"day one" is a story written by a jehovah's witness about what things.
might be like the day after armageddon.. this example of theocratic fiction has been around for quite a while.. but some may not be aware of it.. you can read it at this address:.

watchtower convention.

AMAZING....TY once again. As a youth in da truth, I attended the assembly hall in Sunnyside, Queens, NYC for many years.
As for the replies relating to lawsuits, dodging taxes, etc, here are my observations over the years.
Other religions use the laws i the same way-for example, when working in downtown NYC for many years, most factory buildings were owned by the Catholic Church in the area. The rent bill was disguised as a water bill to seem as no profit was being made. Funny, huh?
Also, in NYC, taxicabs were allowed to carry a minimum of $10,000 liability insurance, so therefore, the owners would set up multiple cab compaies. In this way, if they got sued, the only assets they could actually lose were those of the cab company which was involved in an accident. The owners other assets, which were incorporated, were safe.
Believe me, the WTS takes FULL advantage of the loopholes in the law, but no more so than any other religion or business.

why are there so many star trek refferences among x-jw's?
like the borg getting assimilated, etc.
i heard before that star trek was very popular in bethel despite warnings not to watch it.
I think Worf said it all!!!
Wassup Worf? Nice to see ya :-)
Boozy...
i don't mean in general, i mean for exjw's... is there a noticable advantage to pairing with someone with the same background?
i'd like to read your thoughts and experiences on this subject.. i've been romantically involved few times, since "the light got brighter" for me about the organization, with people who didn't know anything about jw's before meeting me.
one of them viewed my exjw activity as a bit obsessive but okay as long as she got to obsess on her favorite obesssions, too.
Hi Comf, and all.
Since my departure from the ORG, I have ony been involved with non-JWs. 2 of them however had had a bit of involvement with JWs in their lives-one had studied briefly, the other had lived with a JW family during a troubled time in her own life. Intimacy was great in both instances, though the relatioships didnt last for other reasons.
In my case, I have never come across ex-JWs in a relationship situation.
As far as I am concerned, theres plenty of baggage out there, JW-related or not. Also, I find that most people are seeking the same thing, that is, a healthy, satisfying relationship. The WTS did not want us to believe that there are good people "in the world."
Actually, I feel that the relationships I have had since my exit have been pretty damn good because of the people I date, and because of the type of person I am.
DANNYBOY.....yes, I have that fear also, that an ex-JW may decide to go back!!! UGHHHHHHH, PERISH THE THOUGHT.

raymond franz unwittingly reveals the truth insofar as the comparability of todays jehovahs witnesses and those who were true worshipers in queen esthers day.. raymond franz said:.

Yadirf,
I agree with AMAZING. Just because JWs are a closed society, it doesnt mean they have so-called truth.
I will liken their "insularity" to that which is known throughout the Law Enforcement community as the BLUE WALL OF SILENCE. I have known more than a few instances of cops as abusive husbands, yet they are protected as if their shit doesnt stink.
Such protectionism only serves to allow such behavoiur to continue, much to the detriment of their victims.
So it is with JWs and molestation, as AMAZING pointed out. INSULARITY does NOT = "a special relationship with God."

if you remember, i've been inquiring about how to discuss jw issues with my boyfriend's sister.
it appears she is accepting the watchtower driven interpretations of the bible, but we are still not giving up.
if you are willing, would you respond, in a nutshell, to the question, "what is the doctrine or belief that the jw's hold that was most instrumental in leading you to abandon this religion?
Hi Kathy,
I guess my answer would qualify under "social issues."
I was "selectively" DF'd under very questionable circumstances.
Subsequent to that I began to find out much "dirt" on the WTS.
I guess you can say it was downhill from there.
