JWs, Rules, Laws and the Zone Meeting
by TheListener inmy takeaway from the zone visit and the reaction of some dubs i know and some i've read on here is this:.
dubs don't care what their actual religious beliefs are or how they change but they do seem to care a lot about having any specific counsel discussed from the platform.. .
i guess this makes them a lot like everyone else, and maybe now we know what the wts achilles heel may be.. .

Good point Julia. How often does 1914 actually come up? Could it be now that jw.org is the new marketing thing that more people are finding alternative sites and starting to ask about 1914?
Really, that date is so old. If my kids and their friends are any kind of example then 1914 might as well be 1514 or 1614.

Are a lot of dubs questioning 1914? Or maybe the society sees the lack of urgency that's been going on for years. Whatever it is this seems like overkill.

FuGK This Religion- Stop Ruining My Life!!!
by wallievase ini am sorry for the title but today just took the cake.
after not going to the meetings since august and trying to sort through this with my family, my wife today told me she wants to separate because of our differences over being a witness or not.. this is ridiculous.
so i said- how can you separate from me when the religion you whole heartedly believe says you can only separate for 3 reasons- abuse, willful non-support, or stopping her from her meeting attendance, etc.

Hang in there Wallievase. I wish I could give you the magic answer that would solve your problem but I can't. I can't even seem to solve mine. But posting here, sharing and listening have helped me a lot. Hopefully it will help you too.

Roll call of those of us stuck in for our spouse or whos spouse is still in!
by BU2B ini just wanted to get a feel for how many here have awakened to ttatt but are still carrying on some jw activities to pacify them and keep the peace.
also trying to hear from those who have left, but whose spouse has stayed in the wt and in the marriage.. for me it comes down to my own mental anguish.
i am mentally tortured by attending the meetings, yet i feel compelled to because my wife would kill me with her personality if i had her drag 2 small girls by herself there.

I like this thread because it reminds me i am not alone in this. I know my wife is miserable being a witness but she knows that if she hangs in there the new system will come and it will all be worth it.
Meanwhile me and the kids live life to the full and don't discuss mom's religion if we can help it.
I would love to have my wife free of the dubs but I gave up on that a long time ago.

Is This ALL the Society Meant By Big Stuff Coming?
by millie210 inok, internet tv, some new songs and updates on a couple obscure prophecies no one cares about.... .
i for one was so disappointed at the smallness of it.
i guess i bought the hype that when they said "big", they meant it.. .

Well, there is still the Zone Visit in November. Perhaps more tidbits will be dropped from mother's ass.

New JW... One Can Only Dream
by Gustv Cintrn inhere are a few of my wishful thoughts that, if came true, would make me enjoy my religion even more:.
no more end of month time reporting.. delete one of the 1-day circuit assemblies.
may replace with a 'special meeting', such as the one we had last year.. eliminate friday from the big convention.. no more international conventions!

What about actually teaching what the bible says instead of what they would like it to say?

I miss Leolaia so much. Her posts and research were really instrumental in helping me free my mind. The few times we corresponded personally were so meaningful to me. Like most of who post here, when I was leaving I didn't know what to do, where to go or how to think. Leolaia helped me a lot.

Will JW.ORG actually harm the WT Society Long Term ?
by flipper inmy son and i were discussing this yesterday over coffee.
since the wt society in previous years virtually demonized going on the internet at all for jw's - now wt leaders are doing a complete turn around or about face probably so as to " compete " or keep up with all the anti-jw websites that are out there to give the wt society point of view.. however- it very well may backfire on them as once people start doing google searches looking for jw.org it will bring up all the other websites dealing with any jw issues and in the privacy of their own homes out of curiosity i'm sure lots of jw's are going to want to check out some of these sites to see what all the " apostate " hoopla is all about.
i wonder how many jw's will do this and will it have an effect in opening more minds to other views ?

I feel like I'm coming to the thread a bit late. But here goes..
I want jw.org to hurt them but I feel in my gut that it will somehow help them. Delusional members are already excited about how advanced the WTS is with the internet. This includes the Caleb cartoons and DVDs. The dubs I know are feeling like the organization has been given new energy and is really taking it up a notch - just before the end of the system - you know, to save more people. I think the website is poorly designed and out of date looking.
I also think that playing the videos at the door thing just sounds dumb. I can't imagine I would ever have the guts to actually do that. I was one who barely ever asked for a donation. It was easier and less embarrassing to just donate myself - twice. Once when I picked up my mags and once when I placed them with someone.
