had a new to me explanation of something i've questioned about matt 24:45-47. i, along with some here, wondered why the "slave" in matthew is singular when the wtbts says it has to be a "class" because no one person could live long enough to be the slave.

personally, i've wondered why it couldn't be each person individually, but the d.o.

says there is precedent.

Sounds like you've had some nice discussions Bonnzo. Keep up the good work.

I have heard the Isaiah to Matthew explanation before. It does not make sense. There is no biblical precedent for linking the two together. If you are really intererested I would look at Isaiah in other translations and in a Hebrew interlinear to see other ways of phrasing the verse in question. As usual they scour the bible to find any verse that will support their argument.

I am not a believer in subliminal WT picture.

That being said, the link given to the six screens of the WT had some pretty interesting pictures that weren't subliminal but fairly blatant. Now I want to review my own copies of those pictures to see if six screens amplified anything to make it more obvious.

Horrific? perhaps. Intriguing? certainly.

a letter has been prepared by anonymous brothers to be sent to bodies of elders around the world.. of course this is a massive undertaking and we are asking for assistance from active and inactive ones around the world who share the sentiments of the letters contents.. your participation in this action indicates your sincere desire to see change within the organization that has become authoritarian in recent years.. we ask that the letter be addressed to "the body of elders" in each respective congregation.. please do not add any further information or commentary.. we are also relying on non-english speaking brothers to translate and distribute this letter.. it will not matter if more than one letter is received by each congregation.

I read and liked the letter.

I hope that its angle of entry into the dub mind will give it success.

However, I do not agree that the WTS can me changed into something tolerable.

Ip Sec, perhaps the authors of this letter still suffer under some of the dub thought process. Like using brothers not sisters for stuff and being a little too bossy. But, let's give them the benefit of the doubt and perhaps their eyes will open more widely with time.

Update: Last Nights Meeting

first of all i would like to think everyone for the support i recieved yesterday.

i would also like to shed some light on my past, hopefully this does not give it away as to who i might be.

my wife and i were both raised as jw, we were both baptized when were fifteen years old.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you sharing your story.

You have shown a lot of courage and strength.

Don't beat yourself up too much over past judicial committee meetings. You did what you felt was right at the time and were trying to help. Now you are doing the same thing but in a whole different direction.

Of course, me telling you that may not make your guilt disappear. I think all ex-elders suffer some sleepless nights thinking about those they "helped".

exiting the watchtower

hi im new to this forum and am currently trying to exite the watchtower.for the past 12 months or more i have stopped going on the ministry.in august last year i stopped going to the meetings but depression kicked in and other symptoms and i returned to the meetings in april.i stopped going to the meetings again in july and did more research to see if this is a cult.but im having all sorts of symptoms.confusion of whats right and wrong, panic attacks when i go out, one minute i hate the watchtower the next i wonder whether this is the truth and wonder if ive been mislead by satan.i dont know who to trust and where to go from here.and none of my family was ever in the watchtower so i think they know somethings going on but they can,t understand what im going through.ive been in the watchtower since 1999 off and on, i finally got baptized in 2005 after what i thought was carefull examination of the truth.and whats worse is the elder i studied with when i came into the " truth" lives right next door to me with his wife, which plays all sorts of guilt trips on me and paranoia.

after the sunday culttower study is over, everyone will be expected to preach because the end is soooooooo close!.

otherwise i think people might just miss it.

This would have been announced in multiple congregations. This would be major news to every JW.

One CO in one congregation wouldn't be making this announcement.

A letter to all bodies of elders would have went out and a planned announcement date given (just like the beginning of the donation arrangement and the release of the new organized book).

why would they write a letter shortening public talks starting in '08 and then have a CO make an announcement at a local KH that public talks are disappearing?

Sounds like Minimus' mother misunderstood or she has a rogue CO.

i cannot provide any background info on my dad except to say that he is not an attender anymore, but is not apostate.. years ago, my dad showed me why he thought 1975 was wrong, and he gave me a date like 2011, 2012...back in 2004.. it actually made sense to me back then, and obve's posts reminded me of my dad's calculations..... only my dad's calculations were not based on addition or multiplying of random crazy numbers, .

but actually were logical assumptions based on the scriptures as he understood them.. here is his email to me...it might be lengthy, but it is easy to follow and understand.

My research has told me that historians and anthropologists consider an ancient generation to be 15-20 years.

Modern generations are roughly 25 years.

A Change in the Generation teaching, AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

just wondering if anybody else has heard of a change of the generation teaching again and a change in some of the parables, this was heard by a friend of mine from a couple that was entering gilead(puke) and by a c.o.

The 1995 generation change was a large reason for many dubs leaving the organization. It was a major shift in doctrine. A major shift in doctrine that the WTS blamed on the rank and file.
