a friend told me tonight that the elders broke up a group of sisters who were all experiencing various degrees of depression and enjoyed the upbuilding association with each other.. why would they do this?
according to them for two reasons:.
because this looks bad to the cong.
Are these 5 sisters actually going to listen to them and not associate with each other.
They shouldn't let them have this kind of power over them.
They can't get in trouble for hanging out with each other. As long as they follow the rules. You can't get disfellowshipped for associating with someone who is good standing.

i recently heard this "experience" from a now "christian" former jw, which has not previously been publicly communicated.
this jw then moved back to their home area (no jw relatives), and simply continued living their already-in-progress non-jw life.
inevitably, this exjw christian started bumping into their jw former associates.

No I don't think that God smoked the elder who was going to make the annoucement. If that was the case He would have to protect everyone that way. He would have had to smoke the child molester in his tracks before he or she caused unrepairable damage to the young child. He would have to kill the murderer before the murderer kills the father of three who rely on him for support. It just doesn't work like that.
Think about it WWJD. Would he go around calling someone names and insulting them.. because hey He is God's son and He is forgiven?

many persons studying with the jws go ahead and get baptised, but many others do not, do you know such ppl and the reasons they gave for stopping contact with the jws?
they did of course the right thing and spared themselves a lot of potential trouble and exploitation in the future.
a person i knew gave up all contact with the dubs after a year of studying with them, because she found them to be too pharisaic they put a lot of demands on the members but don't do anything to help them, like modern day pharisees.
I know one man who stopped studying before he got baptized.
He said that at the witness parties he attended he saw that he couldn't drink enough beer to keep up with them.
He was only able to throw back two beers at a sitting while the rest of them did way more than two in a session.

months ago my aunt told my mother that because she associated with me and she knew what my stand for the "truth" was, that she must stop associating with me because her association with me was a way for "the demons" to get to my mother who could then go to my aunt and others.
my aunt told my mom that if she didn't stop her association that she couldn't continue with seeing her own sister on a weekly basis.
my mom will be 80 this summer and my aunt is 82. my mother told her that she would not stop seeing her (1) son that "takes care of her" and that if my aunt's conscience was demanding of her to refrain from association, then so be it.
You're doing the right thing Min, by taking care of your mom. And she is doing the right thing by loving you.
