  Did You Ever "Learn" Anything Because You Went To The Meetings?

  years ago, you could attend a meeting and hear a well researched talk or give an answer from the watchtower that had some "meat" on it.

  i remember in the 70s when witnesses used to look forward to ruminating on what might be a "new point" or a veiled possible new understanding of a doctrinal view.. these days, the only thing you could learn from a meeting is that brother so-and-so got deleted or "is no longer a witness".. what a bore!.

  There are many intelligent people within that doubt and even do not believe. The biggest obstacle isn't weather one believes this, it is weather their loved ones can be convinced to go with them. And unfortunatley most are tied into this because of love of family and fear of "everlasting death".

  Did you dress modestly when attending CA's & DA's?

  just wondering if you were modest in your attire?

  i know they always preached modesy but always seen a lot of bling, bright & colorful outfits and way overdone makeup and hair styles.

  and they knew it!

  I agree hamilcarr. The younger generation today is in it for the duty and hope. But as each generation is born into it, the less knowledge they possess. I'll just do what I'm "supposed to do" is the mindset of the younger generation today.

  I don't see the comfort that's for sure. But I know what you mean, for most it has been there whole lives participating in the exact same things each day, week, month, and year. This is where the comfort them must lie, any change from that "routine" is very disruptive to the spirit.

This is probably the least opposition jw's have ever faced in their history. And the world is a much better place to live in than 70 - 80 years ago.

  All these things plus many more that just do not come to mind, yet the members still go to their meetings service etc..most thinking that their god actually exists and even more "step in and solve there problems"

  At what point will there be a mass exodus where many will clue in and say this just is not true?

  if i thought there was a magnificent spiritual being who cared for me, i would pray every day, not just if i felt low and had no one else to talk to.

  we don't spend time with friends only when the going gets tough.

  we share the good as well as the bad.
