i talked with a relative today, and he's a devout ms/elder and is now going to elder's school & special meetings .

Since when are many elders former pastors or trained in seminaries? hahaha that's really funny.

We're not onlookers of the WTS, most of us are former or current members. Many of us were MS, elders, bethelites and so forth. We know the organization and aren't fooled by your BS conversation.
my husband and i faded/mysteriously disappeared from meetings over a year ago.
we've had a few visits from elders (where we said very little but thanked them for their time), the last one being when we had some nice jack o lanterns sitting on our porch.
on saturday, we got letters cordially inviting us to our beheading, i mean, our judicial committee meeting.
IMHO, I'd ignore it and wouldn't read any of their correspondence. If anyone ever asks if your disfellowshipped I'd say 'no'. If you get disfellowshipped in absentia but don't know about it, big whoop. You could move forward with your life without even knowing it happened.

New cards are out. Although I thought they only had to fill them out if their stance on some of the conscience matter issues changed.

I thought pioneer hours have been reduced. Several times.
I don't believe what every poster says but I have a ton of fun reading and posting my thoughts on speculation threads.
When concrete stuff, like the elders manual, get leaked and the information posted her I love it. I remember several years ago the bethel branch manual was leaked too. That stuff is priceless.
i was at a 2 day circuit assembly this weekend and i was surprised at how many times mention was made directly or indirectly reminding those in attendance (1,600) of the need to give $$$.
even in the soliloquies or skits they seemed to work in the need to give $$$.. it made me wonder if the society is having 'cash flow' problems and hence is desparate for cash.
over the years that i've attended conventions and assemblies the need to give $$$ has been subtle (imo), til now.
Weren't they going to buy a large plot of land near Warwick, NY? I thought they were going to build a facility even bigger than Patterson??
just to give you a little background about myself, i was a born-in, i'm in my late 20's now, i faded away a few years ago after researching the history of the wtbs on the internet.
my fade was aided by moving away with my job(i definately feel lucky about that).
eventually, i had discussions with a couple of my closer jw friends about why i no longer believed in the wtbs.
I remember myself and others saying that it was loving of God to have chosen a later date than we expected so that more could come into the truth.
Oh yes, how loving indeed...

do these people go back to the org or do they just go live their lives?

Some of us stay around because our immediate and extended family are all witnesses so even though we've personally moved on and are exploring other parts of our life we are faced with JW issues almost daily.
