My Nan's Pentecostal Funeral
by GetBusyLiving ini got back yesterday from newfoundland, where my nan had just died a little over a week ago.
i was pretty upset that i wasn't able to see her one last time as she had died one day before i got there.
all in all the family held up as well as can be expected.

Aww hun, Im sorry to hear about your nan...that priest, what a c*cksmoker! That was big of you to hold it together through that! Im glad you were able to be with her before she passed. That was really cool, what she said to you.
My grandma is not well these days, she is jw and just started talking to me a little within the past couple years, Im glad for that because she wont be around for long. I hate to think of when she passes. No one treats you like your grandma can.
Hugs...April

Seeker4 - divorce final today
by Seeker4 inafter 33 years of marriage, my divorce became final today.. my wife is still a jw, though i left a decade or so ago.
we always thought we'd be the exception that would stay together despite one of us no longer believing.. a very bittersweet day.
she was a terrific wife in so many ways.. s4

I noticed that nearly everyone felt that divorce is a bad thing. I beg to differ. Divorce from a marriage that wasn't working is wonderful, liberating. The marriage served its purpose and was not a failure while it worked.
Thats nice that you have such a positive outlook about this subject but maybe thats because you found a better relationship, and for me anyway I feel like when I got married it was for good and it was completly crushing to find out that the person you are in love with turns out to be a rotten individual and not who you thought you knew at all. I'm sure that when I do find someone else that Im happy and in love with that I will feel better but it will never completly correct the pain, devestation and complete loss that has occured in my life. So speak for yourself but being 24 years old with a baby, divorced from a man who is a deadbeat dad and has never been there for my son is not a "wonderfull, liberating" experience. I find it very insensative to discount a persons own experience and project how you think it should feel or has felt on to them. Any way, thats just my 2 cents, I'll get off my soapbox now...peace-April

Sorry to hear about your divorce seeker, I am also newly divorced, got out after only two years though and a baby. I couldnt imagine after so many years. Divorce is never easy but everyone gets through it eventually, hopefully you have a good support system, if not maybe you can join a support group...good luck, April

What was your most humiliating point of being a jw?
by love11 inmine was when my mom signed me up to sit at a table at our local university.
we had to sit there and talk to students as they passed by our table.
a few people came up to start a conversation and i didn't even know what they were talking about.

Calling on a schoolmate was pretty bad. Also My dad and I used to go swimming at the highschool pool during the week and this one time there was a boy there that I had a crush on for a long time, he was in one of my classes, we were in 8th grade and so I was talking to him in the pool and my dad came over, introduced himself as my dad and asked the kid if he knew I was a witness and proceeded to start preaching away to him. I was sooooo embarrasssed, I wanted to drown right there on the spot.

Serious questions about breastfeeding
by wordlywife ini will thank everyone ahead of time for not turning this thread into something it ought not to be.
i am expecting my third child and have never breast fed before.
my questions are these: .

Are you worried about breastfeeding in public because you are planning on it? I nursed my son and never once had to feed him in public. If we were out and about I just went out to my car which I had the windows tinted on so I had lots of privacy there. Also If I knew we were going to be out for a while I would bring along a bottle and make sure I had pumped some milk for him or even would give him some formula. He had no problem with "nipple confusion" and I could switch between nursing and a bottle with no problem. I also bought a "boppy" to put around my waist while nursing it was much better than using a pillow. What other things are you wondering about?

Unfortunately I proceeded to get involved heavily with drugs as soon as I left. I was curious and felt drawn to the "party" crowd or just any crowd for that matter since I moved away from all my friends to a place that was very isolated. So the years that surrounded my leaving the org. is quite blurry. But I'm all better now and am very grounded. I think that becoming a parent has made me realize whats really important and theres more to life than a constant party. I was only 17 when I left and wasnt close to the family that shunned me and had barely any jw friends so my departure wasnt that hard.
