The World vs the truth. Typical cult language, us against them, right vs wrong, good against evil.

how can the Jw's explain away the haiti earthquake?
by highdose ini'm sure they will get asked on the doors "how could god let this happen?".
i belive the standard answer is a fudged recitation of adam and eve, basicly meaning its ok that these people died becuase way back when, someone disobeyed god, and that makes it ok.... any other stupid jw explanations for this?.

My dad would answer thus ... Well actually it's a good thing. God is letting it happen to fulfill Bible prophecy and to wake people up. Turn to Matt. 24 and notice that earthquakes are just another sign the end is closer than you think. Jehovah is showing his loving kindness by allowing these warnings so people will take notice. They need to begin serving him or they will be destroyed.
My parents as well as other J.W's I know get extremely excited when there is a disaster like this that fits into prophecy.
Very true! Only someone who has come from a brainwashed cult could ever put a positive spin that innocent people including babies and children and mothers and fathers have died from this devestation. How utterly disgusting!!

Do any of your friends worry you will go back?
by creativhoney inhello all.. in thes spirit of another thread i read where the boyfriend was badgering our poster about the religion saying he wanted her to forget it and not go back... do you have friends that worry?
my best friend is always asking me... do you think you will go back?.
do you think its because when we were in we so vehemently proclaimed we believed it?

My wife. She is so devout to this religion, i couldn't leave while we were together, so many fights and threats, life would be miserable. I would have to leave her first. We have a horrible marriage right now even though i am going. With all things being equal we should'nt be together anyway. Without her I leave this cult in a second.

Did you ever feel being a JW was like ...
by sacolton inhaving a license to be a complete douchebag to others?
it did for me.
i could automatically judge and condemn those who i didn't know and feel superior towards "worldly" people.. .
-
whatistruth
I felt worldly people were inferior to me but when i had to communicate with them i was extremly shy and a bit intimitaded. i guess because of the extreme segragation jw's have with people outside of their cult.

However, could you try to see a marriage counselor, just to know you tried? Take it one day at a time, be true to yourself always. Try to read books that fit your needs. Get into a sport or hobby to lighten your heart. Take care in your path of a free mind and free honest heart.
That is a great suggestion but she will always be a witness and i never want to be in this destructive cult again. Too big for anyone to overcome. She will get the love bombing all at once for everyone and i will be the one satan got to. i will be the one to endanger her spirtual health and she will be pushed to leave me for her own spiritual welfare. seen it a thousand times.

So what sacrifices did you make for da troof? Any regrets?
by hamsterbait ina few years ago at the ca, there were experiences about what people had given up to serve jehovah.. (sidebar - in every instance where i personally knew those on the platform, the experiences were lies or at best half truths embroidered with lies.).
anyway - the interviewer was constantly saying " as a <insert profession> you could have earned <insert salary>".
what annoyed me was that somebody who gave up a full time job cleaning toilets for jehovah, and took a part time job cleaning toilets was not even invited to participate.. hb.
