I love my wife and want her to be happy - and free. I can't stand seeing her in mental anguish that she can't do enough to satisfy Jehovah and his organization. I can't stand knowing that she has to deal with the thought of her family dying at armageddon. I hate the fact that she and I can't or won't talk about certain taboo subjects because they may bring up too much emotional pain or touch on a subject that will unleash a torrent of emotion that's difficult to control and can cause lasting damage to a relationship. I am sad and hurt that we can't go to a marriage counselor to help us work through these problems because she has refused to go - since they can't make me do what I need to do - go back to the organization.

Someone who is good with words needs to reply to that poster that says she is lying about stuff. She is brave and should be applauded. We need to defend her on the article discussion; that will also tell the newspaper that this is a topic that deserves more investigation. -

Great thread. I'm in the same boat.
My wife misses tons of meetings and rarely goes in servus. Then all of a sudden she's active and trying to go regularly. It's like a clock pendulum swinging back n forth.
Sometimes my wife will just not get ready for the meeting and we will watch tv or hang out. I never question her about it.
We celebrate non religious holidays and do other no no things for witnesses but I know her heart is still in the witnesses and she believes everything they say.
But, how can she believe everything if she is so weak in the truth and does things that would clearly get her in serious trouble with the elders?
I have Steve Hassan's book, maybe two of them. I will get them out and re-read them because I need to develop an action plan.
My problem is that when she swings toward witness activity I get frustrated and it shows. Then I lose credibility with her. I need to be more even emotionally supportive no matter what she chooses. That is hard to do, at least for me it seems to be.

Video based indoctrination for children
by StarTrekAngel inlast night at the meeting we watched the "jehovah will help you be bold" video.
just another piece of propaganda to get children to recruit other children.
i was just reading another thread discussing the other video (where they guilt trip kids to give money) and i recalled a something from the video we watched last night.

I can see a lot of adult dubs liking this being played at the hall because it's something different and out of the ordinary. But soon it will become old news and their apathy will return.
It's fun for kids because the meetings are just so boring to them.

That was unbelievably well done! It brought tears to my eyes.
If only I could get my wife to watch something like that.

Specific Comments By R&F About May Broadcast
by freemindfade ini know there are many posts discussing the may money requesting televangalism...er... broadcast i mean!
but i wanted to start one where anyone can put what they have heard any non-exjw, non-apostate witnesses say good or bad about the broadcast.
i don't see how it can't rattle followers... but then again i might be surprised how they can twist things (2+2=5).

BTT. I don't hear a lot from too many dubs. Has anyone heard anything else about the May video? -

I think the WT believed their own "growth" statements - Financial Trouble Thoughts
by thedepressedsoul inwe've all read, heard and have seen in the videos where jw's and their leaders talk about the "huge" growth that is taking place.
they've talked about how many kh they needed, branches etc... .
our co last visit he mentioned how quickly the organization is speeding up and the huge growth they are seeing.

I wonder how the automatic donation stuff will work in a divided household.
I can imagine having to tell my wife that I disputed the credit card charges to the WTS. I will support my wife in her chosen religion but I won't support her chosen religion.

Wow driving force. I am really sorry to hear that. My wife spent a few nights alone when I was fading. But once her anger died down things went back to pretty much normal. Actually it wasn't anger but more fear. Fear that I would become a crazed, drug abusing, violent, drunken madman. As she realized that I wasn't though things she calmed down and we settled into a routine.
Good luck.

I think it is important to slow your activities as an ms before just quitting. Same for meeting pets. Miss one or two or get someone to fill in a few times at the last minute so they get the idea that you are struggling. Then after awhile you can tell them you would like to reduce your duties to deal with your personal issues.
The deal with fading is that it takes time. Its not for everybody because to truly try to keep the relationships you have made you need to go slow.

Wow. Welcome to the forum cognitivedizzy. Fading from elder or ms is harder but still possible. Read some of the threads on here from other successful faders.
My advice, get your wife to go with you and start to get phrases memorized like 'We are getting so stressed and down about this system (or work, family, whatever) that making the meetings is hard, but we are really trying' 'thank you brothers for your concern'.
If you want to step aside you will probably have to serve for awhile with limited duties due to your 'stress and depression'.
Fading can take awhile.
