Terry---At first I wanted to argue with you, "there is no hole" that needs filling! Then I really thought about it and realized you were right. There is a hole! I have been working very hard on thinking for myself. I sit criticallylistening to what is said. Questions now form in my mind that were NEVER there before. How am I to now think about blood, 607, 1914, the generations. How does it affect ME? Where do I go from here? You know what? There is a hole. SAD.

DEFENDING THE LIE----by avoiding the truth about THE TRUTH
by Terry init is surprising how intellectually dishonest an otherwise wonderful person can be; (a loved one) when it comes to holding on to.
a horrible lie.. you see it everyday.
a woman will defend her husband against child-molesting and disbelieve her own daughter.

Many are NOT avoiding the TRUTH about the truth, otherwise they would not be here! New ones everyday, overcome ingrained FEAR and LOOK at this DREADED site! No a VERY DISAPPROVED SITE! Yet we come, asking questions. We are curious, even rebellious and a little afraid of what we will see. Then we have the hard task of letting go of our DEVIL fear! Then we wonder what to do with this information. It takes time to process.

OZZIE: you are wrong, at least about my loyal BS conductor. He is not embarrassed because he doesn't understand it anymore then anyone else nor does he want to! Last night at BS, he went off on a tangent about how we studied some time back about the ships of Kittim. He said it was really good information but he can't remember what it was about! Then why bring it UP, was my question! BS this past six weeks has been more boring and agonizing then usual!

jehovahs witnesses and cashing in retirement money early...
by kittyeatzjdubs inwhen i was about 16 or 17, one of the elders in our congregation told my mom that he had it from ''special sources'' that the end was very near.
so he said that him and a lot of other dubs were cashing in their retirement early and using it to buy new houses, cars, and to go on vacation.
their reasoning was to spend the money now, since it would be useless when the new system arrived a few years later.. so the elder and his wife cashed in their retirement and used the profits to buy a new house and go on a cruise, which my mom and i also went on.

I understand that concept. I married in 1976 at age 18. The world as we knew it was coming to an end any day. We waited and waited. Worked our asses off actually. We did all of the right things, we put the kingdom first, we raised our kids the "right" way. We took out of our retirement fund proably three times over the years. Depleted it actually! When things got tough on our one income, we paid off debt and smuggly thought we didn't need it anyway! Oh, we were so superior as one other thread pointed out! We had "special" knowledge that the world didn't possess! Retirement? It is looming large! I am now a single woman reading books on how to retire. My nest egg needs to grow and grow quickly! At least I wised up and now have one!

To all active JWs or double life JWs
by NowImFree inone of the previous posts made me wonder how many active jws post on this site and how many of you are only in because not wanting to lose your family and you are leading a double life and also how many of you are still active but questioning.
please, all of you, i would like to hear your stories (of course not enough info to give away your identity) and why you are still in.

I haven't been active in FS for almost four years. I can't imagine EVER going in FS again. I attend meetings about 60 to 75% of the time. I would be identified a "spiritually weak". I have many questions about many of JW beliefs, but I have to admit, I still have fear that I have been trapped by satan. Big FEAR! I keep reading here on the JWD to exercise my mental muscles. It takes work! I also have family in but I am beginning to wonder if I couldn't make it without them.

I am often, so greatful that information is to be had on the JWD! I won't be attending the meeting at my hall today. I have been inactive in the FS for some four years now. I can imagine how uncomfortable it would have been today, if you hadn't done your review! I mentioned the article to my daughter and son-in-law yesterday. I told them what it was about. My son-in-law is irregular. They just rolled their eyes.

I had an interesting discussion with my ex-husband this morning. He read something I posted here on the forum and took exception to what was written. Interestingly enough, it was written in Jan.05. Not Jan. 06! Has anyone else had problems with family members reading posts and becoming upset? I know that we have husbands and wives and also boy/girlfriends posting, also siblings. As it is, my ex-husband and I have some of our best conversations around what we read here on this forum. Even this discussion this morning was worthwhile, as I went back to that post and saw what my thoughts were a full year ago. For me, this is NOT an anonymous place to go, as I am sure it is not for others. Even this post causes some concern for how he will feel if he reads it. Any thoughts?

"You may be laughing now....but.."
by Jez inmy ex-husband, still a jw, and i were having a rare phone conversation about our girls.
it was surprisingly amicable until he sadly said, "you know, all i ever wanted was for my girls to be pioneers.
" i burst out laughing and said, "that's all?

Just to play the "Devil's" advocate, you said you were having a surprisingly amicable conversation. He revealed his feelings to you, obviously feeling safe in doing so, that all he wanted was for the girls was for them to pioneer. You began to laugh at him, in fact continued laughing even as you hung up. NO one enjoys being laughed at! In fact it is only his deeply ingrained beliefs which surfaced and for which he relied on to ward off your rude laughter! You were having an amicable conversation. You could have turned it around and offered other alternatives for your girls, which would have kept the conversation cordial. Frankly, I think YOU owe HIM an apology.
