he wanted to know where my daughter lived, what her married last name was now, how the family was doing, etc.
he asked her if she thought my not attending anymore had to do with the fact that i had a business and now i'm "materialistic".

You're a good son to your mother. She is smart so she will in time (& that time may be closer than we know) see thru their manipulations, and her maternal instincts are kicking in to protect her son...who has done nothing wrong. I think the elders will prob wind up doing more to drive her away than any material you could present to her.

by JT inlast evening we went out with 2 other former jw couples a couple of guys and their wives i knew from the old days of bethel.
we were discussing the public apology that the catholic church just authorized to be made to the child abuse victims for their cases being mishandled as well as that $100 million dollar check they just cut.. .
and i will ask you all the same question .

Don't talk to them (elders) about anything and especially do not disassociate. It's all about them wanting you to play by their rules. If you don't disassociate, you are not giving them any authority over you. Whatever authority they think they have comes from their silly little feeble minds. And good luck on a new life. I would hope your parents would not shun you because they would be cutting themselves off from a grandchild...of course you never know.

I JUST CALLED BETHEL AND THEY FAXED ME THE OFFICIAL "APOLOGY" FROM THE FD&S.
"In recent times God?s Organization has been attacked by Satan?s earthly legal institution with regard to alleged sexual misconduct of certain elders in the Christian congregation. With regard to those making such assertions, we must warn them that running ahead of Jehovah and demanding so-called justice from Satan?s system rather than waiting for the Faithful and Discreet Slave is ill-advised and could even hamper their relationship with Jehovah. We humbly ask all those with supposed complaints to forgive us for waiting on Jehovah, and as their Mother who is in charge of dispensing their spiritual food at the proper time we would also ask them to remember the light is growing brighter towards the time of the end."
So there you have it...I just love it when they're humble.

Is the word "bulletin" negative?
by crizlee inat last nights meeting my dad gave the announcements and he said bulletin board.
after the meeting an elder came up to him to tell him that bulletin is a negative word and to say information board next time.
whats up with that?

I remember the edict coming down, it seems way back in the '70's that "bulletin" was no longer acceptable and it now had to be called an "information board"...can't remember the illogic behind that ruling. I do remember my dad, who didn't like uncalled for BS, was mad because they made such an issue over it. He wondered why they didn't come out with an instruction talk for the brothers on how to pronounce the word "organization". The vast majority from DO's down called it, the "Organ-Eye-zation".
We also got a talk about how "bolo" ties were unacceptable. Pissed off a lot of old-timers.
