Welcome Gregg from the Windy City!!

the following is a comment from greg stafford.
if anyone has already posted this i apologise.
did do a search but couldn't find it.. http://www.elihubooks.com/lampstand/watchtower.htm.
I have read a lot of Greg's work. As HS says, Greg appears to be on a see saw of religious belief (paraphrase).
All I know is - if my wife who is a diehard witness and is raising the kids that way were to get some frickin' relief from the organization due to the smallest of changes - I would back whatever horse needed backing.
I'll never rejoin. She'll never leave. Any relief of the tension is welcome.
Well, ok maybe she'll leave 'cause I'm such a good listener.
i think it's easy to forget that our communication with others here can be very real.
we're not just "posters".
we're persons, real people--- and we have feelings and emotions.
Good thread.
Sankes, there is no perfect way to leave the WT. Do it in your own way and in your own time. Opinions are like &*!holes, everyone has one - and they all stink.
Para,
Perhaps your wife just needs some time to digest what she has read and seen. It is very upsetting to our brains when we're confronted with facts different from what we'd like to believe.
hey all,.
just checkin' in.
been here since '01, but don't even have 500 posts.
To all those lower poster longtime JWD members - it's nice to know you're there and doing well.
Restrangled, i am so sorry about your loss. All we have left when someone passes away are our memories. I truly feel for you and regret that your mother destroyed precious memories.
I love this board. It has become like a family to me. Unfortunately because I am in the process of fading I can never truly get involved. I know I've made some of the best friends I'll ever have on this board.
thank you all - high count posters and low count posters.
yesterday, thursday, july 26, 2007, a conversation with a street witnessor (isn't that what you would call someone involved in street witnessing?
) got joined by a walk-up elder turned into a great opportunity to witness to several bystanders (who even joined in the conversation).. i began by declining to accept the offer from the elderly woman who held up a "what does god require of us?
i said, "but, verne, you aren't going to the bible.
So this is what you do with your free time? make elderly ladies question their faith? Embarrass elders in front of the flock and worldly priests?
THAT WAS THE MOST UPLIFTING STORY I'VE HEARD IN A LONG TIME.
I really appreciate you posting that.
Keep up the good work and keep helping us to learn how to discuss similar subjects.
how many times have we heard this?.
i would like to know if any of you have any good arguements refuting this.
my brain is fried from two weeks of "fencing" with jw's.
Hi Dagney,
I asked this same question a couple years ago. Here is the link to that discussion.
Good luck.
i have been on here for only the past 3 days or so....so i don't really know how it goes.. this is an 'apostate' site right?.
so today i've learned that there is just the ol' regular apostate and an 'active' apostate.. but are there actually active witnesses on this site as well??.
because i just saw a topic about someone asking for advice on how to do a talk?.
Welcome 4digitcode. This board is for everyone. There are many many ex-witnessses here and there are many witnesses here too. We have all kinds - from atheists to born agains. It makes for delightful conversation and pleasant company.
Welcome.
I wouldn't tell you not to get reinstated - that's a personal choice. But, I will tell you that it is a long hard road and you'll have to do some serious mental gymanstics to make it work.
I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose.
this is a vent.
i just showed up at work and am livid.
the reason?
Is it just me or is hearing (or reading) Para and his wife talk to each other via posts just the best thing ever!!!
I am green with envy right now. I can't even begin to know what it would feel like for my wife to read and post on JWD - regardless of where her beliefs lie.
I have a lot of respect for both of you.
this has been an interesting week.
early in the week my wife started corresponding with one of her old friends.
he is no longer a witness and while i'm not sure what the catalyst was they started talking about why he left the witnesses.
Welcome Bobbi. I'm glad you're checking the place out.
Enjoy the board.
do you think that the internet and xjw forums caught the watchtower off guard?
just a few years ago, disfellowshipped ones were powerless and rendered silent by the watchtower.. to what degree do you think the internet has made life difficult for the watchtower?.
I've thought about that too Tatiana.
I think it has to do with being artistic rather than purely logical. Just because someone is famous they aren't logical. In fact many famous people have business managers that handle their financial empires. Perhaps it is sort of an extension to have a religion handle your faith? Others may feel that a very structured religion grounds them and gives them some defined moral center.
I know the WTS attracts artistic and logical people and some that are both but artistic individuals tend to be more sensitive to the world around them and a future paradise earth (minus the first 6 billion deaths) must seem attractive.
imho.
