weird comment from a MS to me....
by ?me? ina few weeks ago we were cleaning the hall and one of the ministerial servants that is in my cbs made what i thought was a weird comment to me.......... what is your take?
" so he repeats "thanks for your help" ok,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, he was not even in charge of the cleaning(we all know what needs to be done), actually no one was, but the bs overseer was there and helping also.
so i quip back "oh ok,yeah, and thanks for your help mr. young ms" maybe i am taking it the wrong way but it wasn't even his assignment to get done, it was the whole bookstudy's and then it was the elders job to make sure we did not screw it up.............................me ...................................................sorry , having trouble with the formatting... .

Did he actually call you "me?" If so he's spotted you here.
If not, he's a typical ms who is working his way to the top. Next time just say "I wasn't helping you, I was working for Jehovah."

Latest WT study article - preparation for upcoming new light?
by truth_about_the_truth in.
the latest wt study article seemed like an article to prep the masses for 'new light' to be revealed in the very near future.. i have never seen an article like this one where they summarized their 'flashes of light' in their history in this manner and bombarded the minds with the need to accept all and any change within the org.. it could be for the purpose of getting the rank and file to accept a pretty big change or a series of big changes very soon.. what do you think?
what do you think it'll be?.

Perhaps a reform of the reformed TMS.
That would be good since most of the friends don't care for the reformed TMS anyway.

Rank and Baseless New Light speculation
by FreeWilly inwarning, conspiracy theory ahead!
in the past few years we've seen a few of the old-school anointed gb members pass away.
given the fact that major organizational issues are decided by a vote within the gb, i wonder if the balance of power is shifting.

James I hear you and somewhat agree.
I just think that most witnesses don't really think about the 1935 date. Most of the newer ones don't even know what it is. They have never heard the replacement doctrine.
To them it's as simple as 144,000 go to heaven and there are some left. Yes, some younger crazies partake and that's why the number is inflated. That's why the society gives the reminder WT article before the memorial telling everyone who should partake and whos shouldn't.
I think if they just stop mentioning 1935 the won't need to change the doctrine at all. Dubs just don't care.
The core of the problem to me is that the dubs themselves don't care about these doctrines. We do.
The society needs something to motivate the dubs into re-action and re-contributing.

I think Taylor is great but his country song was his worst performance yet. He still won't go home though.
Bucky was in his element and even though I don't like him he did well.
Pickler irritates me. Who gets to pin her microphone on?
Chris did well with the country thing too.
I don't love country music but I can't imagine missing the show because of that. I hated the barry manilow week too but I was dying ot see how versatile each contestant was.

I put this in the other new light threads but I want to keep up with the different threads so I'll post it here too: The society is a business. The GB or lawyers or whoever run it that way. They will only change that which is necessary to hold onto publishers and the donations they give.
I don't think 1914 gives many publishers sleepless nights. Is it crazy and screwed up? Yes. Does it make the average publisher wonder about the nature of their faith? No.
I don't think blood gives many publishers sleepless nights. For those that have issues with the blood transfusion doctrine they can now accept all fractions. The society has given the publishers enough of a choice they the rank and file feel satisfied. Is it biblical? No. Is it logical or right? No. Does it keep publishers up at night wondering if they're serving God properly? No. - unless it has to do with lawsuits and potential financial losses;then they'll change it lickety split.
What is it that will cause the annual report to stop losing weight? How can greater donations be generated?
Perhaps, the friends are wearing out. Perhaps they're tired of living with alarm bells all around. Perhaps they want to do whatever the FDS says but they want to do it without the stress of MORE MORE MORE MORE being screamed in their ears.
It's a gamble for the society. If they drop the urgency plea the friends may abandon ship or they may become heartened and stick with the society for the long haul - just knowing they're doing the right thing by following God's representatives regardless of the paradise timing.
The question is then, what can the society do to keep members, keep member's money yet not lose sight of the end?
I really don't know. But, I bet the society has been working on this problem for several years. ______________________ On another thread someone mentioned women becoming elders. That's interesting but I doubt it will ever happen. However, I could see sisters being used as ministerial servants or doing the duties of ministerial servants but not having the title. There has been a lack of brothers for the last two decades that are willing to serve. Allowing the sisters to run microphones, set the stage, run the sound box, work the literature and territory counters, collect contributions, etc. would free up the ministerial servants that exist to work on being becoming elders, which would in turn help the society control the flock more tightly. Plus the sisters that are dying for more power and control (elderettes) would be in 7th heaven.

I sat down with my wife and said "I'm done."
I haven't had to tell anyone else.

New Light on 1914
by slimboyfat inso with all the study articles discussing new light some have speculated that something is in the works.
blondie pointed out that in 1995 there were also "new light" articles leading up to the generation and the "sheep and the goats" changes.
there was some debate on whether the new light on the generation was first released at the convention or in the autumn watchtower.

Women becoming elders? Hmmm. That would be interesting. Perhaps they will be allowed to become elders but not allowed to shepherd the flock.
Technically the difference between a ministerial servant and an elder is that elders teach and shepherd the flock.
Perhaps sisters will be able to serve as ministerial servants. Perform counter duties, run the mics., set the platform up, etc. Leaving the men to do the shepherding more time to focus on the dwindling flock.
That isn't a half bad idea. (by that I mean for the dubs).

WHAT IF...
There is no new light forthcoming at all?
WHAT IF...
The Society is just reminding the sheep who the shepherd is and warning them to stay in line?
Or...
What if it's an information gathering strategy? They could be putting all this talk out there and receiving feedback from COs through the DOs about what the friends feel is coming their way. Then the society can make a new light decision based on the feedback of the sheep!
Making decisions because they're expected by the sheep would be one way to make the sheep happier - happy sheep sit in seats and happy sheep shell out dough (cash that is).
