New Light on 1914
by slimboyfat inso with all the study articles discussing new light some have speculated that something is in the works.
blondie pointed out that in 1995 there were also "new light" articles leading up to the generation and the "sheep and the goats" changes.
there was some debate on whether the new light on the generation was first released at the convention or in the autumn watchtower.

Welcome Poodlehead.
I don't really know a lot about the situation you find yourself in. I would suggest finding a local family counselor who may have some sage advice for you. Perhaps you can gain custody without your son getting involved in front of his father. Maybe talking to the judge behind closed doors or something.
Good luck and I'm glad you found this forum. You will get a better understanding of what your ex-husband may be thinking.

I put this in another thread earlier, but I will say it here too.
The society is a business. The GB or lawyers or whoever run it that way. They will only change that which is necessary to hold onto publishers and the donations they give.
I don't think 1914 gives many publishers sleepless nights. Is it crazy and screwed up? Yes. Does it make the average publisher wonder about the nature of their faith? No.
I don't think blood gives many publishers sleepless nights. For those that have issues with the blood transfusion doctrine they can now accept all fractions. The society has given the publishers enough of a choice they the rank and file feel satisfied. Is it biblical? No. Is it logical or right? No. Does it keep publishers up at night wondering if they're serving God properly? No. - unless it has to do with lawsuits and potential financial losses;then they'll change it lickety split.
What is it that will cause the annual report to stop losing weight? How can greater donations be generated?
Perhaps, the friends are wearing out. Perhaps they're tired of living with alarm bells all around. Perhaps they want to do whatever the FDS says but they want to do it without the stress of MORE MORE MORE MORE being screamed in their ears.
It's a gamble for the society. If they drop the urgency plea the friends may abandon ship or they may become heartened and stick with the society for the long haul - just knowing they're doing the right thing by following God's representatives regardless of the paradise timing.
The question is then, what can the society do to keep members, keep member's money yet not lose sight of the end?
I really don't know. But, I bet the society has been working on this problem for several years.

Hi
by UNCLEAR inthis obviously is my first post, i actually feel like i may be sick but i felt compelled to post.
only if to just say hello.. my life has been anything but boring, pioneered for years, brought several family members into "the truth", and find myself unable to have studies anylonger because i feel unsure about the stand i have taken all these years.. i was previously married, my husband left the organization for various reason, we divorced and i recently remarried another brother, he is a wonderful man and husband, i care for him deeply we and had been friends for 15 years.
i also have a son from my first marriage who is 4, he is the love of my life, recently my son had an opertion that could require a blook transfusion and to be honest i could never deny him that.

Welcome Unclear.
I welcome you to the board.
We were always taught that we had a right to question, until we used that right. This is a place where you can ask the questions you may be afraid to give voice to. It's ok. We have all had similar issues.
For me, I always thought the society made so much sense because they backed everything up with scriptures. I never realized that religions or individuals with differing viewpoints did the exact same thing and appeared just as correct as the society. After examining several important issues (to me) I realized that the society is on less than solid ground with many of its doctrines.
Good luck on your journey.
I have posted this before but I like to repost it for new ones that I think will benefit from reflecting on it:
You're about to step out onto a road of self-discovery. It's a road that can get very lonely. Those who have known you the longest will be the most threatened and upset by your travels. Be strong, be courageous and be true to yourself. As you travel this road you will find others who are searching as well. Befriend them, console them and they will be of a benefit to you. There will be times when you are the only one walking on the road. You will feel the solitude. Take advantage of these times to search within yourself for what you believe, what you feel and how you want the world to know you. Roads like these never end but in time they can become more comfortable.

To make sure I understand this was from 2000 right?
If so, it may confirm what others here have said that prior to 9/11/01 the society was planning on softening up and moving to a more mainstream message.

by Death to the Pixies innot looking to debate here, just getting some ideas.
if you would, please give which text you accept and briefly give a reason or two for your conclusions.
i posted this on another forum but realized the only people who care about this are jws and x-jws.

I would add that reviewing the MT and the LXX has not caused me to rethink my disagreement with 607.

Latest WT study article - preparation for upcoming new light?
by truth_about_the_truth in.
the latest wt study article seemed like an article to prep the masses for 'new light' to be revealed in the very near future.. i have never seen an article like this one where they summarized their 'flashes of light' in their history in this manner and bombarded the minds with the need to accept all and any change within the org.. it could be for the purpose of getting the rank and file to accept a pretty big change or a series of big changes very soon.. what do you think?
what do you think it'll be?.

Silentwatcher, I have to disagree with you on this one. I don't believe the generation change was introduced at the conventions. They may have discussed following Jehovah's chariot and keeping up with the organization but the specific generation change came out in 11/95 WT. It was a big enough deal that bethelites were calling their congregations before the congregations even received their copies.
I suppose if someone had a late enough DC and a bethelite was speaking he could have stated this in one of his talks to be a big shot, but I'm really sure it wasn't part of the planned regular program.
When this article was received everyone was stunned. That is except for some who didn't understand the import of the material.
