Just threw away...
by stephanie61092 inso even though i don't drive much because public transit is so good where i live (and parking is a living nightmare), i always had a paper taped onto my glove box that said "no blood transfusions - jehovahs witness.
see legal documentation in wallet.
going through this "wake up" process as been a very crazy, emotional experience.

I remember how nervous I was to tear mine up. Like somehow I'd get in an accident and be left without God's approval. I also tore up my kids minor identity cards. Once I was over the fear and guilt I felt great and still do!!!! -

The Accounts Report or lack of one
by OnTheWayOut ini am pretty sure it's still the same since i stopped attending almost 10 years ago, but this is something to think about:.
at the kingdom hall, there's an accounts report.
they say they gathered in an exact amount of money for both local expenses and worldwide work and that it exactly went to these exact expenses and this amount was sent to watchtower.

I worked in the accounting department at the district conventions for years (now regional assemblies). We would be in the back rooms and the contribution boxes would come into a room, be emptied in front of several brothers and the sisters with the boxes and put into money bags and brought into the counting room where we had sisters at long tables with different jobs. Some sisters would unfold and straighten the bills (this all includes change too), the next sisters would organize them by denomination (basically counting) and the final sisters would do the final count (final count for sisters that is). Then a couple brothers would recount and they would mark down the amounts by the number of bills (like 10-$100 bills; 45-$20 bills; 20-$10 bills, etc). At the end we would have the money wrapped with the paper wrappers which had the amount printed on it from the bank (I think anyone can get those wrappers; for instance I think each packet of $20s was $400). Checks were handled by a small group of sisters separately from the cash and marked down as well. From there a report was made to the convention overseer and his cronies and they kept a running total of expenses versus contributions. Don't even ask me how much we would take in over a 3 or 4 day convention because I've tried to remember and I just can't.
That's how I remember it being done but that was years ago. Is it the same or similar now?

AWESOME!!! I am so happy for you!!!! As I sit here typing this after just reading your OP I am just dumbstruck at how great a turn of events this is. I wish you guy the very very best. I know many others will feel the same way but I just have to say that you've given me a lot of hope that one day my wife will wake up as well. -

Elders & Ex Elders
by brandnew ini have a question.....if two jw have sex and only one of them goes to the eldurrs and confesses.....do they both get busted?
or does the boe need a confession from both people.?
if one of em denies it happened will that person still get df'd?.

Shirley, I guess it isn't so much as falling for it as they just follow the rules. About the only leeway the elders would have is how long to leave him disfellowshipped.
It's amazing what people will do when they are under constant scrutiny. One one hand they'll claim it's the truth and everyone should just listen to them and on the other hand they try to get away with anything they can just to make life bearable.

Leaving jw propaganda all around the house, what to do?
by Crazyguy inthe wife leaves it all around, not sure if this is by design i don't think so since the return to jah brochure was never left out.
it drives me a bit nuts but haven't done anything about it.
looking for ideas on what i should do?

TheListener
Yeah I agree with Shirley, in order to make a marriage work you need communication. Discuss it with her and try not to be condescending, angry or judgmental. This is a case of do what I say not what I do because I stink at communicating and especially stink at communicating without sounding condescending, angry and judgmental.
Best of luck.

How to spot faders or "closeted" apostates in a congregation / meeting?
by nevaagain inso i am awoken for several years now (never really bought the cool aid) but for family reasons i am still enduring everything.
but my wife knows ... .
anyway so yesterday we had this boring meeting and as i was sitting there trying to make time pass faster i looked around me and i thought who else feels the same as me and is completely bored?

No Longer A JW Brother, I did that too! I made up my own lyrics to the songs but no one ever caught on. It was a small amount of rebellion that made the early days of my fade bearable. -

Shirley that sort of thing goes on a lot. Commit adultery to get divorced, remarry and get reinstated. The elders are supposed to look for that type of thing when adultery is committed.
Remember when homosexual sex wasn't considered adultery and you couldn't get divorced?

Welcome Chip! What a story. I'm glad you and your ex-wife found happiness. Really just an amazing story.
You were at WTF in the 80s? I don't know if Chip is your real name but if so do you mind telling us some more about your experiences there? What department did you work in? What congregation were you assigned? If that's too personal I get it I won't expect answers.
Glad you joined and posted.

Could we ever see a GB member disassociate?
by pleaseresearch inwe saw it with raymond franz.
but do you think we could ever see one of the current gb members or future ones, make the same choice?.
to leave, and expose it..

TheListener
Oh come on no discussion at all about some members of the GB using another member as a scapegoat to lay blame for losing J's blessing? I really think they'd do it if they felt it would increase donations and reinvigorate the rank and file.
If they did scapegoat someone I think Geoffrey Jackson is a solid candidate because of his ARC testimony.
