Disfellowshipped at 18
by asensier inyou can probably guess how this story goes.. i began dating a non-witness boy.
he knew i was a baptised witness and understood the consequences i faced for dating him.
we agreed to keep our relationship secret, which was easy considering our 200 mile distance.

Reliable source - new round of US Bethel layoffs coming soon
by sir82 inwas talking to an ex-bethelite who is still very well-connected to those in the ivory tower.. he says that there will soon be a(nother) large number of us bethelites who will be "reassigned to the field" as pioneers and special pioneers.. he did not give his source, but he is pretty reliable.
incidentally, he was "reassigned to the field" in the last big purge about 7 years ago.. i imagine those so reassigned would be pretty teed off.
let go just before the golden lakeshore palace was completed..

I wonder if the GB1.0 just let bethel get too full of people because they felt the end was coming any time and they wanted lots of well trained brothers to help manage the work in the new system?
GB1.0 didn't seem to be as business and media savvy as this new GB.
As cults go, it's like the org went from a mom and pop shop to a glitzy multi-national in the span of 3 years or less.

The "Final Push" before the GT!!! I think they REALLY believe it!
by DATA-DOG ini don't know if i have shared this with everyone, but there seems to be a new theocratic term, at least in my circuit.. the term is "final push.
" wtf does it mean?
well, an eldub said that the gb are "all in" with warwick and they might spend all their money on the project.

I recently learned a term called institutional memory. Its the memory of a group or collection of people versus a single individual. It seems that the witnesses don't have institutional memory and the GB2.0 knows this. So they can ratchet up the fear and pressure to make increases and then when nothing happens instead of admitting they were wrong they just ratchet it up again.
I guess I should read about institutional amnesia.

Index of acronyms : help for new forumers
by Mary J Blige inam finding a whole lot of acronyms that are really foreign to me and i now have an appreciation for what cult language sounds like to non-culters.
wondering please if you can post your definitions so i can get up to speed.
otherwise, as an indoctrinated ex-culter, i am inclined to create my own new light and swiftly it will be gospel.

TTATT =the truth about the truth
RC = regional convention (this is the new name for the district convention)
CA = circuit assembly
UBM = unbelieving mate
AGM = annual general meeting (yearly wt corp meeting in ny or nj)
GB2.0 = the newer governing body that exists today as opposed to GB1.0 which had the old timers from the 70s/80s on it
C&S = Caleb and Sophia. The society's latest child indoctrination cartoon characters

How many lawsuits?
by kairos incould this be a "wake up trigger" question to a nosy elder?.
"how many pedophile lawsuits are the wts legal team currently defending?".
how would/could they answer?why should the answer be secret?.

DOC, I think your post is almost totally right. Some of it is exaggerated a bit, like the menopausal wife, but the essence of your comments about the elders being busy and wearing blinders and feeling special because of their title/authority in the congregation is really accurate.
And you're right about the Goodwill suit, because dubs don't shop at Salvation Army.

Sir82 years ago I would have agreed with you but I don't think this GB has the same lack of forsight that the previous guys had. They seem to know that their growth will come from the inside and they need to stop the youth from leaving. I think a short youth centered meeting or gathering at the KH before or after the Sunday meeting will eventually be started. And the kids will still have to sit through the adult meeting just like before. Getting kids indoctrinated early is the name of the game. -

Looking Back in Retrospect to 1995 ...
by LoveUniHateExams ini very much enjoyed reading through titch's thread: 'looking back in retrospect to 1975 ...' and all the comments from posters that lived through that event and remembered it.. i was born in 1979, so had nothing to offer for that thread.. however, i do remember very clearly living through 1995 (the end of the 1914 generation) and remember how it affected me and my view of the wts.
up until oct/nov 1995, i genuinely believed the society to be god's one true earthly organisation.
the watchtower presenting the new meaning of generation seriously shook my faith in the wts and, i suppose, started me on my journey to ttatt.

I had a friend from bethel call me before the WT arrived at our hall. He told me something big was coming and to read the study articles as soon as I got the magazine. I did.
I conducted that WT study. It was just as OTWO said, read paragraph, answer and move on. It was like no one cared that it was a major change. I think no one at our hall really fully understood it.
At the time I thought it was a big change but it didn't mean that much since the end was still coming soon. I had no idea it would cause some to leave the dubs until a few months later when I started hearing stories about those who left.
I don't think I fully understood what the change really meant until I started reading this site and others. The overlapping generation teaching is a joke.

But as with all things in dubland the newness of these videos, tablets and jwdotorg will wear off and full on apathy will resume. -

Teens are cynical. Once a kid has aged past Caleb and Sophia (which is probably younger then the wts thinks) the wts has nothing to offer them.
Older kids are pretty media savvy these days and I agree with other posters that teens and preteens know when they are being fed propaganda.
I really wouldn't be surprised to see the wts institute some sort of after meeting or before meeting Sunday school. It may only be 25-30 minutes but it would a video, short discussion and a fun craft. They know they need to get young kids to want to go to the kingdom hall. The kid begging to go gets the parents motivated and attending.
They are working hard to improve their youth retention rate.

Picking Someone To Be An Illustrious Member Of the Governing Body/Faithful & Discreet A Hole Club What Is It They Look For?
by Brokeback Watchtower inthis is a work in progress so let me postulate a few and then post your observations.. i think when we examine this subject we will be able to understand how they picked this recent batch of new comers who can just about manage to even tie their shoe laces and clearly are almost complete idiots.. i'm sure they test any gb hopefuls as to loyalty and courage to face pressure and make defenses for the corporation sound at least plausible and with in the limits of understanding imposed by the corporations edicts.. i know anthony morris came from wealth and he mentioned in one of his talks that his aged father tried to warn him about giving money to the wt corporation and he said that what his dad didn't know was that he was the society (he may have been trying to get some money from his wealthy dad to give to the corporation as sort of an investment in loyalty that would catapault him to gb stardom and who knows maybe even chief honcho.. so i wonder can some buy their way to the top?
after all it is a scam operation based on bullshit and all the members of the elite are money hungry if not for themselves then for their sock puppet jehovah/me.. what say you?.

I think they are true believers that passed the test of not rocking the boat. I think Ted jaracz was instrumental in selecting them.
