per Voyagers post....the same thing happened here in Milwaukee....for as long as i can remember, the conventions have been held @ the Dane County colisuem in Madison, WI...(a very outdated place) now they have to go to some other place in Rockford IL because attendance in Madison was so low....yet they are a "growing" orginization and the "little one shall become a thousand"....<======= does that still apply to JW's?

Godly Obedience in 2005
by truthseeker inyep, "godly obedience" is the theme for this years district convention.. you know the wts will be hot on obedience this year.. expect more wt articles asking for money (as obedience to jehovah), asking for more pioneers and elders, and making this a matter of obedience.. it's getting worse.. at the meeting this week, a whole 25 minutes was taken up on what to do regarding accomodation at the district convention.. brother zealous said if we're not obedient to the instructions that the faithful slave has given us, we undermine the hard work the society puts in to arrange these provisions.. godley obedience means we will attend all three days at our convention.. .
this cult makes me sick.
everything is about jehovah; jesus just does not figure in anything, unless they feel the need to quote a scripture or something.. .

Do you think that JW's will print a "new" book on Revelations?
by booker-t inthe wts has printed several books on revelation since it's inception in 1879. many of the prophecies that were predicted in the studies in the scriptures book failed miserably.
next the two "light" books the same predictions were reworded failed also.
the society tried again with the 60's books then is the finished mystery of god book and the babylon the great has fallen book.

well they made a "Daniel" prophecy book and in 95 ( i think that was the year) we had to revisit the "Revelation IGCAH book again at the society's urging....I guess they didn't get it right the first time....or as I like to call it "Revelation-the remix"......

I liked the friends that I made. We had alot of fun outside the KH...all of us led double lives LOL....the hotels we stayed in during the conventions were always fun (being that the coventions were our only family vacation) I loved finding out that my friends were staying in the same hotel at us....we would have alot of fun in the pool...the intermissions at the conventions and circuit assemblies were fun..and some of the weddings and receptions were cool too (when you were invited)...and every once in a while there was actually a talk that I benefited from....but as we all know everything else INCLUDING the congregation picnics SUCKED! The picnics were doomed from the start..it always RAINED...it was a sign......

JW ignore you for good reason
by one inthis is not an introduction to sociology, just typing without much reflection.
do you think the wt would survive if they did not shun or ignore "apostates" (or anyone who does not follow the rules), be realistic, jw org is still an small group with survival instincts..
besides ignoring, is a very tipical human trick anyway, or do you think you could be accepted in any private club you want to?

how long disfellowshipped?
by sugarbritches inhi- when someone is disfellowshipped- how do the elders determine the amount of time for the disfellowshipping to last?
my friend- perhaps i should say my ex friend has been disfellowshipped for 3 years- for singing in a small local country band with me- a non-witness.isn't that a bit extreme?
i haven't seen or heard from him in over a year.

Will the Watchtower Society help only Jehover Witnesses?
by Elsewhere inthat you may prove yourselves sons of your father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous.
for if you love those loving you, what reward do you have?
are not also the tax collectors doing the same thing?

They don't help anyone who is not affilliated with them....and the only people that are afilliated with them are who (drumroll) THE THE WTBS!!!! ...that's right folks....and here is something that always KILLED me....
Remember back in the day when they used to actually charge for magazines? But it was against the society rules to purchase cookies from orginizations like the Girl Scouts because of their worldly intentions? What kind of sense does that make? How can you accept money from people who support those orginizations and actual members, but you can't support anything they do? So you mean to tell me that while there is no stipulation on money towards the orginization....what if you knowingly witnessed to a drug dealer? Is that cool too? This is a crooked group of people who are just as bad as the people they criticize in their publications!

Go Back to the Kingdom Hall and Leave Us Alone!
by steve2 inhas anyone else observed or even taken part in the strange phenomenon of defending something even when you have doubts about it?
it's not a new phenomenon; i think freud called it "reactive formation".
i notice every now and then, jws and/or their supporters tentatively surface on the jw discussion board.

Why are they here in the first place? They are supposed to "turn away from every unclean thing, and every work of lawlessness right? They shouldn't even be here. For God sakes there are "apostates" on here! We poison their minds and create room for doubt...we don't want to make them spritually weak do we? People these people are here to satisfy their own curiosity. Like it was said in the first post, they have doubts and questions of their own. I was once one of those people. Defending the orginization and everything it stood for...trying to find some kind of middle ground...then they justify it by trying to say they are trying to help us....these people want to leave but they haven't found the will or strength to do it...so they hide behind their judgements for us...when all they want here is confirmation that they are not alone...and that the orginization and everything they believe in is not what it seems...

PIONEER!!!!!
you will be asked to pioneer immediately!!! Especially if you're young....they'll even ask you to devote your whole summer to it...pioneering is your duty as a baptized publisher.......which means your weekends are gone!!!
