Based on your last post I,would ask are you considered a spiritual JW man? If not that may be why they are so shy. If you are they may just be nervous and not want to lead you on. You know, no dating, only courtship. -

My wife was shy and inexperienced about real life. It was a tough adjustment for a bethelite and a regular pioneer to have to make it on their own.
If you look carefully you can find a hard working, kind, supportive witness girl or woman - just don't ever leave the witnesses.

Good luck STA. Definitely continue to take care of your physical and mental health. Your wife won't like going alone and the questions and looks she'll get but hopefully the congregation and your wife will get used to it pretty quickly. -

It seems that the LDC would have to coordinate with each congregation that makes a purchase request to be sure they have the right information as far as mounting requirements, wiring and other stuff. Sounds like more work for the LDC and more profit for the WTS. -

Question about visiting bethel ... akward moment at the end
by nevaagain insince there a couple of ex-bethelites here, and a lot of people from the greater ny area who have probably visited the bethel in brooklyn and patterson many times, maybe they can shed some light into this curious question we (my wife and me) have for awhile.. so a couple of years ago, we happaned to be in the states and also went to visit the bethels in brooklyn and patterson.
we had the full package, what i mean is, not only we took the tour, but we also had someone to invite us for lunch.
while we wanted to enjoy our stay there, there was always a weird feeling being there.

Invite friends from home who you know really well for a meal to to see your room - no tip really expected but really really appreciated.
Invite someone else's friends or people from back home you don't know that well in for a meal or to see your room - tip expected.
Invite girlfriend/potential girlfriends family or friends in for a meal or to see room - no tip expected but really appreciated.
Send out yearbooks - letter with thank you and money expected.
That was my experience.

I lied to the elders
by atacrossroads ini stopped attending meetings all together in january 2015. before that my attendance was irregular at best.
my husband followed suit a few months ago after months of research, agony, and indecision on his part.
from the very beginning i laid low and did not share with anyone what i found out about the witnesses because i did not want to be df'd.

I think you handled yourself just fine. You should be proud that you stood your ground and maybe you left your mom with some thought or two that will make her think sometime tin the future.
This board really is great! It provides the emotional support for the OP and for the everyone else lurking that feels alone and isn't comfortable posting. That can be seen by how much support ATA received on this thread and especially by a lot of newer posters who are going through similar situations themselves.

Talk on "Reaching Out"-Only What BOE Thinks Matters
by Simon Templar infor the “living as christians” section of the workbook, “are you reaching out?” talk (15 min), the bethelite gave this talk at the meeting.
he totally departed from the subject matter which is the watchtower of september 15, 2014, pages 3-6. he was so far off the reservation, it wasn't funny.
here are a few highlights of what was said: 1) if any brother asked why they haven’t been appointed, and wants to know if there is a problem or condition that exists, that brother is too “presumptuous” and therefore, can’t be used.

Simon I was so excited to read your op. You just never know what will really upset someone and get them to think. Hopefully she continues thinking and eventually you are free.
I hope my wife has a moment like this one day.

LOOK! Something new and shiny!
by stuckinarut2 inisn't it amazing just how easily distracted the average witness is?.
with the flood of stuff being produced and uploaded on the website, from embarrassing corny videos and songs, to music for kids, to cartoons etc, the average witness has no time to actually stop and think about the actual doctrines or facts about the organisation.
nor the past, nor the scandals being exposed by real news outlets and media.

ttdtt, from my experience you are totally right that not many witnesses can explain their teachings anymore. My own wife can't really explain the teachings and isn't even sure what the current beliefs are in many cases. I won't go into detail but let me say that recently my wife had to ask me - ASK ME - what she her beliefs were on a certain subject (meaning what was the correct witness stance)!!! I politely told her the WTS view and she was like 'oh ok' and we moved on. Plain weird.
