidence but not justification.

When reading Ray Franz, my eyes were opened to a lot of things, but what was critically important was that I disagreed with some of his thoughts - and I felt perfectly free to do so. Such freedom of thought is the difference between staying a slave but changing masters - even to an unwilling master, as I suggest Ray is - and gaining true freedom.

Perhaps YoYo was thinking of the expression "one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism." I think Paul wrote this, but as a Witness I always got him and that other guy confused. This can be seen as exclusive - as by the Watchtowerites - or as inclusive.

A biblical contradiction exists, and you need to choose which account you accept: The one where, when his disciples try to prevent someone from speaking because he is not part of their little group, Jesus says, 'whoever is not against us is for us.' The contradiction is elsewhere in his statement, 'whoever is not for us is against us.' Looking at context, I prefer the first formulation.

UN/WTBS - WTBS answer to all JWs

i think almost everyone on this board is aware of the latest case about the un/wtbs connections.

4 days later i receive an answer letter.

Having seen the Guardian email post, it is all the more clear that Boroea's translation is imperfect, though of course appreciated. But I still believe we can see implications in what I quote above.

Note that they did not say, "As soon as we were aware of that demand, WE CANCELLED our membership..." No, the passive voice was used. Did the command say, "let it pass that you are no longer inside of her"? NO! "Get out of her!" In Awake life stories people proclaim "I got out of her!" So what might the passive voice mean? Let me translate between the lines:

"As soon as we were aware [that Witnesses knew] of that demand our membership and NGO was cancelled [by the action of the U.N. DPI, which was disgusted to learn what we had said about the U.N.] and the writers ID-card was returned."

That's one possibility, and a strong one given the lie about signing anything, since even now the Lloyd Barry app is likely being dug up.

Of course, if we take them at their word entirely, then for most of us our baptism in Watchtowerism as minors allows us to exit the organization when any changes occur that we do not conscienciously agree with, which happens all the time - e.g. THEY tell you for whom you are ALLOWED to pray. Naturally, such disassociation should not bear any negative consequences, no?

- 1 from Writing to do the QFR that does not acknowledge that the current bulb is new or that there was ever a bulb there before the current one.
- 6 million rank-and-file JW's to insist that the previous light bulb was NEVER installed.
- 1 apostate to say, "That's the same bulb you took out 20 years ago. And it's burnt out."
