I agree with you GBL. Like you Im gonna be glued every saturday night. I mean were still Canadian and hockey still is king here. Overpaid they are but they still attract a crowd.

I don't ever foresee these men debating anyone who is "on" to their deception and manipulation of the current JWs.
What reason would they have to debate, they know theirs flaws to their doctrines but like I said they have a crowd of 6 million proud believing their every utterance. To dare debate on whether their doctrines are correct or not would show an admission on their part that their doctrines are not 100% sound. This they will never do, plain and simple.

If this is refurring to the NHL players, then Damn sure wish I was part of that hard working class. Have to play a sport for a living and only be limited to a measly 6 million a year. Oh dear how the hell could I stand that Job.
I know what you mean though, because the owners and league reaps, as they cut from the players. I think the whole thing and all professional sports have become inflated, don't get me wrong I love hockey very much but just hate the greed thats been incorporated into the game.

I personally feel that setting up a public debate on this very board is an effective tool in exposing the Watchtower Society. Its inexpensive, by far the largest coverage being accessible to a large number of households worldwide, can be viewed in privacy, and reaches the ones who are most important. This is the R and F and the others who have no previous knowledge of JW's. If they are contacted at the doors hopefully they use their internet and do research. Google JW's Poof! They may come here and look. I feel we are all doing a service to the exposay of the Watchtower by posting here, and showing others the truth.

I agree with Minimus. What good will debating them do if they won't even debate? They have already put into their own minds and the minds of 6 million JW's that they are correct, so why would they feel the need to debate? Their must be more effective avenues of infiltration that one can do to make inroads into the exposition of the Watchtower society.

Oh BTW I guess me and my spouse are another case of classic watchtower brain drain. If they dont like your higher education they view it as a threat to their logic, and will view you as someone who could be potentially harmful to the unity of the Congregation. You will soon find yourself an outsider especially if you have a background in Psychology, as I have witnessed.

Well I have four years of post secondary schooling plus other training and experience in the psychological fields. Was supposed to finish a seven year doctorate but never comleted yet.
My other half is in the medical field in which she recieved alot of disfavour from the JW's at the time for taking the schooling. They still look down on higher education, and I can confirm this as about a year and a half ago I recieved a disfavourable look from the CO when I mentioned I was studying Bio Genetics and writing a thesis on it for the U of A. He looked at me and in a sneering way said "Bio-Genetics!! Its called being content with the basics in life". Obviously they dont like higher education, that is simple for me to see.
They do utilize and respect thoese who do have this education as long as they use it in favour of the Org. As for psychology, touchy subject for dubs, they don't generally like psychological fields as some feel its demonized or whatever excuse they use.
I believe personally that the GB just fear that one can decipher and recongnize their subtle uses of indoctrination. I know how all say on this board that seeing the misquotes and changing doctrines is hard evidence to motivate ones out of the Org. I wholeheartedly agree with this, but I still stress the importance of recognizing the emotional and psychological factors involved. If one can do this they can more easily adjust to their past experience and understand the emotions that they may feel.
Emotions can run high when one is faced with critical analysis of their religious entity. If one does not understand why they have feelings of flashback, floating back and forth from cult thought, loss of reasoning and ability to make sound decisions with use of their own autonomy, they can be easily drawn back to their previous state in order to alleviate these normal and nagging emotions.
For me the doctrines got me questioning the WTBTS but recongnizing the psychological employments they use and understanding the emotions I felt in my exit were priceless aids in a full effective emotional, spiritual, and physical escape.

'Other sheep' being cleansed

i was just wondering where the wts gets the idea of the 'other sheep' who survive the 'great tribulation' becoming cleansed.. i know revelations speaks specifically of the 144,000 "washing themsleves in the blood of the lamb", thereby becomming cleansed, or perfect.. the wts teaches that the 'other sheep' become cleansed gradually over the 1,000 year reign, but wouldn't they themselves need to be washed clean (obviously symbolic) in jesus' blood somehow?.

I dont mind JCannon. Ive debated with him before on his reasoning and yah he puts up a feasible argument but its built on the same reasoning as the Watchtower uses. I think its a good reminder for all of us how easily one can start up a system of beliefs through personal interpretations, and yet make it seem very plausible to the public through long and and very circumstantial reasonings. Its a nice warning to show how easily we were and can all be decieved by this sort of reasoning from the bible, just as the watchtower spun its web around all of us at one point in time. Other then that he's a very hospitable person, never said a bad word to me anyway, and if one is bored as hell I suppose you may get a laugh or hone your debating skills with him. Good practice for the real thing I guess. And I agree everyone should be allowded on this board, no matter what their personal beliefs are, as long as they dont forcefully push it on others unwantinglly. I say let God be the judge.
