June 2004 Magazines, info wanted please

i'm wondering if anyone has any information about the june '04 mags concerning whether or not there was an "update" on how jw"s are supposed to treat their disfellowshiped family members.

i received a scathing letter from my mother telling me to never contact them again and upon telling someone about this, they thought they saw something in a june mag.

dictating this behavior.

Im not sure as to the answer since I no longer recieve magazines but I would not be surprised if they are clamping down. I have taken notice of increased pressure put upon faded ones to openly state which side of the fence their on though. I think they might be in damage control especially with all the spotlight they have been recieving due to the UN, blood, and child molestation. Their way of damage control is blaming the victim rather then themselves. Somehow in their mind its more feasible to crack down on DF and DA ones family association then admit that the fault may lie directly with them. Cutting off family members from DF'd or DA'd persons essentially attempts to shut off any flow of damaging information that could be leaked out to family, and on and on down the line. Its basically the same as the old saying "blame the dead guy because he can't talk", and in this case the dead guy is anyone who is DF'd or DA'd. Its a dishonest way of concealing wrongdoing on the society's part. It serves to protect their image but on the flipside destroys peoples lives in doing so. How Godly is that may I ask? Doesn't seem so Godly to me but it rathers seems greedy.

Yes I see they still tell a half truth as they fail to disclose what the true feelings were at the time of 1914 and prior. According to Russell's belief 1914 was indeed supposed to be the physical end of this current system, basically armagedon was supposed to have occured in 1914. It was only till after this prediction failed that it was later mended to instead be the sign of Christ's invisible reign. As far as I know they have yet to ever admit that they held such ideas, they keep glossing over that fact and acting as if it was never a part of their doctrine. This too me is a real lack of credibility on their part from day one. Good observation Buster.

hey i was just wondering if some of you wouldnt mind relating some crazy stories of things that apostates have done to get attention of witnesses and break them out of the trance.

i would think right after the 'stay alive till '75' fiasco there must have been some really pissed off and vocal people!

How does the Society refute the 607/1914 discrepancy?

Well heres what I was always told and what I seem to remember reading in one of the orgs books was that they take the biblical evidence as precident over the insurmountable amount of secular evidence available which refutes the 607 date. They say their biblical evidence is the 2520 phophetic days, which adds to 1914 c.e. from their 607 bce start date of Jerusalem's destruction.

This explanation basicly to me is a strategic smoke screen, first off how can they claim they claim biblical accurasy as precident over secular evidence? Especially when their only biblical evidence is a reference to Christ's invisible rule in 1914, basically a far fetchted grabbing at straws spinnoff of a Revelation phrophecy. The fact is I dont see any proof of 1914 being directly linked with Christ's return as no direct date is given in the bible. It is merely the speculation of the Watchtower's doctrine, a doctrine which was later changed to 1914 to begin with. Such time setting of Christ's return found its origin in the adventist movement in which Russell was one time actively involved with. Their evidence stands precariously on a pivotal date of 1914 that is really not that pivotal in signifigance to any biblical evidence.

So we see how they weave the web, they assume automatically that the reader is siding with them and will accept their answer of having biblical authority over secular evidence. They offer no direct evidence to the reader though, evidently no doubt because they have no such evidence to present.

Hope this helps, just what I remember of their explanation off the top of my head.

in fact its difficult to get work done during the day because of reading posts on here.. a couple of months ago if someone wouldve asked me whether i was apostate i would have flatly refused partly because the indoctrination still has its effect even after a decade and the negative connotation attached to the word 'apostate' is still at the back of my mind.

Thank you Taylor. Darts can be fun though can't they. I guess I just dont feel the need to express vengence against them as I try to close that chapter of my life, but I sure will use every strength I have to help one who is suffering from their twisted reasonings. I think every person is different though, some tend to be reserved and a onslought of information can scare them, but then some need a confrontational style to jar their heads loose. Thats where others shine as yourself, it depends on the person and how they respond I guess. You could say were all different tools, sometimes a job calls for a certain tool and thats where a variety of personality and experience helps.

I remember about 10 years ago at a district assembly a man actually got on stage, pushed the speaker back and started talking. He was quickly cut off though and walked out by about 6 attendants rushed around him. Did make for an interesting experience though. lol I wish I could have heard what he had said but they cut off the sound too quickly.

What kind of Apostate are you?

I actually think by the meaning of the word apostate which is abandoning a former idea, the governing body would also be apostate. They abandoned Russell's belief system, also many of Rutherford's and Franz. So yes, I think they too would be penned as apostate as they have abandoned thier original beliefs. If they want to point a finger at us then im sure we can point ours right back at them. Them calling us apostate is kinda like calling the kettle black.
